Conor McGregor publicly addresses fallout from Azealia Banks 'nudes' allegations for the first time amid Dee Devlin cheating scandal

Conor McGregor has publicly addressed the controversy over the alleged nude images of himself posted online and attempted to use the backlash to fuel his fledgling political career.
The former UFC champion has been at the centre of a public storm following the release of alleged nude photos of himself by rapper Azealia Banks, which she claimed the 37-year-old sent to her unprompted.
Banks, who is known for getting into high-profile feuds on social media, posted two shocking photos seemingly of McGregor posing in the mirror while completely naked, which she alleges he sent to her via direct message on X despite not following him.
As well as the alleged nude selfies, the screenshots also show a message from what appears to be McGregor's account reading: 'Don't be a rat cos all rats get caught'. Alongside one image which seemingly shows his manhood strapped to a dumbbell, the Irish fighter apparently wrote: 'Lifting weights'.
Banks' accusations came after McGregor was caught packing on the PDA with a mystery bikini-clad woman on a Florida beach over the weekend.
But according to McGregor, who directly addressed the images on Wednesday, the frenzied social media reaction to his genitalia and broader discussions over his conduct are simply a smokescreen, aimed at distracting from the issues affecting his native Ireland.
'Don't let them distract you with my G C while they rob our country blind,' McGregor wrote in X, replying to a post that called out the media for focussing on the former fighter's 'sizeable package' rather than 'the facts he is spraying'.
The maddening deflection tactic comes as McGregor makes an unlikely bid to become the next president of Ireland. The former fighter announced his intentions in March but later admitted in an interview with conservative American commentator Tucker Carlson that his plan to run for office is unlikely to get off the ground.
During the sit-down, McGregor said there are 'stipulations' for running for presidential office, such as needing to be backed by four county councils or receiving 20 nominations from members of the Oireachtas, Ireland's parliament.
And he warned that that Irish politicians will 'tarnish' his bid.
McGregor has received endorsements from misogynist influencer Andrew Tate and tech billionaire Elon Musk, and his anti-immigration stance has seen him welcomed with open arms by the US MAGA movement.
The 37-year-old is currently appealing the result of a civil case after a jury in Dublin found he had raped a woman, Nikita Hand, in 2018 and ordered him to pay damages.
In the midst of this legal controversy, he was invited to the White House by Trump for St Patrick's Day - a move that was met with condemnation from Irish politicians and many members of the public. Just days later, he announced his wish to be president.
This week, McGregor was captured smooching a mystery brunette in full view of fellow beachgoers in Fort Lauderdale over the weekend.

McGregor has been engaged to long-time partner Dee Devlin since August 2020, with the MMA star proposing while he celebrated his 32nd birthday in the south of France.
They have been together since 2008 and have four children in Conor Jr, 8, Croia Mairead, 6, Rian, 4, and Mack, 1.
In addition to appealing the verdict of the civil case which concluded he had raped a woman, McGregor is also facing a civil lawsuit for sexual battery in Florida following an alleged incident at a 2023 NBA Finals game in Miami, with a 49-year-old Miami-Dade County resident accusing him of sexually assaulting her in a bathroom.
He denied the allegations back in 2023, with his attorney Barbara Llanes insisting her client would 'not be intimidated', and he has faced no criminal charges for that either.

Trump gives Starmer the green light to recognise a Palestinian state

Donald Trump has given Keir Starmer the green light to go ahead and recognise the state of Palestine. It came as the prime minister met with the US president at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland for crucial talks on the Middle East crisis, trade and Ukraine. Speaking to journalists ahead of their meeting in Scotland, the US president took a very different tone to his secretary of state Marco Rubio who last Friday condemned French president Emmanuel Macron for going ahead in recognising Palestine. President Trump and Sir Keir appeared to be on the same page in wanting to end the hunger in the besieged territory, with the UK set to lead a new peace process with American support. On the political issue vexing Sir Keir Starmer over recognising Palestine as a state, Mr Trump said: 'I'm not going to take a position. I don't mind him [Sir Keir] taking a position. I'm looking to getting people fed right now. That's the number one position, because you have a lot of starving people.' He also made it very clear that he does not agree with Benjamin Netanyahu, after the Israeli PM claimed 'nobody is starving in Gaza'. He said: 'Based on television I would say [on agreeing with Netanyahu] 'not particularly', because those children look pretty hungry to me.' He also was not enthused about Israel's tactics saying that nobody was coming out of the crisis well. 'It's a real mess,' he added. But the US president warned that Hamas will not release its final 20 hostages and that was now the sticking point. The issue of recognising Palestine has moved up Sir Keir's agenda in the last week with the issue set to dominate a cabinet meeting this week with ministers deeply divided over what to do. But with a threat on his left flank from Jeremy Corbyn's new party and its support from so-called 'Gaza independents' and more than 250 MPs from nine political parties signing a letter calling for recognition, the prime minister is under pressure to act. Sir Keir made a point of thanking President Trump over his efforts in the Middle East. The prime minister appears to be putting together a plan for peace there following his talks over the weekend with Macron and German chancellor Friedrich Merz in the E3 group of leaders. The prime minister told journalists: 'It's an absolute catastrophe [in Gaza]. Nobody wants to see that. And I think people in Britain are revolted at seeing what they're seeing on their screen. So we've got to get to that ceasefire. Turning to Mr Trump, he added: 'Thank you, Mr President, for leading on that, and also to just get more and more aid in. And again, America has done a lot on this.' The two were also set to discuss the war in Ukraine, with President Trump again emphasising that he is losing patience with Russian president Vladimir Putin. He said: 'We thought we had that settled numerous times, and then President Putin goes out and starts launching rockets into some city like Kiev and kills a lot of people in a nursing home or whatever, you have bodies lying all over the street. And I say that's not the way to do it. So we'll see what happens with that. I'm very disappointed.'

Oil rises on US-EU trade deal, Trump's shorter deadline for Russia

LONDON, July 28 (Reuters) - Oil prices rose on Monday after a trade deal between the U.S. and the European Union and U.S. President Donald Trump's announcement that he would shorten the deadline set for Russia to end its war in Ukraine or face severe tariffs. Brent crude futures were up $1.63, or 2.4%, at $70.07 a barrel by 1317 GMT while U.S. West Texas Intermediate crude rose $1.62, or 2.5%, at $66.78. Brent was trading close to its highest price in nearly 10 days after Trump said he was reducing the 50-day deadline he gave Russia over its war in Ukraine to 10-12 days. The deal between the U.S. and EU and a possible extension of the U.S.-China tariff pause also are supporting global financial markets and oil prices, said Tony Sycamore, a market analyst at IG. The framework trade pact with the EU that was announced on Sunday sets a 15% U.S. import tariff on most EU goods. Trump also said it called for $750 billion of EU purchases of U.S. energy in the coming years. Senior U.S. and Chinese officials are meeting in Stockholm on Monday to try to extend their tariff truce before an August 12 deadline. The U.S.-EU deal removed another layer of uncertainty and the focus seems to be shifting back towards fundamentals, said Tamas Varga, an analyst at PVM, adding that a strong dollar and falling Indian oil imports have weighed on crude prices. On the supply side, an OPEC+ panel is unlikely to alter existing plans to raise oil output when it meets on Monday, four OPEC+ delegates told Reuters on July 25. ING expects OPEC+, the group that includes the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and allies like Russia, to at least complete the full return of 2.2 million barrels per day of additional voluntary supply cuts by the end of September.
