'It seems Garnacho has checked out'
Alejandro Garnacho is still a Manchester United player but it seems he has checked out of life at Old Trafford.Maybe his attitude is understandable given Ruben Amorim told him before the final Premier League game of the season he could find himself another club.Garnacho did not appear particularly engaged during the post-season trip to Malaysia and Hong Kong and has now decided it is a good idea to allow the public to see a picture of him wearing a shirt of a rival club – albeit with the name of team-mate – and fellow Amorim outcast – Marcus Rashford – on the back. The 20-year-old presumably thinks his bridges are already burned as far as Amorim and United are concerned but it won't make it easier to sell him.Former club Atletico Madrid have been mentioned as one potential destination, although their current focus is on salvaging their Club World Cup campaign, as have Chelsea, although they are keen on Borussia Dortmund's Jamie Gittens. It is another couple of weeks until United return for pre-season training but it is hard to see Garnacho playing any meaningful part in that. With the Argentine, Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony, Amorim could find himself with his own version of Chelsea's 'bomb squad', a very expensive, well-paid group of players he has no use for.

Man Utd in talks to sign £35m Chelsea flop ahead of Arsenal and Tottenham
Manchester United have reportedly held talks with the representatives of a Chelsea star who is desperate to leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Chelsea have up to 15 players up for sale as Enzo Maresca looks to trim his squad and raise additional funds for more signings. Among those whose time is up in west London is Christopher Nkunku who has failed to live up to the hype following his £52million transfer from RB Leipzig in 2023. The forward's first campaign in blue was ruined by injuries and while he remained mostly fit last season, he struggled to break into the first XI, starting just nine Premier League games and scoring three goals. He did fare better in the cup and European competitions, recording 11 goals and three assists in 15 games and helping the club win the Conference League, though he was left on the bench for the final. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link so we can send you football news tailored to you. Not in Maresca's long-term plans and hoping to secure more regular game time, Nkunku wants a transfer this summer and has been linked with a host of Premier League and European giants. Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool, Bayern Munich and Barcelona have been linked with the 27-year-old, who is under contract until 2029. But it appears United, who came close to signing Nkunku in January, may now be leading the race for his signature as L'Equipe report the Red Devils have made contact with the France international's entourage. More Trending It is said they have discussed the possibility of a transfer to Old Trafford but no offers have been made, with Chelsea hoping to recoup £35m. Appearances: 38 Starts: 11 Goals: 6 Assists: 2 Ruben Amorim is overhauling his attack and wants to sign two more forward players following the arrival of Matheus Cunha from Wolves, with Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo and Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres on his shortlist. Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Alejandro Garnacho are on the transfer list, the latter of whom has been linked with a big money transfer to Chelsea in the past. For now, Nkunku is at the Club World Cup but has played just six minutes so far at the tournament, with the Blues next in action on Wednesday against ES Tunis. Atletico Madrid vs Botafogo prediction, odds and betting offer
Atletico Madrid will be looking to get a result to secure a spot in the knockout rounds of the Club World Cup as they face surprise package Botafogo At the Club World Cup, Botafogo find themselves in an enviable position, needing just a draw against Atletico Madrid in their final Group B match to unexpectedly top the group. The Brazilian team caused quite a stir by defeating European champions PSG 1-0 early Friday morning, building on their previous victory over Seattle Sounders. Many expected PSG to comfortably overcome Botafogo, but it was Igor Jesus who stole the spotlight, scoring the decisive goal while PSG managed to win 10 corners. This unexpected turn of events has left Botafogo in control of the group, against all predictions that had pegged the European powerhouses to dominate. With PSG and Atletico Madrid both eyeing top spots, a win for each in their concluding matches would see all three teams level on nine points. This scenario would push the group standings to be determined by head-to-head records and goal difference. Atletico's disastrous 4-0 defeat to PSG in their opening game might prove costly. Diego Simeone's squad now face the daunting task of needing a three-goal victory against Botafogo unless Seattle can pull off an upset against PSG. After finding their rhythm with a 3-1 triumph over Seattle on Thursday night, Atletico Madrid must now unleash an offensive barrage to keep their tournament hopes alive. Garnacho latest example of a Man Utd star rewarded too early and too handsomely
In the social media photograph that has wound up many a Manchester United fan, it is definitely a surprise to see Alejandro Garnacho wearing an Aston Villa jersey as leisure wear. Normally, it is strictly Louis Vuitton gear, the top-and-shorts number in another holiday snap retailing at a couple of grand. And in the shot which features Garnacho in a replica Rashford shirt that seems to have offended many, the United player is flanked by two cars. According to a couple of petrol-head mates, one appears to be a Ferrari Portofino and the other a Lamborghini Urus. Whatever the models, one thing is for sure, there's a good half a million pounds worth of motor there. Professional footballers enjoying and showing the conspicuous rewards of considerable wealth is hardly exceptional. It is commonplace. And no-one should be overly bothered - or bothered at all - by displays of material trappings. In fact, there seems to be some degree of fascination in what rich men and women do with their money. But, rightly or wrongly, the reason why the picture of Garnacho in a Villa-Rashford shirt with a pair of super-cars might jar is that it comes across as a portrait of a superstar who was anything other than a superstar last season. Garnacho was not United's worst player, far from it. And for what it is worth, Ruben Amorim's decision not to start him in the Europa League final was not a good one. But Garnacho scored six goals and made two assists in 36 appearances in the Premier League last season. He has eight goals in his last 51 Premier League appearances. There is, without any doubt, a very talented player in Garnacho, as was spectacularly demonstrated by THAT goal at Goodison Park. But that was in November, 2023, in the early months of a new five-year deal and if Garnacho was a United player rewarded too handsomely too quickly, that would not be unusual. Garnacho wearing a Villa shirt and then publishing the photograph seems a bit silly, more an error of judgement rather than a heinous crime. Don't forget, this is a player who, apparently, has been told to find another club. As cool as he looks, prospective suitors might not be overly impressed with Garnacho's social media picture gallery. There will be no public admonishment of Garnacho from United as that would probably be counter-productive. If they really do want to sell, they will want top dollar for a young player who still has buckets of potential. The last thing United will want to do is exacerbate any idea that Garnacho is a wrong 'un. And when minor incidents such as this cause brief consternation amongst United fans, the club probably knows that it is partly responsible. There was a time when the team culture was so strong at Old Trafford that personal grievances/disputes would very rarely get aired. Now they are emblazoned on the back of a rival team's jersey.
