DC Casts Lead Actor in Highly Anticipated New Superhero Film originally appeared on Parade.
As more and more details are released surrounding DC's upcoming slew of projects, the company has confirmed the casting of Welsh actor Tom Rhys Harries in the title role of 2026's upcoming Clayface film.
The casting comes as something of a surprise for most fans of the famed comic book company. Rather than opting for an easily recognizable name among viewers, the 32-year-old Harries is more readily known for roles in short-lived series like Apple TV+'s Suspicion and Netflix's White Lines.
According to Deadline, Harries was selected over several equally talented young actors from the United Kingdom, including The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes' Tom Blyth, Sinners' Jack O'Connell and 1917's George MacKay.
The film will be directed by James Watkins of Speak No Evil fame, with Doctor Sleep filmmaker Mike Flanagan and Drive writer Hossein Amini providing various iterations of Clayface's script.
In contrast to most other superhero films, Clayface exists as something of a rarity in mainstream comic book fandom. Rather than focusing on a well-known character like Batman or Wonder Woman, the film will instead follow the Dark Knight's comparatively lesser-known villain Clayface, a B-movie character who transforms into a horrific shape-shifting monster.
Rather than existing as a straightforward villains' origin story, the film will instead act as an R-rated body horror film similar to 1986's The Fly or The Substance, as reported by SlashFilm.
Further details surrounding the film have yet to be released, but the film is currently scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 11, 2026.
Clayface will follow in the footsteps of its fellow buzz-worthy DCU release, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which will debut in theaters on June 26 next year. Filming is expected to take place later this year in October, with further details likely to be announced by DC in the coming months.

Reese Witherspoon Launches Hello Sunshine Sister Brand For Gen Z

Reese Witherspoon is having a busy week. The day after she announced a podcast deal with iHeartMedia for her monthly book club, she pulled back the curtain on Sunnie, a Gen Z-focused sister brand to her media juggernaut Hello Sunshine. On stage at Cannes Lions on June 18, Witherspoon shared the vision for Sunnie, designed to inspire the next generation of young women through storytelling and experiences to reclaim their time, follow their curiosity and step into their power and guided by an advisory board of 20 teenage girls. 'It's been a dream of mine to build a space where young women can be the truest version of themselves,' said Witherspoon. 'We've discovered that young women are not defined by doom and gloom as they're often portrayed in media – they're complex, creative individuals with incredible agency. Sunnie will be a celebration of that spirit, giving them the tools and community to navigate life's challenges while embracing their authentic selves.' Part of Candle Media, Hello Sunshine centers women in stories across platforms from scripted and unscripted television, feature films, animated series, podcasts, audio storytelling, and digital series, and is home to Reese's Book Club. Projects include 'The Morning Show,' 'Daisy Jones and the Six,' 'Little Fires Everywhere' and 'Big Little Lies.' Sunnie, which aspires to 'build a community rooted in joy, curiosity, and real self-expression,' is launching with partner e.l.f. Beauty as its foundational partner and features collaborations out of the gate with Gen Z creators including Lana Condor and Hello Sunshine Collective talent Molly Carlson and Raegan Revord on topics including confidence and creative outlets to culture-driving trends, like fashion, entertainment, sports, STEM, and mental health. Sunnie also has formed strategic alliances with organizations including Child Mind Institute, Être, Lyda Hill Philanthropies' IF/THEN Initiative, Step Up, the Women's Sports Foundation, and Purdue University as the official University Partner. To ground the platform in real insights, Hello Sunshine also partnered with Être and YPulse to commission a national research report titled The Gen Z Rewrite, which surveys 1,000 girls ages 13–18. 'Young women – despite the many pressures they face – are intentionally creating space for joy,' said Maureen polo, head of direct to consumer at Hello Sunshine. 'They're writing their own stories, setting boundaries, finding community, and embracing both digital and real-world connections on their terms. And yet, 75 percent say advertising rarely reflects how they actually talk, dress, or act — a clear signal that the industry still isn't truly seeing them. Sunnie will support and amplify these efforts, providing content, curriculum, and experiences that resonate with how they actually live their lives, not how adults assume they do.'

