The match, held at the Olympic Sports Centre Gymnasium, saw the Malaysian fourth seeds dominate with a 22-20, 21-12 victory in just 35 minutes.
This marks their second straight win against the world number 29 pair, having previously defeated them at the Singapore Open in May.
Tang Jie-Ee Wei, currently ranked fourth in the world, will now face China's Gao Jia Xuan-Wu Meng Ying in the next round on Thursday.
Meanwhile, fellow Malaysians Hoo Pang Ron-Cheng Su Yin suffered an early exit after falling 21-15, 21-16 to the same Chinese pair in another first-round clash.

Khairy, affectionately known as KJ, said he was grateful to have claimed a memorable win over the 37-year-old mixed martial arts (MMA) star. "I've always wanted to step into a boxing ring, and I never imagined I would get the opportunity today. "To face off against a highly respected martial artist like Saiful 'The Vampire' Merican — it's truly an honour," he said. The friendly match had reportedly been in the works since last year, but only materialised on Sunday. Khairy, who has known Saiful for some time, described sharing the ring with the Malaysian MMA athlete as a meaningful experience. "He gave me some room in the first two minutes, but when he punched — he really punched," he added with a smile. Khairy also expressed appreciation to everyone who made the match possible, including his coach and his son, Jibriel Ali Jamaluddin, who served as his cornerman. Aside from the headline bout, the event also featured a match between Hot FM's Bekfes presenter AG and Adli Goldenboy, which ended in a draw. Another crowd favourite was a friendly arm-wrestling match between presenter Fara Fauzana and singer Elizabeth Tan, with Tan emerging victorious.

Malaysia takes third place at Genting World Lion Dance Championship
GENTING HIGHLANDS: Malaysia clinched third place at the 15th Genting World Lion Dance Championship, held at the Arena of Stars. The Petaling Jaya Catholic High School Alumni Association Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe, making their debut, scored 9.59 points to secure the podium finish. They received USD6,000, a trophy, and medals presented by Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Michael Oh Head, a member of the troupe, shared his pride in representing Malaysia despite the pressure. 'We gave our best performance and will keep training to improve. We hope for more opportunities to bring glory to the country,' he told Bernama. Two other Malaysian teams, Kwong Ngai Lion Dance and Malaysia Xuan Long Dragon and Lion Dance Rawang Selangor, also reached the finals. Kwong Ngai finished seventh with 8.89 points, while the Rawang team withdrew due to a member's injury. Siow Ho Phiew, advisor to the Malaysian Lion Dance Association, praised the teams' achievements. 'Having three Malaysian teams in the finals is a major accomplishment that enhances our global reputation,' he said. Singapore dominated the event, with Yi Mei Athletic Association's B Team winning first place (9.78 points) and their A Team securing second (9.66 points). They took home USD18,000 and USD10,000, respectively. Spencer Lee of Resorts World Genting highlighted the event's evolution, noting the creative use of props and storytelling. 'Lion dance is now both a cultural performance and a high-stamina sport. We hope it becomes an international event, possibly in the SEA or Asian Games,' he said. WUG 2025: Malaysia's 4x100m men's finish last in final
BOCHUM: A risky move by the national men's 4x100 metre (m) quartet did not work out after finishing last in the final of the Rhine-Ruhr World University Games (WUG) 2025 at Lohrheidestadion here, tonight Malaysia time. In the highlight race, which was also the closing event of athletics competition, the national quartet made a change in strategy by bringing in Mohamad Raimi Mustaffa Kamal to team up with Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam, Mohammad Thaqif Mohammad Hisham and Muhammad Azeem Mohd Fahmi. However, the strategy did not give the expected result after they recorded a time of 40.19 seconds (s), which was slower than the 39.83s recorded in the first round early this morning Malaysia time. For the record, in the national quartet's tactical move, Aliff Iman Mohd Fahimi was to compete in the first round while Mohamad Raimi would be fielded in the final.
