Former Celtic chairman and SFA president Jack McGinn dies aged 92
A statement said he 'passed away peacefully at St Margaret's Hospice in Clydebank surrounded by family and friends'.

McGinn first started working for Celtic in the mid-1960s as the first editor of the Celtic View, the first club newspaper in British football.
He later took on a senior role in the club's commercial department and joined the board, becoming chairman in 1986.
He stepped down as chairman in 1991 and left the Celtic board months after Fergus McCann's takeover in 1994. He had several roles with the SFA before becoming president in 1997 and stepping down six years later.
He is survived by his eight children. His youngest son, Francis, said: 'My dad was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed by us all.

'As a dad, grandfather and great-grandfather, we couldn't have asked for anyone better.
'He lived a long, happy and fulfilling life and we all take great comfort from the fact that he is now at peace.
'On behalf of the family, I'd like to thank Sister Rita and all her team at St Margaret's Hospice and all of the wonderful NHS staff for helping my dad to be as comfortable as possible in the past weeks and months.'
McGinn was the grandfather of three successful footballing brothers – former St Mirren captain Stephen McGinn, Motherwell skipper Paul McGinn and Scotland and Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn.

The two discussed the Glasgow sides' results over the weekend after Celtic cruised past Aberdeen with a 2-0 win to continue their 100 per cent start, while Rangers faltered at home to Dundee with a 1-1 draw. It means that, after two games of the season, four points already separate the Old Firm rivals – while it's Hearts who lead the way on goal difference at the top. McCoist's co-host Ray Parlour was in a mischievous mood and he'd been trying to get a rise out of the Ibrox legend throughout the morning. When Lennon came on though, he wasn't having the idea that a four-point gap between the sides at this stage is insurmountable. He said: "No, it's early days. With Rangers, they've got to qualify for the Champions League, so I always think there are mitigating circumstances this time of year. "They're playing tough European games midweek then having to play teams who are really motivated at the weekend, I've had problems myself in those sort of spells. "Russell's just in the door. He's still got to put his imprint on the team. "But the bloodlust up here, it's ridiculous. One or two games and people are questioning his tenure. Then on the other side of the city, people are questioning Brendan after a perfect start to the season. You've just got to be laser-focused and try to block out the noise. It's ridiculous!" Speaking earlier on the show, McCoist read out a script to lead into some Premiership chat and he was adamant the writers in the production room were at the wind-up. He read out, "Celtic continued their perfect start to the Scottish Premiership season...' before interrupting: "Hang on they've won two games, man! What's going on? Perfect start? He's trying to wind me up in there!" He continued reading: "Winning 2-0 at Aberdeen, who themselves now sit rock bottom. Russell Martin, meanwhile, made unwanted history at Rangers as they failed to win in their opening two league games for the first time since 1989 - which I was probably responsible for - drawing 1-1 at home with Dundee. Is the title race already over?" After finishing the script, McCoist then said: "Give it a break lads, come on!" That was when Parlour announced that Lennon would be coming on the show as he said: "We'll be asking Neil Lennon if the Scottish title race is already over!" A laughing McCoist replied: "I'm not biting!"

Instead, it was more domestic woe for the Light Blues as they needed a last gasp penalty to rescue a 1-1 draw. The Gers have taken just two points from their first two Premiership matches and already trail rivals Celtic by four points. The fans inside Ibrox on Saturday were vocal in their displeasure, resoundingly booing Martin's substitutions and also jeering at the final whistle. It's very early days, of course, but the heat is already on the boss from some sections of the support. Celtic legend Neil Lennon thinks that's 'ridiculous' so early on. Appearing on talkSPORT Breakfast with Ally McCoist, Lennon said: "It's early days. Lennon was also referring to Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers' comments in the aftermath of the Hoops' 2-0 win over Aberdeen. Rodgers took issue with criticism of his style of football, saying: "I heard something the other day about 'we don't play good football and we haven't in the last two years.' "So I think there's a number of people that really don't like me here at Celtic. "But with me and looking at the team, I'm really happy to see how the players are, the current players that we have." Going back to Rangers, McCoist stated his belief that Rangers need to strengthen still at the back and in the striker department. But Lennon reckons things are more deep-rooted and it's the entire CULTURE of the club that Martin needs to change first and foremost. He continued: "They've still got a problem with the culutre in the dressing room. "They played great against Plzen and then find it difficult to raise their game for the bread and butter games. "That was so apparent last year when they had some great victories and then couldn't do it in the bread and butter games, particularly at home. "He needs to address that as quickly as possible and just get more consistency out of results. McCoist agreed, responding: "I think you're right. Lenny, it's a mentality thing. It's a mentality issue. "With Rangers and Celtic you can be playing in the San Siro or whever but equal importance is when you go to Fir Park or Pittodrie, it's a mental thing more than anything." Rangers face Viktoria Plzen again tomorrow night with a 3-0 advantage from the first leg. If they finish the job, they'll advance to the Champions League play-off round with a place on the league stage on the line against either Red Bull Salzburg or Club Brugge. When is Celtic's Champions League transfer deadline? Squad registration D-Day and late get out of jail card
Time is running out for Brendan Rodgers to add new faces before the Champions League playoff D-Day The stopwatch is ticking for Brendan Rodgers as Celtic edge closer to their £40million Champions League shootout. The Hoops are now just days away from having to register their squad for the money-spinning playoff against either Kairat Almaty or Slovan Bratislava. Kazakh champs Almaty hold a precious 1-0 lead heading to Slovakia on Tuesday, when Celts will discover who stands between them and a place at football's richest table. The two-legged blockbuster will take place on Wednesday, August 20 and Tuesday, August 26, with the first tie being hosted at Celtic Park. Crucially, the Parkhead giants have until Thursday, August 14 to register their squad for the most lucrative games of the season. While there is some wiggle room - clubs can add up to two additional players 24 hours before kick off - Rodgers admits he's still unsure whether reinforcements will arrive in time. The Premiership winners are aiming to secure safe passage to the revamped league phase - traditionally known as the group stage - for the fourth year running. But speaking after Sunday's 2-0 win at Aberdeen, Rodgers admitted he's still in the dark on incoming deals. He said: "I really don't know at this point. I think for us, it's something that we know we need to do. 'But in the meantime, we'll work with the players that are here until our reinforcements arrive." Celtic have already avoided potential landmines in the draw, swerving dangerous ties against the champions of Switzerland and Austria. But while Bratislava and Almaty are arguably easier draws on paper compared to FC Basel or Sturm Graz, both clubs are still capable of punishing the Hoops - especially on home territory. Rodgers has cleared the final Champions League playoff hurdle twice before with Celtic in 2016 and 2017. However, after crashing out to AEK Athens in 2018 amidst another frustrating summer window, Rodgers knows all to well the unforgiving nature of these qualifiers.
