Who has the (seemingly) easiest schedule going into 2025, and who has it the roughest? While this isn't an exact science, if you're close to the pin, you sort of know how good or bad the slate is.According to our Preview 2025 preseason rankings, each team gets points by rank. We have New Mexico at 110 in the rankings. If you play the Lobos at home, you get 110 points. Get them in Albuquerque, and you get half the points, so that counts as a 55.The lower the number and score, the harder your schedule is.. Abraham Gold's Howard Wolowitz posted his third work since a five-month respite when covering five-eighths in 1:01.88 on Thursday over Saratoga Race Course's Oklahoma dirt training track for trainer Jose D' son of Munnings won the Grade 1 Franklin Simpson in September at Kentucky Downs and is eyeing a return to the unique southern Kentucky racetrack for the G1 Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint on Aug. 30.'He worked pretty good and we are looking forward to working again next week. The plan is to run at Kentucky Downs on August 30,' D'Angelo said. Howard Wolowitz was last seen finishing off-the-board in the G2 1351 Turf Sprint in February at King Abdulaziz Racecourse in Saudi Arabia, and returned to the work tab on July 13 to post a three-furlong bullet in 34.47 over the Gulfstream Park Tapeta. He returned with another bullet on July 20 when covering a half-mile in 44.36 over the same surface ahead of his move north to the Spa.'We sent him to the farm and he had some strong gallops there to get him ready for his workouts at Gulfstream,' D'Angelo said. 'I galloped him a lot at Palm Meadows to prepare for that. He worked in company both works, very good. He improved so much from the layoff, growing and maturing. He's stronger and looks so good.' D'Angelo sent out Leon King Stable Corp.'s Bentornato for a sharp half-mile work on Friday over the Spa main track, with the 4-year-old son of Valiant Minister covering the distance in a bullet 45.01. He has posted a series of breezes at Palm Meadows and Gulfstream Park as he works his way back from a layoff dating to a runner-up finish to Straight No Chaser in the Breeders' Cup Sprint in November at Del Mar.'He worked so good today and came back OK,' D'Angelo said. 'The ultimate goal is the Breeders' Cup Sprint, so we'll probably have him ready [to race] around the last week of the meet here. We don't have a race picked yet. I want to see him more ready and then figure it out.' Bentornato won a trio of stakes as a juvenile at Gulfstream, and posted a strong sophomore campaign that included a third to Forever Young in the G3 Saudi Derby and a win in the G2 Gallant Bob at Parx Racing ahead of his half-length defeat at the Breeders' Cup.D'Angelo also noted that stakes-winner Gabaldon, away since a third in the Texas Glitter in March at Gulfstream, is targeting the G3, $175,000 Mahony on Aug. 10 here, while Listed stakes-winner Spirited Boss is resting on the farm and G3-placed Cloe is targeting the G2 Music City on Sep. 6 at Kentucky Downs. Mike Pegram, a highly successful, fully colorful and notably popular horse owner and racing executive on the national scene for more than three decades, has been named the 21st recipient of the Laffit Pincay, Jr. be honored in that role at Del Mar on Sunday, August 10, the afternoon the track runs the 57th edition of the Sorrento Stakes, the race that in 1998 launched the Hall of Fame career of his exceptional filly Pincay Award, named for, and presented by, the Hall of Fame rider, goes to those who have served the sport of racing 'with integrity, extraordinary dedication, determination and distinction.' Pegram, 73, is a Kentucky native who first got into horses in the 1970s when he and his father raced Thoroughbreds. They had some luck with it and in 1985 Pegram struck up a friendship with a Quarter Horse trainer named Bob Baffert and raced some horses with him. Then in 1988, Pegram convinced Baffert that they could do better and have more fun with Thoroughbreds and they made the trainer's first purchase for his new owner was a horse named Thirty Slews, which he bought for Pegram and several partners and in 1992 the speedster captured the Breeders' Cup Sprint. Thus, a partnership and a friendship was sealed, one that would go on to do extraordinary things over the next several decades and continues to make splashes to this bought a yearling in 1996 for $17,000 and he and Baffert came within a nose of winning the 1998 Triple Crown with Real Quiet, the Derby and Preakness winner who missed by a whisker in the Belmont. He partnered with a pair of Arizona buddies – Karl Watson and Paul Weitman – and the trio has had huge success on the racing landscape. Among their stars were Lookin at Lucky, Midnight Lute and Secret Circle. Further, they additionally sent out Coil, Hoppertunity, Drill, Gaming, and McKinzie for major stakes was elected chairman of the Thoroughbred Owners of California in 2011 and was part of that group's executive body through 2019. He was named winner of the Turf Publicists of America's 'Big Sport of Turfdom' award in of racing he had success in the fast-food business with ownership of 25 McDonald's franchises and he also partnered in a five casinos in the Reno and Carson City, NV, area. Further, he sits on the board of Caesars Entertainment. His brother Jim and nephews Brad and J.R. have been successful jockey agents in Southern California. Pegram is married to Mary Ellen with a son and two daughters. They have homes in Minden, NV; Paradise Valley, AZ, and Del Mar, rode for 39 seasons, including 27 summers at Del Mar, earning five Eclipse Awards as the nation's foremost rider. He is still Del Mar's top rider for victories with 1,013. He led the country in earnings on seven different occasions while compiling his exceptional victory mark. He retired in 2003 as racing's winningest jockey with 9,530 firsts. Now 78 years old, he lives in Arcadia near Santa Anita.
