Irish president to meet Princess Royal at his official Dublin residence
The King's sister is expected to meet President Higgins and his wife, Sabina, on her second visit to the president's residence.
She will later attend the official opening day of the 150th Dublin Horse Show at the Royal Dublin Society (RDS).
During the visit Anne will tour a special exhibition on the history of the show and meet representatives from Festina Lente (a Bray-based charity offering equine-assisted learning and therapy services) and the Riding for the Disabled Association Ireland.
The princess, who competed in the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games in the equestrian three-day event, will also present rosettes to the winners in Class 20 of the Small Hunters competition.
British Ambassador to Ireland, Paul Johnston, said: 'The Princess Royal's visit underscores the deep and enduring friendship between the United Kingdom and Ireland, and the significance of the 150th holding of the RDS Dublin Horse Show.
'Her Royal Highness has visited Ireland on many occasions, including as patron of the Scottish Rugby Union for their biannual Six Nations games here.
'Her visit this week reflects her lifelong interest in equestrianism and charitable work.'
Queen Elizabeth II with then-Irish president Mary McAleese and the Duke of Edinburgh in Phoenix Park (PA)Anne previously visited the Aras in February 2004 during engagements where she was greeted by then-Irish president Mary McAleese.
The princess was accompanied on that private visit by the British ambassador to Ireland at the time, Stewart Eldon.
Members of the royal family have visited the president's residence on several occasions, including the historic trip by Queen Elizabeth II in May 2011.
She was the first monarch to visit the Republic, where she signed a guest book at the Aras and planted an English oak tree at the Peace Bell.
Her husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, made solo visits to Aras an Uachtarain in November 1998 and again in April 2006.
During their three-day visit to the Republic in 2020, the Prince and Princess of Wales – then titled the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge – had a tea party with Mr Higgins and his wife at the Aras and met one of the president's dogs, Brod.

Horse racing tips: ‘Nothing can beat him and he won this race last year' – Templegate's 3-1 NAP at Windsor
TEMPLEGATE'S horse racing tips for all the British meetings on Thursday are below. Back a horse by clicking their odds. NIGHT BREEZE (7.30 Windsor, nap) Shrewd and in-form trainer Ian Williams can strike with this son of New Approach, who carries a 5lb penalty thanks to his smooth win on Saturday's Shergar Cup card. He stayed well on quick ground at Ascot and he won this race 12 months ago so trip and track are ideal. HUSCAL (6.30 Windsor, nb) Had shocking luck at Doncaster last time and can make amends here. Charlie Hills' three-year-old had a full tank entering the final furlong on Town Moor but had to sit and suffer behind a wall of horses. When the gap came, he picked up well but the line came a few strides too soon. He'll be right there again. Is in flying form for Jim Goldie and this looks another solid chance. He's won four of his past six and was another who didn't get the best of runs at the Chepstow Racing League meeting. This race looks no tougher and he's a fair price. Why Dillian Whyte faces being stripped of his greatest weapon in Moses Itauma fight and how he can overcome it
Click to share on X/Twitter (Opens in new window) Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) CAPTAIN hook Dillian Whyte faces being stripped of his best punch against Moses Itauma - so he will have to come armed with a different weapon. Whyte takes on red-hot 20-year-old prospect Itauma in the sizzling Saudi heat on Saturday - live on DAZN PPV. 4 Dillian Whyte landing a trademark left hook on Joseph Parker Credit: Getty And astonishingly, it will be on the SECOND time Whyte has ever faced a southpaw opponent in his 34 professional fights so far. The last time he did was against journeyman Tomas Mrazek at the Camden Centre in Kings Cross - which has a capacity of around 1,000. Since then, Whyte has earned millions from boxing while challenging for the WBC world title in 2022, losing by knockout to Tyson Fury. The Body Snatcher - as he is affectionately known for his work to the midsection - has also developed one of the most dangerous left hooks in that time. READ MORE IN boxing Itauma vs Whyte All the details you need as British heavyweights clash in Saudi But the punch - especially as a counter while catching the opponent's shot on the gloves - is harder to land on a southpaw due to the angle of stances. Trainer Mark Tibbs - who had four years and 11 fights with Whyte before their split in 2020 - recognises his former boxer is at risk of being debilitated against leftie Itauma. Tibbs said on SunSport's No Glove Lost episode: 'Unless Moses is throwing a big hook, catch and whip, Dillian loves doing that, catching the shot and whipping the hook. 