Primark's 'sleek' £5 bag looks 'just like' £200 L.K. Bennett version
Primark is stocking a new bag that bears a striking resemblance to a pricier alternative. Known for its affordable fashion and homeware, the high street giant may have just introduced a new must-have.
The retailer's Textured Zip Top Crossbody Bag looks similar to a style by designer brand L.K. Bennett but at a fraction of the cost. Shoppers can snag the Primark version for £5, while the other version is currently priced at £199 online.
The bags are very similar, with a leather-look design and textured finish in a matching black shade. They also both feature a similar structured shape, zip closure, gold-tone hardware and a crossbody strap.
However, there are also a number of differences - including that the Primark bag is faux leather, while L.K. Bennett's is made with leather. The designer bag also features the brand's logo on the front, which the Primark bag is missing.
Primark describes the bag as a "textured crossbody bag with zip closure and a compact shape for easy everyday wear." It is available in black, ecru, blush and light green.
Primark describes the bag as a "textured crossbody bag with zip closure and a compact shape for easy everyday wear." It is available in black, ecru, blush and light green.
Primark's full product description reads: "Add a sleek finish to your look with this textured zip top crossbody bag. Its stylish, raised texture gives it a modern, elevated feel. The secure zip top closure keeps your essentials safe, while the crossbody strap makes it easy to go hands-free.
"Compact but roomy enough for your phone, keys and everyday bits, it's a great pick for day-to-night plans. Whether you're heading out for errands or dressing up for the evening, this bag adds an effortless style boost!"
The L.K. Bennett description states: "A chic cross-body bag in our spring collection, the Hudson is a contemporary everyday style. Crafted in Italy from beautiful croc-effect leather in versatile black, it has an adjustable-length cross-body strap, a front pocket with a hidden press stud, double zip detail and it's fabric-lined with a slip pocket. It's designed to throw on and go, for this season and beyond."
Primark's Textured Zip Top Crossbody Bag is priced at £5, while the L.K. Bennett Hudson Black Croc-Effect Leather Cross-Body Bag comes in at £199. This means shoppers could save £194 by opting for the budget version.
Customers can grab the Primark bag, which comes in black, ecru, blush and light green, in stores now. You can check availability at your nearest store here.

In those two countries, the app lets shoppers browse products, check in-store stock availability and save items so they can go back and buy them later on. Customers can also use a store locator tool to find their nearest branch and change their settings to receive notifications when new collections and items come in. Customers can download the app for free onto their smartphone via the Apple App Store or Google Play Store by searching for "Primark" or "Penneys". Primark said the launch of the app in Italy and Ireland will let it "test and learn how customers" interact with it. This will "inform further development ahead of future launches", including the UK. Matt Houston, chief customer and digital officer, said: "We know our customers increasingly start their shopping journey online, whether that's checking what's new or planning a visit, and the app gives them the tools to do that in a more intuitive, personalised way." The launch of the app comes after Primark rolled out new websites in 17 countries over the last three years including one in the UK in 2022. Meanwhile, in May, the retailer confirmed it had finished the roll out of click and collect at 187 stores. When the new store launched, a spokesperson said: "Keeping up with the latest homeware trends and must-have interiors, Primark Home combines style, comfort and value to help shoppers make a house a home. "From high-quality essentials like cotton bedding and towels to on-trend soft furnishings, decorative pieces, small furniture and unique, quirky kitchen ceramics that will elevate any space." Meanwhile, Primark sparked shopper fury among some customers in May by introducing a charge for its paper bags. Since May 12, shoppers now have to pay 15p for paper bags, regardless of size - small, medium, or large. Explaining the decision, the retailer said: 'We've introduced a small fee for single-use paper bags. "Have a reusable bag? Bring it with you next time you shop! "Why the change? Research shows that charging for bags reduces the number of new bags customers use. "It's a simple step that encourages all of us to think twice about our use." A short history of Primark Primark first opened in 1969 as Penneys in Dublin hoping to provide affordable fashion in Ireland. A Primark store officially opened as Primark in 1974 in Derby. Shoppers cry ‘prayers have been answered' as Primark finally adds £20 item to rails & they're great for petite gals
FINDING the perfect pair of jeans can be a nightmare - especially if you're a shorter gal. But a petite Primark worker has insisted a new store arrival is the answer to any denim problems. 4 4 4 4 And with autumn on the way, it's the perfect time to stock up on transitional buys that can be styled with jumpers just as easily as cropped camis. The baggy low rise jeans, available in mid blue, come in sizes four to 18. Primark bosses say the loose fit jeans give "plenty of room to move" and have a cute detail for an "extra twist". In their online description, they add: "These jeans mix throwback utility style with a fresh, modern feel. "Made in a medium wash denim, they come in a loose, wide leg fit that gives plenty of room to move. "The front and back patch pockets are big and bold, with a utility style loop on the leg adding an extra twist. "Easy to throw on with a tee or crop top, these jeans bring a workwear vibe into your weekend wardrobe." The jeans are only £20 too, making them a purse-friendly addition to your wardrobe. With such a cheap price tag, it's no surprise that the new arrival has proved popular with fashion fans and staff alike. A 5ft 2in worker at Primark's Lincoln store modelled the jeans in a TikTok clip last week, showing they're the perfect length for shorter gals. I'm a size 18 & looked everywhere for the perfect grey jeans - I was stunned when I found them in a VERY surprising shop Alongside the video, the caption read: "We're rise jeans are here. "Who else has been waiting for low rise Primark jeans??" And shoppers seem just as excited by the addition to the denim rails, as one gushed: "My prayers have been answered." "Wait they are so cute", a second added. A third simply wrote: "Super." Meanwhile, a fourth chimed in: "These are cute!!!" Changes in store Primark is making some important changes to its kids' clothing lines following months of feedback from parents and carers. The high-street giant has announced it's making its clothing more inclusive, specifically for children who struggle with sensory issues. In a move to increase comfort, Primark is removing neck labels from its core kids' clothing and nightwear. This change means that t-shirts, sweatshirts, hoodies, and pyjamas will now feature printed labels instead. Additionally, the retailer is introducing seamless sock options. With the back-to-school season approaching, more than 50% of Primark's kids' clothing will now be neck label-free, including nearly 70% of its pyjamas. The brand has stated its ambition is to continue increasing this number in the future, ensuring more comfortable options for all children. Top Primark summer buys IF you're looking for more Primark summer buys, then you've come to the right place. Shoppers have recently been raving about the new Miffy PJs from Primark. If you're on a budget, these trousers are identical to a pair from Zara, but without the hefty price tag. There's brilliant travel essentials for less than £10. And if you plan on heading to the beach, you won't want to miss these crochet bags.
