Pakistani Amb. in Cairo Meets Chairman of National Media Authority
Pakistani Ambassador to Cairo Aamir Shouket met with Chairman of National Media Authority (NMA/Maspero) in Egypt Mr. Ahmed Al-Moslemany, the Pakistani Embassy said on "X".
The Ambassador lauded the Historical Brotherly relations between Pakistan and Egypt reflected in touching cultural landmarks, and thriving as a glowing evidence of strong Cultural Affinity, Literary and Artistic outlook of people of Pakistan and Egypt.
Chairman of NMA Mr. Ahmed Al-Moslemany highlighted the Respect and Affection amongst Egyptian people for the Poet of The East Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
The Chairman of NMA expressed strong admiration for Iqbal's Philosophy that influences Hearts and Sentimens, leaving an unforgettable imprint amongst Egyptian and Pakistan people through iconic performance of Kawkab AlSharq Umm Kulthum.
During The meeting, it was agreed to reinvigorate existing mechanism of media cooperation under Cultural Cooperation Agreement between Pakistan and Egypt.
It was also agreed to consolidate the existing cultural and media cooperation while simultaneously exploring avenues for joint production aimed at bringing the brotherly people of the two countries more closer.

Aisha Fahmy Palace Will Host Umm Kulthum Exhibition This August
The exhibition celebrates Umm Kulthum's legacy through pieces inspired by her personal belongings, old newspaper pages, and a selection of items from the Umm Kulthum Museum in Manial. The Aisha Fahmy Palace will inaugurate its latest exhibition, 'The Voice of Egypt', in Zamalek this Monday, August 18th, at 7 PM. Held in collaboration with the Fine Arts Sector, headed by Dr. Walid Qanoush, the upcoming showcase features works by Egyptian artists telling the story of one of Egypt's most legendary voices. Some pieces draw on her personal belongings and old newspaper pages. A selection of items from the Umm Kulthum Museum in Manial will also be on display. The exhibition runs until November 15th daily from 9 AM to 9 PM except Fridays.

Egyptian, Jordanian ministers talk cooperation at 33rd Joint Higher Committee session
Egypt's planning minister and her Jordanian counterpart have discussed joint efforts to achieve economic development and enhance growth and employment policies during the 33rd session of the Egyptian-Jordanian Joint Higher Committee in Amman. Minister of Planning, Economic Development, and International Cooperation, Rania Al-Mashat, met with Zeina Toukan, Jordan's Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, to discuss strengthening the partnership between their ministries, the Egyptian ministry said in a statement. Al-Mashat affirmed the Egyptian state's keenness to continue developing relations between the two countries, which she said enjoy direct support from their respective political leaderships to achieve economic integration. The ministers discussed activating an executive programme signed between Egypt's Institute of National Planning (INP) and the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation. Al-Mashat highlighted the pivotal role of the Joint Higher Committee, the oldest of all Arab bilateral higher committees, in supporting and strengthening joint economic, trade, investment, and cultural relations. She welcomed the cooperation and exchange of expertise in development planning and sustainable development, noting that a Memorandum of Understanding signed in August 2023 covers areas such as strategic planning, governance, and competitiveness. The two ministers also discussed the possibility of exchanging expertise on their efforts to implement the recommendations of the 'Public Governance Review,' which was launched by both countries in cooperation with the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). Additionally, they discussed joint coordination in international forums to advance global efforts to implement the outcomes of the 4th International Conference on Financing for Development, especially regarding reforms of the global financial architecture and the United Nations system.

Renowned Egyptian novelist Sonallah Ibrahim dies at 88
Renowned Egyptian novelist Sonallah Ibrahim, a pioneering figure in modern Arabic literature known for his politically charged and historically rich works, has died at the age of 88, state media reported on Wednesday. Ibrahim passed away in a Cairo hospital after being admitted for pneumonia. Born in Cairo in 1937, Ibrahim's literary and political life were deeply intertwined. He studied law but was drawn to journalism and politics, joining the Egyptian Communist organisation 'Hadeto.' He was arrested in 1959 and spent five years in prison, an experience that profoundly shaped his writing. After his release, he worked for the Egyptian News Agency and later for the German News Agency in East Berlin. He also studied cinematography in Moscow before returning to Cairo in 1974 to dedicate himself to writing full-time. His literary output was characterised by historical documentation and a focus on the political conditions in Egypt and the Arab world, often interwoven with elements of his personal life. Among his most famous works are the novels 'Sharaf' (Honor), 'The Committee,' 'Zaat,' and 'Beirut, Beirut.' Several of his works are considered classics of modern Arabic literature, with some included in the list of the top 100 Arab novels. Ibrahim was known for his uncompromising political stances, famously refusing the prestigious Arab Novel Award from Egypt's Supreme Council for Culture in 2003 in protest of government policies. He did, however, accept other significant Arab awards, including the Ibn Rushd Prize for Freedom of Thought in 2004 and the Cavafy Prize for Literature in 2017. Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly mourned the passing of the great writer, offering his condolences to his family and the entire Arab literary community. Madbouly said Ibrahim's rich literary legacy would make him an 'immortal icon in the journey of Arab creativity and one of the pioneers of contemporary Egyptian literature.' The prime minister added that Ibrahim's prolific work, which enriched the Arab literary library, was a 'true mirror of society with all its contradictions,' and praised his deep handling of complex societal issues and his ability to create vivid characters.
