Charges laid after woman sexually assaulted in Calgary hotel room: police

Calgary police say charges have been laid against a man accused of sexually assaulting a woman in a northeast hotel room last month.
The incident occurred at 3 p.m. on May 16, at a hotel located in the 100 block of Freeport Boulevard N.E.
Police said the suspect entered the hotel and met with a woman in a room.
The suspect allegedly threatened the woman with a knife while demanding cash, her cellphone and the room safe.
Police say the man restrained the victim before sexually assaulting her several times.
He then left, allegedly taking with him an undisclosed amount of cash and the victim's cellphone.
Anas Hussain, 18, of Calgary is charged with sexual assault, robbery, forcible confinement and uttering threats.
He's scheduled to appear in court on June 18.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 403-266-1234.
Tips can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
In Canada, there is no time limit on reporting a sexual assault.
Anyone who believes they are a victim of sexual assault is encouraged to report it, even if many years have passed.

17-year-old driver busted going 180km/hr on Highway 3:OPP
OPP pulled over the driver on Highway 3 near Malden Road in Tecumseh, Ont., on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. (Source: OPP) Essex County OPP are reminding young drivers the responsibilities on the road after a teen was pulled over going 180 kilometres per hour of Highway 3. An officer from the Tecumseh Detachment conducted a traffic stop Tuesday night just before 9 p.m. on Highway 3 near Malden Road in Tecumseh. Police say the 17-year-old driver was going 180 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone. 'It is not only in violation of the Highway Traffic Act, it is also irresponsible and places the safety of your passengers and all other drivers on the road in danger,' states a social media post from OPP. According to police, there were more passengers than seatbelts available in the vehicle. 'As a new driver, there are many responsibilities you accept to take on to have the privilege to drive on Ontario roads,' say OPP. Police are also reminding drivers you need to have all your required vehicle documents in order. As a result of the stop, the teen driver from Windsor was charged with: -Drive Motor Vehicle - Perform stunt - Excessive speed -Class G2 licence holder - more passengers than seat belts -Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle -Fail to have insurance card A roadside drivers licence suspension and vehicle impoundment as per statute, as well as a date to face these charges in court

At least $6K in tools stolen from van in Guelph
Guelph Police are looking for tips after tools worth thousands of dollars were stolen from a van over the weekend. The employee of a company, based on Laird Road, told police the van had been parked in their lot when someone broke in and stole the tools. Items taken included a Honda generator, circular saw and impact driver. Police said the estimated cost was around $6,000 to $7,000. The employee also told officers they thought they saw some of the tools listed for sale in Peel Region. Police are asking anyone with information to call Const.
