Moment terrified Brit family watch passenger jet tyre EXPLODE during take-off at Greek airport - before military plane shadows them ahead of 'brace position' emergency landing
Kris Sadler was petrified when the blow out happened just as the plane was about to lift off.
He videoed the shocking explosion and the scary vibrations it caused to the wing.
Kris was returning from Corfu to Birmingham, with wife Katie and sons, Olly, 13, and Zach, nine.
They were on a TUI jet when the nerve shredding blast happened.
'It was scary,' Kris, from Telford, Shropshire, told, Luxury Travel Daily.
'There were bits of tyre flying everywhere. The whole wing was rippling.
'I knew something was wrong but the crew took two hours to tell us. I don't blame them - the crew were brilliant.
'The pilot was good - thank goodness we had a pilot who trains other pilots. He told us he was handing over to his co pilot to fly us home.
'But later he told us he would be landing because we'd lost a tyre. He said the plane was a hundred per cent safe but passengers had to take precautions and go into the brace position.
'And as we came into touch down the crew were saying, 'heads down, heads down, heads down' repeatedly which kind of makes you panic more.
'It was pretty crazy. It's a one-in-10,000 chance of a plane tyre blowing - so that's mine ticked off.
'It's probably never going to happen again.'
The photographer added that emergency crews were prepared when they landed at Birmingham.
'They hosed down the broken wheel,' he said.
'It looked like there were sparks when we landed but the landing was very good. It was a bit bumpy because it was running on a flat tyre.
'But it has other tyres so I suppose we knew we'd be OK. I was just trying to hold it together for the kids - and my wife was trying to hold it together.
'And she did until we landed and then it all came out. I was saying to them, "it's all okay" but I was thinking, "bloody hell if this goes wrong...".
'We may never have been in danger - or it might have been very dangerous and the pilot just pulled it off', he said
'I didn't know if there was more damage to the landing gear - and nor did the crew.
'But the pilot lowered the landing gear 15 minutes before we were due to land and I know they never do it that early. Then a black military jet appeared next to us and flew all the way in to landing with us.
'It had come to scout out the landing gear and tyre to see if it was OK. All the passengers cheered and clapped when we landed.
'The pilot came out and bowed. I don't know how dangerous it really was.
'We may never have been in danger - or it might have been very dangerous and the pilot just pulled it off.
'There were some tears - but it was great to get back on solid ground and all safe.'

The Balearic Islands are facing an unprecedented surge in migrant landings, fuelling fears the Mediterranean holiday hotspot could be turning into a major new gateway for irregular migration into Europe. 'Where is the government of (Pedro) Sanchez?' Balearic regional leader Marga Prohens posted on X on Wednesday, referring to Spain 's prime minister. She called for increased law enforcement resources and cooperation with Algeria. Madrid said last month it would improve the Balearics' capacity to absorb arrivals. Alfonso Rodríguez, Madrid's regional representative in the Balearics, shot back that calm seas and criminal gangs exploiting security gaps were behind the rise. He said it was part of a wider Mediterranean pattern. Arrivals in the Canaries, meanwhile, have fallen by 46% in January-July of this year, largely thanks to tightened controls by Mauritania. Eighty per cent of arrivals to Spain in the first quarter of last year were headed to the Canary Islands, making the journey the most heavily used migration route to Europe this year. Bárbara González del Río, Migration Specialist at Save the Children Spain, warned that officials are anticipating a 'significant increase in crossings during the summer months'. 'As long as there is a need in the countries of origin, people will continue to move, and the migratory flow towards Europe will continue to exist,' she said, according to the newspaper. Migrants reaching the islands tend to leave Algeria's coastline, where patrols are lighter. The majority are Somalians who aim to escape conflict and food shortages. Among those who have arrived is a 20-year-old South Sudanese called Konestory, who paid $2,000 and endured 46 hours of travelling time to get to the islands. Although he told Reuters the boat faced adversities such as food shortages, getting lost, and 'a lot of waves', he was 'happy' to have arrived on the islands. Last month, the government announced plans to boost the Balearics' capacity to process new arrivals. Majorca media says new arrivals are often left to sit in public parks for hours before they are taken to mainland Spain Yet local media in Mallorca reports that dozens of new arrivals have been left sitting in public parks for hours due to a lack of shelters, before being put on ferries to mainland Spain. In June, a murder investigation was launched after several migrants were found in Mallorca with their hands and feet bound. They are believed to have been attempting the difficult journey from North Africa to Europe. The huge increase has worsened an existing political clash between Prohens and the Sánchez government over the redistribution of unaccompanied child migrants who arrive in the Canaries. Prohens has been a staunch advocate for hardline immigration policies, saying last year that there was a 'total lack of control' when it comes to small boat arrivals.

Pilot reveals what the chime sounds REALLY mean on planes - and when you should get worried
There's often a range of noises on flights, from the seatbelt sign ding to the squeaky wheels of the food trolley. During the journey, there's also a double chime sound that usually goes unnoticed, seemingly with no reaction from anyone. But now, former commercial pilot Daniel Bubb has revealed what the different chimes mean, and when passengers should be concerned. The dings are used to help the pilots and cabin crew communicate various things throughout the flight. A double chime sound is the pilot signalling to the cabin crew that the plane has gone through 10,000 feet of altitude. Before 10,000, they are in a 'sterile cockpit', during which the pilots are entirely focused on their task without menial distractions. 'It is what we call a "critical phase of flight" because there is so much happening that it requires both pilots' full attention,' Daniel told Reader's Digest. After passing 10,000 feet and the double chime rings, cabin crew can move around more freely. 'Flight attendants can get up - unless there is sufficient turbulence to the point where the pilot has requested that they remain seated for their safety - and passengers can safely use their electronic devices,' Daniel explained. The former pilot, who served as a first officer at Air Vegas Airlines, also revealed what the single chime means. It often sounds when someone presses a button for assistance, or when the seat belt sign turns on or off. Daniel added: 'The single chime is [also] used by flight attendants to talk to each other over the phone without using the public address microphone.' It may also be used alongside an important announcement. Daniel recounted a flight when a passenger needed medical help and the crew asked if anyone on board was a doctor. 'The flight attendants used the chime and public address microphone to ask if there were any doctors onboard,' he added. Three chime sounds can be more serious, but are rare. Daniel revealed the sound signifies an 'emergency situation,' meaning the plane could be about to experience 'severe turbulence' or even needs to divert to a different airport. Luckily, he's never been required to use the signal during his time in the air. He explained that though he has flown through 'moderate to severe turbulence' before, he hasn't had to chime three times.
