Crystal Palace to meet UEFA officials on Tuesday over multi-club ownership rules

Crystal Palace will meet UEFA officials on Tuesday and plead their case to be allowed to compete in Europe next season, the PA news agency understands.
Palace qualified for the Europa League after they stunned Manchester City at Wembley to clinch FA Cup final success on May 17 and in the process secured the first major trophy in the club's history.
It booked Palace and their fans a ticket on a European tour, but the Premier League outfit must show UEFA's club financial control body (CFCB) on Tuesday that they do not fall foul of its multi-club ownership rules.

John Textor holds a 43 per cent stake in Palace through his company Eagle Football and he is also the owner of French club Lyon, who qualified for the Europa League with a sixth-placed finish in Ligue 1.
No individual is allowed to have a significant say in the running of two clubs competing in the same UEFA competition and the CFCB would have to make a ruling on any potential breach.
PA understands Palace are confident no rules have been breached owing to the fact that Textor – through Eagle Football – has only a 25 per cent share of voting rights alongside fellow principal owners Josh Harris, David Blitzer and chairman Steve Parish.
Parish is also responsible for the day-to-day running of the club, which has led to past tension with Textor, who had previously tried to sell his shares and take over Everton.
Given Palace believe they have no influence over Lyon and Eagle Football does not have decision-making powers at the Premier League outfit because of the voting structure, the club managed by Oliver Glasner are hopeful of being able to compete in Europe.
If Palace fail to convince the CFCB that no rules have been breached, Lyon would keep their Europa League spot due to a higher league finish. Meanwhile, Brondby, who Blitzer owns, qualified for the Europa Conference League.

This could prevent Palace from entering the Europa Conference League, which could open the door for Brighton to benefit.
Palace's failure to compete in the Europa League would see their spot transferred to seventh-placed Nottingham Forest.
It would mean Forest's previous Europa Conference League qualification berth would go to the next highest team in the Premier League, which is Brighton in eighth.
A UEFA spokesperson said: 'Please be informed that decisions regarding multi-club ownership cases for the 2025-26 season will be announced in due course during June. We do not comment on individual club cases until an official decision has been made.'
Last summer, the CFCB cleared Manchester City and Girona, owned by the City Football Group, to take part in the Champions League and INEOS-owned Manchester United and Nice to compete in the Europa League.

Revealed: The staggering amount Florian Wirtz will be paid a WEEK if he completes Liverpool move - with German set to earn more than Virgil van Dijk

Florian Wirtz is set to earn a staggering salary if he completes a move to Liverpool this summer. Arne Slot is looking to splash out to improve an already impressive squad after they won the Premier League and a deal for German playmaker Wirtz is edging closer. They would have to break the Premier League transfer record to secure Wirtz's signature after Bayer Leverkusen priced the 22-year-old at £120million. Liverpool have offered £100m plus an extra £13m in add ons but the German side are holding out on a fee which would overtake the £115m which Chelsea paid Brighton for Moses Caicedo. The attacking midfielder has made it clear that Liverpool are his choice and a move is reportedly 'considered a done deal'. The Reds will also spend big on Wirtz's salary, with the German set to be handed a five-year contract worth £355,000-a-week, according to Bild. The enormous salary would make him Liverpool's second highest paid player, above the £350,000-a-week Virgil van Dijk earns, but just below Mohamed Salah's weekly £400,000 earnings. Although Liverpool will have to break the bank for Wirtz, he previously admitted he is not motivated by money. 'I don't even care about how much money I have in my account or what I might earn in the future,' he told Sports Illustrated Germany this year. 'Of course, you should make sure you get a good contract. But for me, the sporting perspective is much more important than the money. 'And I think my parents would be angry if I were too fixated on money. After I moved to Leverkusen at 16, my parents managed my salary and sent me €150 (£126) a month. 'That shaped me. It was important to my parents that I didn't do anything stupid with my salary.' The German star is edging closer to an Anfield switch and has been convinced by Slot's clear plan of where he will play in Liverpool's set-up as a No 10. And on Wednesday, Wirtz appeared to nod when asked by MailSport if he was 'excited for Liverpool ' after Germany's Nations League defeat by Portugal. Wirtz would become Liverpool's third signing of the summer, and their second from Leverkusen after the champions scooped Jeremie Frimpong for £29.5m. The right wing back penned a five-year contract at Anfield last week after completing his medical last month.

6 surging Rangers transfer headlines that go beyond Coady and Turgeman as £20m vision faces strict timeline

