Next few games 'massive' in bid to beat drop
Joe Ralls says Cardiff City are facing a "massive" spell in their season as they attempt to pull clear of the Championship relegation scrap. The Bluebirds are 20th in the table and only two points out of the drop zone. With only six points between 18th-placed Portsmouth and bottom-club Luton Town, the battle at the bottom is compelling.Cardiff host Bristol City in the Severnside derby on Saturday (12:30 GMT) before fixtures against fellow strugglers Plymouth and Hull. "I think all the teams that are down there, including us, want to try and get to the next pack in that sort of mid-table, which is not too far away," Cardiff skipper Ralls told BBC Sport Wales."There are some good sides that are really fighting and trying to pick up points and we're in that category as well."We've got massive games coming up where we need to get a couple of points and pull ourselves away from that area. We're in the crunch now."Cardiff have suffered two league defeats so far in February, but Ralls believes the club's January additions will help Omer Riza's side in the weeks eahd."Will [Alves] looks really, really sharp," he said. "Sivert [Mannsverk] as well has settled in really well. They're going to be a massive part of it and we've got a big squad when everyone's fit."That will only be a benefit for us, especially with the games coming through thick and fast."

Belgium will be ‘shaking in boots' ahead of Wales game in Cardiff
Sorba Thomas believes Belgium will be 'shaking in their boots' at the prospect of playing Wales in Cardiff. Belgium inflicted Craig Bellamy's first defeat as Wales head coach with an extraordinary 4-3 World Cup qualifying victory in Brussels on Monday. People will say 'little old Wales' but we took the game to them. 'They're going to be shaking in their boots when they come to Cardiff to play us. We're hungry, we're a young group. 'I felt when it went to 3-3 it was in our hands. But it's a devastating game, football is a horrible sport sometimes. (Against) top 10 in the world and we feel we should have walked away with a win.' Brennan Johnson (second right) celebrates with teammates after scoring Wales' third goal against Belgium (Geert Vanden Wijngaert/AP) There was a party atmosphere inside the King Baudouin Stadium as home supporters began a Mexican wave. Thomas said: 'Them behaving like that put it down to the pitch. The players got relaxed and we punished that. 'They might have been doing the Mexican wave but they weren't doing it when it went to 3-3. Advertisement 'They're entitled to do what they want, but we deal with what's on the pitch. The whole game shifted. 'We're a young team and we're going places. That's one loss in 10. We'll learn from this and get better and better.' After Harry Wilson converted a penalty in first-half stoppage time, winger Thomas scored his first Wales goal and then set up Brennan Johnson's equaliser to cap a memorable week. Sorba is a Stokie 🔴⚪ — Stoke City FC (@stokecity) June 7, 2025 'Personally it's been one heck of a week,' said Thomas, who has spent the season on loan at Ligue 1 club Nantes. 'I've secured my future and got my first Wales goal. I hope my family all watching at home were proud. 'I've loved my time at Huddersfield. They took me from non-league and made my dreams reality to play for Wales and put me in this moment. Advertisement 'To get it (the move) done early was important because I can focus on my football. 'I want to play well in the Championship every week next season and give the manager a headache to keep putting me in the team.'

Gyokeres expected to join Man Utd as Haaland role emerges - 'I know him well'
Viktor Gyokeres is looking to head to Manchester United this summer according to singer and Coventry City fan Tom Grennan - who has remained friendly with the Sporting Lisbon star Viktor Gyokeres will head to Manchester United this summer so that he can be neighbours with Erling Haaland according to musician Tom Grennan. The Swede has excelled at Sporting Lisbon for the past two years, which has resulted in interest from around Europe. The Premier League is touted as his most likely destination with the Red Devils and Arsenal the two leading the race for his signature. Gyokeres scored more than 50 goals last term and has been tipped to reunite with Amorim in Manchester after the Portuguese boss swapped Lisbon for Old Trafford midway through the campaign. United are looking to bolster their forward line and Gyokeres would be able to supply goals on a regular basis. His career has skyrocketed since he left Championship side Coventry City. Grennan is a fan of the Sky Blues and remains good pals with their former striker. He said on the BBC podcast You About?: "I know him well. I actually messaged him and he said that there's different conversations going on. Do you know who his best friend is? Haaland. That is why I think he'll go to Manchester United because he'll be next door to Haaland." Haaland has been hugely impressive and successful during his three years in England. He's just missed out on the Premier League title for the first time but has broken numerous records since swapping Borussia Dortmund for Manchester City. Those on the blue half of Manchester remain the city's dominant force and finished some 29 points ahead of United. Amorim is tasked with making the Red Devils a winning-outfit once more and adding Gyokeres would help their chances and the striker has an agreement to leave the club. However it is understood that Gyokeres has been left fuming with Sporting after they demanded more for him than they promised as he looks for a way out of the Portuguese club. The Lisbon outfit have been demanding £67million for him. Previously they agreed that they would demand £50m plus £8.4m in add-ons this summer - meaning they asked for almost £10m more, reports Record. The Swede recently addressed his future and said: 'Let us see. It's hard for me to say, because yeah it is football and you never know what's going to happen in the summer. So for me to say anything else than that is impossible.'

Promotion: Tony Pulis doesn't rule out Wrexham going up
That is the view of Tony Pulis who believes nothing is impossible at The Racecourse. The Reds finished runners-up in League One last term to go straight up to the Championship where they will line-up for the first time in 43 years. Having made history by clinching back-to-back-to-back promotions, with the club climbing from the National League to the second tier at a rapid rate, Wrexham will make the biggest step-up yet when they come up against the likes of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton. But former Premier League manager Pulis says Parkinson knows that is needed in this division, where he managed Bolton Wanderers, and refuses to discount Wrexham. Pulis told BoyleSports, who offer the latest football odds, "Phil Parkinson has experience of Championship football. He'll understand what's needed. "To get three promotions, I don't care what anybody says, to get three promotions on the bounce is just exceptional. "They are in such a positive place at the moment, the crowd are behind them massively and they'll have to be next year as well because the level moves up again, but nothing is impossible. "The fans will really get behind them and it's going to be an interesting league next year. Very, very interesting. "It'll be interesting to see what Wrexham do and what they can achieve."
