Joe Biden's The View appearance shows left-wing media's desperate bid for ‘credibility'

Sky News AU09-05-2025
'Steve Bannon's War Room' co-host Natalie Winters reacts to former US president Joe Biden's appearance on The View, where he criticised Donald Trump's first 100 days in office.
'I think that's almost as brutal of a smackdown as the CNN clip that you played last week, although I think probably lies coming from both sides,' Ms Winters told Sky News host Rowan Dean.
'More importantly, it's not really even about Joe Biden, it's about the legacy media trying to sort of regain credibility in the eyes of the American people.
'Put Joe Biden on The View some more, I think that's great for Republicans leading into 2026.'

‘Insipid rabble lacking in purpose': Liberal Party identity ‘lost' after election defeat

Sky News host Sharri Markson says the Liberal Party has been reduced to an 'insipid rabble' lacking identity or purpose after losing the federal election. 'At a time when the Albanese government is leading Australia down a reckless path – economically, ideologically, and in terms of our place in the world, one can only despair that there's no viable alternative. 'The federal Liberal Party has been reduced to an insipid rabble lacking in identity or purpose. 'If an election were held today, Labor would win even more seats from an already dwindling Coalition. 'Their identity, it seems it was lost amid the embers of the devastating election defeat.'

‘Sickening moment': Debate rages over effectiveness of Trump-Putin meeting

The Australian's Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan discusses the result of the meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. 'This was really a sickening moment, I thought really perhaps the worst thing that Trump had ever done was impose tariffs on India … because India trades with Russia,' Mr Sheridan told Sky News host Andrew Bolt. 'This sadly is a reversion to the taco-Trump, Trump always chickens out … it shows the world can never get to any trade stability with Trump. 'What would a security guarantee from Trump in these circumstances be worth to Ukraine?.'

‘Progressive': Zohran Mamdani's use of ‘identity politics' analysed

Newsweek Senior Editor-at-Large Josh Hammer says Zohran Mamdani is not a 'Hamas-style Islamist,' but uses 'identity politics' to amass a following. 'Mamdani is not a … Hamas-style Islamist,' Mr Hammer told Sky News host Rita Panahi. 'Rather, what Mamdani does is he takes the identity politics aspect of his Islamic background and then takes it and then kind of transmogrifies it ... through the prism of progressive politics.'