Russell Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell are scouring the globe for new recruits New Rangers boss Russell Martin is looking to add some new talent to the Ibrox dressing room before pre-season kicks off. That gives sporting director Kevin Thelwell until June 23 to snap up some new talent - with Conor Coady and Dor Turgerman on the agenda. ‌ Negotiations have started with Leicester City over a potential deal to bring in experience Coady - while rising talent Turgerman has opened the door to a move by admitting he is ready to leave Maccabi Tel Aviv. ‌ But with the American revolution in full flow at Ibrox, CEO Patrick Stewart has promised Martin he'll be handed a significant chunk of the £20million set to be injected in the Premiership giants by their new owners.. So, who else could be coming in? And who could be shown the door? Record Sport takes a look. Metinho Troyes' midfielder Metinho has caught Rangers' eye after a successful loan at FC Basel last term. But the Light Blues' face a battle to land the £5million-rated star as they prepare for his signature with the Swiss champions - who are looking to make the deal permanent despite not holding an option to buy. BaZ report it is "unclear" if Basel will be able to secure a return and meeting the valuation - leaving the door open for a move to Ibrox. Largie Ramazani Reports in Spain suggest Leeds United's Largie Ramazani is a target for the Light Blues' this summer - just a year on from his £10million move to Elland Road from Almeria. And former Leeds' goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged the club to cut their losses with the winger, telling MOT Leeds News:" He's struggled to get in the side this season and I think at times, to his detriment, he's been an impact player off the bench. And I think that's maybe how the manager sees him. ‌ "And if they can get better than what they've got, which is what they have to do to stay in the Premier League, he could be one that's allowed to leave. 'He had a little spell of games, didn't he, in the Championship, but didn't play regularly, week in and week out. And he may be one where Leeds need to cut their cloth accordingly. He may be one that's allowed to move on.' Cyriel Dessers The striker has already revealed he has interest from Greece this summer - but while on international duty he has set himself the goal of scoring more for Rangers. ‌ When asked about his lack of recent caps for Nigeria, he said: 'I'm not the one making the choices. So, the only thing I can do is to perform well and score goals at my club … to ensure that I'm ready to be called up. 'Once I'm called upon, I should be able to show what I can do for the team. That I would have to do with goals, hard work and dedication,' ‌ Nedim Bajrami Nedim Bajrami will hope to impress his new boss when he returns for pre-season - with Record Sport understanding the Albanian is keen to stay in Glasgow and fight for his place in the team. After a disappointing first season in Scotland, reports in Albania suggest that clubs in Germany and Italy are on alert for a potential deal. Harry Darling He has already been signed twice by Russell Martin at MK Dons and then for Swansea City - but Record Sport understands Rangers are currently not in the race for his signature as his contract ticks down. Director of football Richard Montague says Swansea remains hopeful Harry Darling will sign a new deal with the club - despite reports that Norwich City are leading the race for the soon-to-be free agent. ‌ He told Wales Online: 'The ball is very much in Harry's court. "We made him what we thought was a very strong offer and I believe he would think is a very strong offer. Jamie Vardy It would be a landmark signing for the new owners - and Rangers are said to be among the club chasing Jamie Vardy after his Leicester City exit. ‌ The signing race for the 38-year-old appears to have lost a club - with Wrexham transfer consultant Les Reed telling the i: "Let's take an equivalent of Jamie Vardy. "Everyone thinks he's out of contract, there's no transfer fee, Wrexham could do that. You're talking about players who are on £140,000 a week. "We are a million miles away from that. There is a certain level of Premier League player who, if they are on £100k to 150k-a-week, are still going to get closer to that if they move to the MLS or Saudi Arabia than if they go to Wrexham." Alejandro Garnacho offered surprise Manchester United transfer escape route

Alejandro Garnacho faces little prospect of a future with Manchester United following his explosive fallout with Ruben Amorim and a switch to Saudi Arabia could potentially be on the cards Manchester United misfit Alejandro Garnacho could be offered an escape route from Old Trafford by Saudi Pro League club Al-Nassr. The Argentine is being discussed as an alternative target to Liverpool winger Luis Diaz after the Premier League champions made it clear that the Colombian is still part of Arne Slot 's plans when they were sounded out by Barcelona about their intentions for the 28-year-old. Al-Nassr have told former Kop favourite Sadio Mane that he can leave the club this summer - and want a top-class replacement. With Diaz now appearing set to stay at Anfield, the Saudis are now exploring the possibility of offering Garnacho the chance to link up again with his boyhood hero Cristiano Ronaldo. ‌ The Reds have also had interest from Saudi about Jadon Sancho after Chelsea sent the former England winger back to Manchester following his season-long loan at Stamford Bridge. And with United boss Ruben Amorim looking to clear the decks for a summer rebuild, Inter Milan have made contact with United about the possibility of taking misfiring £72million striker Rasmus Hojlund back to Italy. ‌ The beaten Champions League finalists want to take the 20-year-old former Atlalanta forward on-loan next season but are willing to agree to a £38million obligation-to-buy next year. That would save on Hojlund's £90,000-a-week wages. After telling Amorim that his budget for new players will be beefed up by cash generated from sales, there is also another potential money-maker in the pipeline. Former boss Erik ten Hag remains a big admirer of Antony and is weighing up whether to take the £80million Brazilian winger with him to Bayer Leverkusen after his successful loan spell with Real Betis. Betis don't have the £35million it will cost to keep Antony permanently, while Leverkusen will bank in excess of £110million for Florian Wirtz once they have settled on a fee with Liverpool. But it's Garnacho who is likely to give United their biggest pay-day. The Old Trafford club rejected a £40million bid from Napoli in January. But Amorim told the Madrid-born Argentina international to find a new club following a row in the aftermath of the Europa League Final defeat by Tottenham last month. Handing United their asking price will not be a problem for Al-Nassr - and the prospect of playing alongside Ronaldo would be a huge draw for Garnacho. ‌ Who should Man United sign this summer? Share your thoughts in the comments below Al-Nassr are currently in talks with Ronaldo about extending a contract that expires at the end of the month - and senior officials from the Saudi government have now entered the negotiations in a bid to keep the country's £3.2million-a-week poster boy in the country. ‌ They want the 40-year-old Portuguese's future signed and sealed before cranking up their summer recruitment drive. Garnacho grew up idolising Ronaldo - and even risked the wrath of Argentine legend Lionel Messi when he first broke into his country's senior squad as a teenager by name-checking the Portuguese as football's greatest-ever player. United have already started splashing the cash with the £62.5million capture of Matheus Cunha from Wolves and will have to get close to that fee if they are to prise Bryan Mbeumo away from Brentford. The Reds missed out on a £100million pay-day when captain Bruno Fernandes turned down a £700,000-a-week contract with Al Hilal last week. Getting maximum value from the sale of Garnacho and others would enable them to pursue Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres.