'But, he's got to get the right hand off as well, in my opinion.' 4 MOSES ITAUMA VS DILLIAN WHYTE: ALL THE DETAILS YOU NEED AHEAD OF HUGE HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT WATCH ITAUMA VS WHYTE LIVE ON DAZN CASINO SPECIAL - BEST CASINO BONUSES FROM £10 DEPOSITS Anthony Yarde - who lost in his two brave light-heavyweight titles challenges to Sergey Kovalev and Artur Beterbeiv - was in agreement. And he looked to fellow guest on the panel, Derek Chisora, as an example of how Whyte should approach the bout against Itauma. Yarde, 34, said: 'For him to be catching and countering Moses, it has to be fast. "For him to give Moses trouble or upset Moses, I personally think he's just got to be a veteran. 'Derek will now, you drag them down. Even (Chisora's) last fight against Otto (Wallin) I was thinking, is that Derek? Because he put it on him. 'Every time it was, bap, bap, bap, let him have it! Take that and see how you like it. It's calculated.' With Whyte's famous left hook potentially being nullified - Tibbs believes the right hand will need to be more deadly than ever before. He said: 'I'd like Dillian to try get his lead foot on the outside the best he can and get his right hand off because he's fighting the southpaw. 'But he will have to use that left hand as a bit of a shield and get in mid range as early as possible. 'They don't call him The Body Snatcher for nothing, so we're going to have to get round that body and try and unsettle and not let Moses be pretty. 'But Moses is fleet-footed, it's a difficult task but Dillian's got the experience, I'm sure he's got the desire and he's a fighting man. 'Unless Moses is throwing a big hook, catch and whip, Dillian loves doing that, catching the shot and whipping the hook. 'But, he's got to get the right hand off as well, in my opinion.' Tibbs - who never cornered Whyte against a southpaw - called on him to try and drag Itauma into a fight the youngster has never experienced before. The trainer said: 'He's got a difficult task but if I was Dillian, he's got to do his utmost to edge him back and put him on his heels. Not too many men can fight on their heels. 'But Moses, like Derek says, is a fresh, fresh lion. He's a sharp shooter, a great counter puncher, but it's a cracking match. 'Moses needs a Dillian Whyte right now to see where he's at. The fans need to see where he's at, we need to see where Moses is at. 'He's 12 fights in, it's not a great deal. It's a cracking match and what makes it a cracking match is Dillian's mentality - like I've said before - and equally Moses' mentality.' 4 Mark Tibbs formerly coached Whyte Credit: Getty

Blake wins sixth championship at Balerno
Anne Blake played in a Balerno Bowling Club rink skipped by Helen Girdler for several years. The duo have also played together in major triples matches in the Capital, winning back-to-back in 2016 and 2017, once with the late Ruth Vasey and then with Margaret Turner. What's more, the pair teamed up to win the on-off Juniper Green competition last season and Helen skipped the senior rink when they won the National title at Ayr, with Anne, Margaret and Mable Jackson. On this occasion, Helen, 11 times champion of Balerno Bowling Club, played Anne, a winner on five occasions, in the 2025 ladies championship final in overcast conditions at Balerno's Ladycroft green in the final which was postponed a week because of bad weather. Anne edged Helen 21-18 to take the title for the third year running, having emerged victorious in 2023 and 2024 to add to wins in 2010, 2018 and 2019. Covid-19 prevented Anne claiming a previous treble, as the championship was not staged in 2020, but she had to dig deep on this occasion, trailing 10-2 after the seventh end. Anne clawed her way back into the match and was only 13-11 behind after 14 ends, but Helen pulled away again to lead 18-12 after 18 ends. However, Anne surged, winning nine shots in the next five ends by lengthening the jack. He run started with a two at the 19th, a single at the next, and three at the 21st to level at 18-18. She then took the 22nd with a two to move to 20-18 and within touching distance of the title and a single at the next ended the contest. Helen's championship wins stretch back to 1999, the others were in 2000, 2003, 2004, 2008, 2009, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2021 and 2022, and she knew it would be difficult against Anne who only took up bowling in 2005. Her CV includes a win in the Steele Trophy, awarded to the Champion of Champions, in Edinburgh and she now represents the Balerno club in this year's competition.
