Sweet Moment Rescue Dog Steps Up to Help her Blind Brother Find His Ball

A video showing the moment a blind dog struggled to find his ball, only for his sister to step in and help him, has melted hearts online.
Bear the mastiff and Staffordshire bull terrier mix simply loves playing fetch and chasing after his toys outside. That can prove challenging, however, as Bear is completely blind and sometimes struggles to locate the objects.
Thankfully, his protective canine sister, named Peach, is more than happy to step in and be his eyes. Their owner, Paige Parker, 30, told Newsweek that Peach "often helps Bear if he's struggling" to find his toys or find his way back during a walk.
On this occasion, Peach walked outside to where Bear was and stood near his ball until he was able to sniff it out.
"I threw the ball for Bear, and, because it was a windy day with an overload of smells, he struggled to find it," Parker, of Adelaide, Australia, said. "Bear looked for a couple minutes before running up to Peach, who was sitting on the couch outside. She instantly knew what he wanted because she had been watching him."

Parker captured the adorable moment and shared it on TikTok (@thelifeofphilly), and it melted plenty of hearts. In just a matter of days, the video has generated over 263,000 views and more than 41,500 likes at the time of writing.
Bear's blindness is caused by complications his mom suffered during pregnancy. She had to have a Caesarean, and out of her eight puppies, Bear was the only one who survived. After he started nursing, it became clear that his mom had an infection, which passed down to Bear, affecting his eyes.
"His eyes started to bulge when he was still at the rescue, so they fundraised to get them removed when he was a pup," Parker said.
She adopted Bear from the rescue Hear No Evil when he was 5 months old, while Peach is also a rescue who came from Life of Pikelet.
Bear has learned to use his sense of smell to guide him, whether that is to find Peach, his toys, or his bed. Parker said that he has developed a map of their home in his mind by using smell, memory, and the change in floors to help him navigate.
They two dogs have developed an extraordinary bond that enables Peach to know exactly what Bear needs, and it allows him to rely on his sister whenever he is stuck.
Parker said: "Sometimes, Bear can get stressed if he smells something unusual, and Peach will go up to him and nudge him so he calms down instantly. We walk them both off lead, and if it's windy and he's struggling to hear us, she will run up to him and they walk back together.
"They bonded instantly, and it felt like he had always been part of our family. They have never had a fight, and we love seeing them together cuddling, playing, and hanging out," the dogs' owner added.
After sharing the video of Peach helping Bear find his ball, Parker has been blown away by supportive response online. She said she hopes it will encourage more people to consider adopting a blind or deaf dog, telling Newsweek that they aren't nearly as difficult to care for as people might think, and they can still live such fulfilling lives.
The viral TikTok video has amassed over 1,000 comments already, as many social-media users praised the adorable bond that Peach and Bear have.
One comment reads: "I was so sad for him until his beautiful sister came to the rescue. Oh my heart!"
Another TikTok user wrote: "too cute to have a guide from his big sister."
A third commenter added: "This is the most precious thing ever."

"Emotionally, I feel free and liberated now that they're gone. I truly felt like I was walking around with scars — mainly on my arms, which were hard to hide unless I wore long sleeves. And I did — almost every day — for my own sanity and to protect them from the sun," she says. Stewart tells PEOPLE that the week after each tattoo removal session "was the most brutal," and recommends those who find themselves in a similar situation to eat a healthy diet, exercise and cut back on alcohol, as the lymphatic system plays a crucial role in tattoo removal by clearing ink particles from the body. "Blown away" by her results, Stewart says that she will "absolutely never" get tattoos again. 'All of the conspiracy theories coming out and a lot of evidence behind them — that Israel has been behind World War I, World War II, September 11, October 7 — they allowed all of this stuff to happen. Is this crazy?' Kattan said on camera in her since-removed TikTok post, which included other unfounded claims about Israel. 'Like, I had a feeling — I was like, 'Are they behind every world war?'
