
CM promises Faisalabad mass transit system, electric buses
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has announced that a metro bus service will be launched in Faisalabad next year.
Addressing a Laptop and Honhaar Scholarship Phase-II ceremony at GC University Faisalabad, she announced that green electric buses would also be launched in the city.
She said a Faisalabad Development Plan would be initiated, following the model of Lahore. She also vowed to make the rural settlements of Faisalabad division into model villages with a uniform development pattern with cities.
The chief minister also said, "The whole nation takes pride in the bravery of our officers and soldiers of the armed forces who defeated the enemy on every front. Pakistan got a historic victory. If the people were divided and the leadership was not united, we could not have achieved such a historic victory against the enemy. The historic victory united the entire nation."
She highlighted, "Our security forces bravely fought the war against the enemy and the entire nation stood behind them in every respect. We not only won the war but also ensured a bright future for the entire nation."

Eid-ul-Azha: CM directs admin to improve arrangements
LAHORE: "I will personally monitor cleanliness situation on Eid, negligence will not be tolerated at all," said Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif while directing the district administration to improve arrangements on the occasion of Eid-ul-Azha. She also directed them to spray phenyl and rose water after cleaning like the last year, besides ensuring cleanliness in cattle markets too. She added, "Complaints about cleanliness should be immediately redressed everywhere including cities and villages. Special arrangements should be made to keep traffic flowing around cattle markets." The Chief Minister said, "A ban should also be ensured on throwing animal waste into canals and drains etc." She directed them to further activate provincial, divisional, district and tehsil level control rooms. Pollution-free Punjab: CM Maryam seeks public support
LAHORE: Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has made an appeal to the citizens for extending their complete cooperation in launching 'Plastic and Pollution-Free Punjab' campaign. On the direction of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, 'Zero Plastic, Zero Pollution' campaign has been launched under the auspices of government and private schools, offices and the Environment Protection Agency (EPA) across the province. The aim behind launching this campaign is to inform and impart awareness to the general public regarding usage of dangerous and life-threatening plastic for their lives. During the campaign, the youth and children in particular are to be imparted awareness with regard to plastic causing air pollution and other fatal diseases including cancer. The students will be encouraged to use cloth bags and paper products as alternatives to plastic. Environmental Protection Agency officers informed that plastic bags should not be used by and large including government and private offices. On the direction of the Chief Minister, tree plantation activities were also organized to celebrate the World Environment Day. She in her special message urged the youth to become an environment-friendly force. She highlighted that protecting the environment amounts to protecting life adding that it is a national obligation of all and sundry.
