Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, the session aimed to introduce young participants to the expressive language of classical dance.
The workshop marked the launch of Sohini's new initiative,
Land of Happy
—a programme that uses dance and storytelling to foster empathy, inclusivity, and emotional well-being among children, including neurodivergent learners.
Blending traditional Bharatanatyam elements like
mudras
,
abhinaya
, and structured postures with contemporary music, including the compositions of Beethoven, Sohini guided the children through a session that explored dance as a means of personal and collective expression.
The class focused on three thematic pillars: Shiva, nature, and inclusivity. Shiva was presented as a symbol of energy and transformation, not solely as a deity, while nature was interwoven through movement and metaphor. Inclusivity remained central throughout, as the children were encouraged to use dance as a way to tell their own stories, regardless of background or experience.
Commenting on her approach, Sohini shared, 'Let the dance, the empathy come from deep within your core—not just physically but spiritually as well—and teach you to be kind and happy.'
The session concluded with a quiet energy, leaving the children with an introduction to Bharatanatyam not just as performance, but as a pathway to self-awareness and shared understanding.

Gargi Kundu opens up about facing harsh comments on her skin and identity

Actress and content creator Gargi Kundu has opened up about the harsh criticism she has faced over the years. She revealed that she was often mocked for her skin tone, appearance, and identity. Speaking candidly, she shared how these experiences shaped her journey and strengthened her resolve. Gargi, who is known for her role in the show 'Society' on Jio Hotstar, shared, 'I was mocked for my looks every day. People called me 'behenji', said my specs were too big, and even made fun of my skin colour. It hurt—but I never let it define me.' 'It felt like I was being judged for just being myself. I wear my glasses with pride. I love my skin. And I'm not here to meet someone else's standards,' she asserted. The actress shared life inside the society house wasn't any easier for Gargi. For the unversed, Gargi Kundu began her artistic career with classical training in Bharatanatyam and folk dance, and was actively involved in theatre and Bollywood-style performances from a young age. Her early exposure to the performing arts laid the groundwork for her later work across various creative platforms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Gargi worked as a medical professional, offering help on the ground while also turning to storytelling to express the grief and uncertainty of the time. This period marked a turning point as she began creating short, relatable videos online—many of which went viral. Her growing popularity on social media led to roles in Bengali television and films, and eventually to appearances in pan-Indian OTT content including web series, music videos, and advertisements. She made her debut in the world of reality television with the show, 'Society.' The show featured 25 contestants competing in a tier-based format—Royals, Regulars, and Rags—facing daily challenges to win the title of 'Asli Baazigar.' Hosted by comedian Munawar Faruqui and co-hosted by Shreya Kalra, the show focused on social dynamics, survival, and strategy.

Kingdom Movie Review: An intense action drama grounded in emotion and craft

Story: During the British era in the 1920s, a group of people living along the Srikakulam coast fall victim to brutal killings by the colonial forces. A handful manage to escape to an island near Sri Lanka. Seventy years later, Suri, a police constable haunted by the long-lost memory of his brother Shiva, agrees to take up a covert spy mission in the hope of finding him. His journey leads him to the treacherous shores of Jaffna, now under the control of smuggling cartels. But destiny has other plans, seemingly written long before his time. Review: Gowtam Tinnanuri , known for his emotionally engaging storytelling in Jersey, brings a similar sensibility to Kingdom. Though mounted on a broader canvas with action and fictional history woven in, the film never loses sight of its emotional core. Kingdom taps into a classic saviour myth, where a displaced people hold on to ancestral belief that one day, someone bearing the signs of their ancient wisdom will lead them home. Vijay Deverakonda dials down the swagger and delivers a performance grounded in restraint, emotional depth and simmering rage. As Suri, he convincingly portrays a man carrying the weight of grief and unanswered questions. His scenes with Satyadev are some of the most affecting moments in the film. Satyadev, as Shiva, brings his natural acting flair. Bhagyashri Borse makes a sincere attempt as Madhu, though her character arc could have benefited from stronger motivations. Venkitesh VP , as Murugan, the antagonist, is a show-stealer. He brings charisma, brooding intensity and calm menace, serving as a strong narrative counterweight. The supporting cast, including Manish Chaudhari as the steely handler Jayaprakash, Ayyapa Sharma as the intimidating Divi Bhairagi, Rohini as Suguna, Babu Raj as Odiyappan, and Ajith Koshy, Bhoomi Shetty, Ravi Krishna, Navya Swami, and Mahesh Achanta, all leave an impression. The film excels in its visual and aural language. Cinematographers Girish Gangadharan and Jomon T John craft a rich visual palette, capturing the moody landscapes of coastal Sri Lanka and the earthy grit of its conflict zones. Naveen Nooli's editing keeps the narrative coherent and pacy. Anirudh Ravichander 's background score rises to the occasion, amplifying key emotional beats, though traces of familiarity with his past compositions from Devara and Vettaiyan remain. The action in Kingdom is not over the top. Instead, it is functional and well-choreographed, mostly serving the emotional stakes of the story. The film's strength lies in how the physical confrontations and conflicts are grounded in personal choices, with a maturity in the staging—whether it is Suri or Shiva making a pivotal decision. Tinnanuri's control over tone ensures that the story never veers into melodrama or spectacle for its own sake. Kingdom is not about flashy heroism or exaggerated showdowns. It is an action drama that finds strength in its emotional weight. It marks a return to form for Vijay Deverakonda, who finds the right balance between intensity and vulnerability. It's a well-crafted action drama with emotional integrity and visual flair. Nitpicking aside, Kingdom delivers an impactful cinematic experience.