The Bixie Is the '90s-Inspired Haircut of the Summer

What's a bixie, you may ask? Unofficially: One of the coolest haircuts of the summer. Officially: A hybrid between a bob and a pixie. In other words, the best of all worlds. Here, a look at what exactly makes a bixie a 'bixie'—and how to style it if you decide to make the chop yourself. Breaking down the bixie cut The bixie has quickly become the most-requested haircut at salons. For good reason: 'It's a cut that combines the freshness and casualness of the pixie with the length of the bob, combining shorter layers at the nape of the neck and sideburns and leaving longer ones at the top and close to the face,' explains Spanish hairstylist and Redken ambassador Juandiegoteo. Think: A grown-out pixie or a choppy bob with face-framing bangs. With a vibe that calls to minds the It-girls of the 1990s like Winona Ryder, Cameron Diaz, Halle Berry, and Victoria Beckham, it allows multiple variations depending on hair texture, bone structure, and desired length. 'It can be adapted to all types of hair and face shapes: play with the bangs and leave them down, tousled, or wavy to achieve a classic or edgy style,' recommends stylist Mar Peón of Menta Beauty Place in Madrid. Francesca Babbi Who can wear a bixie cut? While the bixie can be adapted for anyone, 'it's a cut that especially favors oval faces as it highlights the cheekbones,' says Juandiegoteo. He also considers it 'ideal for fine hair because it adds a lot of volume. And, it also works well with wavy and curly hair for a more casual style,' he explains. Felicitas Ordás of Felicitas Hair says it's also a great cut for anyone who wants to highlight their jawline, shoulders, and neck. 'With this cut, the nape of the neck and sides are lengthened.' Her advice: Comb it with the ends slightly outwards to give it a playful, gamine look.

Netflix will air traditional TV channels inside its app in France

Starting in summer 2026, Netflix subscribers in France will be able to watch commercially broadcast TV content 'without ever having to leave the service.' The streaming giant has announced a distribution deal with French media company TF1 Group to make TF1's free-to-air live TV channels and on-demand TF1 Plus streaming content available to French Netflix users as part of their existing subscription plan. 'This is a first-of-its-kind partnership that plays to our strengths of giving audiences the best entertainment alongside the best discovery experience,' Netflix CEO Greg Peters said in a statement. 'By teaming up with France's leading broadcaster we will provide French consumers with even more reasons to come to Netflix every day and to stay with us for all their entertainment.' The carriage deal will enable French Netflix subscribers to watch major live sports matches, scripted dramas like Broceliande and Erica, soap operas such as Demain nous appartient, and unscripted shows like The Voice. Financial details were not disclosed, but for Netflix, this deal may also contribute towards a legal requirement to invest a portion of its French revenue into French-language content. Netflix started experimenting with a linear-style TV feature in France in 2020 called 'Direct' that broadcast a programmed schedule of shows, but the TF1 partnership is the first deal to host channels from a third-party network. The partnership could be compared to Netflix being granted the output for CBS in the US, or ITV in the UK. It's significant because the TF1 network holds around 24 percent of the French linear TV market — higher than the domestic US market share for NBC, CBS, ABC, or Fox. As more consumers switch from traditional TV to streaming on-demand content, the Netflix TF1 partnership could pave the way for similar deals to help struggling networks bolster their audiences by piggybacking off the very streaming services that viewers are jumping to. In the announcement, TF1 Group CEO Rodolphe Belmer said, 'as viewing habits shift toward on-demand consumption and audience fragmentation increases, this unprecedented alliance will enable our premium content to reach unparalleled audiences and unlock new reach for advertisers within an ecosystem that perfectly complements our TF1 Plus platform.'
