Shwetha Menon says assault survivor is ‘welcome' to return to AMMA: ‘Those who left AMMA should come back'
Actor Shwetha Menon has been elected as the first-ever female president of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA). In an interaction with Matrubhumi, Shwetha said that the survivor of the actress assault case, who was once part of the organisation, would be welcomed back if she made the decision to return. Shwetha Menon has been appointed as the new president of AMMA after Mohanlal's resignation. (Instagram: @robbin_fotografia) What Shwetha said Shwetha said, 'There are many issues that need to be resolved. We cannot remain stuck on just one point. She was once part of the organisation but chose to resign. If she returns, it would be welcome. But if you ask whether it's an urgent agenda item, it is not. I am not bringing in rules from my own household. There are specific rules and bylaws that apply to reinstating former members.' 'Those who left AMMA should come back' She went on to add, 'Those who left AMMA should come back. That's the wish of the majority of our members. Everyone wonders why they distanced themselves. Personally, I wish for their return. Maybe one meeting won't be enough — it might take ten or even a hundred meetings. I hope the executive committee and general body will support my personal mission. As the president, I will take the initiative.' However, Shwetha clarified that those who are facing allegations must step aside as it is a matter of 'social responsibility.' Last year in August, senior Malayalam actor Siddique resigned from the post of general secretary of the AMMA following rape and sexual assault allegations from a female actor. The allegations of sexual assault and rape were reiterated after the release of the Hema Committee Report, which she had first made in 2019 through a Facebook post. The alleged incident took place in a hotel in 2016. Following intense criticism, actor Mohanlal resigned from the position of President of AMMA in the same month.

YouTube Music now lets you skip the awkward silence in podcasts: Here's how
With millions of free and paid users worldwide, YouTube Music is undoubtedly one of the best ways to tune in to your favourite music. Last year, Google announced it would discontinue its official Podcasts app and merge it with YouTube Music, but soon after, many users complained that the music streaming app was missing out on several useful features. But now, the tech giant is rolling out a new button that Google's Podcasts app has had since 2018. Initially spotted in March of 2024 in an APK teardown, the new 'trim silence' feature is now available in YouTube Music. As the name suggests, it lets YouTube Music users skip those awkward and lengthy silences in podcasts, meaning you will now be able to listen to the show without wasting a couple of minutes just to realise that no one is talking in the podcast. While it does run the risk of skipping out on any intentional suspense generated by the podcast makers, if you are looking for a way to quickly listen to podcasts, this is really handy. To use the new feature, simply start any podcast in YouTube Music and tap on the button labelled 1x, which appears on the bottom left of the screen and lets you control the playback speed. Now, click on the toggle named 'Trim Silence' to skip those awkward periods of silence. At the time of writing, the feature did make an appearance on the latest version of YouTube Music, but it is still unclear if this is being rolled out via a server-side update or a software update. Available for both free and YouTube Premium users, at the time of writing, the 'Trim Silence' button only appears on the Android version of the app. This means iPhone users will have to wait a while to get the new feature.

Karisma Kapoor's 'daughter' who quit IIT for films, failed in Bollywood, directors stopped giving her roles due to..., she is now..
Karisma Kapoor's 'daughter' who quit IIT for films, failed in Bollywood, directors stopped giving her roles due to..., she is now.. In the ever-evolving world of Bollywood, fame is always fleeting. Where one day an actor would rise to fame, and the next they would fade into thin air like they never existed. One such similar tale is of an actress who was once considered the next big thing in acting and who gained immense fame in the 1990s. Her breakthrough moment came when she played Kasima Kapoor's on-screen daughter in the hit TV show Karishma, The Miracles of Destiny, and soon she became a household name. But this actress, who was once a promising young actress, made a life-changing decision that took her from film sets to the boardrooms of multinational companies. Today, she is celebrated not for her acting but for her corporate leadership as the Head of Google India. Who is Mayoori Kango? Yes, the person we are talking about is none other than Mayoori Kango. Born on 15 August 1982, Mayoori was an academically bright individual who even got selected for IIT. But destiny had other plans. While she was preparing for her board exams, she got an offer for the film Naseem in 1995. In the film, she played a 16-year-old Muslim girl during the Babri Masjid turmoil. She captivated everyone with her innocence, and her natural performance won hearts. Later, filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt cast her in Papa Kehte Hain (1996), whose soulful song ' Ghar se nikalte hi…' made her an overnight sensation. From Bollywood films to corporate boardrooms After this, Mayoori worked in nearly 16 films, including Betaabi (1997), Hogi Pyar Ki Jeet (1999), Badal (2000), Papa The Great (2000), and Jung. She also worked in Telugu cinema with Vamsi. She also worked on television and became popular with shows like Dollar Bahu, Thoda Gham Thodi Khushi, Kitty Party, and Karishma, The Miracles of Destiny. Despite her talent, many of her films failed at the box office, and gradually, directors stopped approaching her. This pushed Mayoori to rethink her future. In 2003, she tied the knot with investment banker Aditya Dhillon and moved to the US. There, she completed her MBA and worked in corporate roles. From 2004 to 2012, she worked in America, and in 2011, she embraced motherhood and welcomed her son, Kiyan. In 2013, she came back to India and joined a digital marketing agency as managing director. Recognising her skills, Google appointed her as the Head of Google India Industry in 2019, a position very few actors-turned-professionals achieve. Mayoori also spoke in her interviews and admitted that leaving films was not easy, but it was necessary.
