Time of India2 days ago
Bhopal: Devotees across Bhopal celebrated Shri Krishna Janmashtami with great enthusiasm on Saturday, marking the birth of Lord Krishna with vibrant festivities. Temples and other sacred places in the city echoed with the sounds of aartis and ringing bells, creating an atmosphere filled with devotion and joy.
Various locations throughout the city organized worship ceremonies, aartis, bhajan kirtans, and engaging matki phod competitions. The most grandiose celebration was held at the ISKCON temple in Patel Nagar, regarded as the state's largest Janmashtami event.
The largest celebration took place at the ISKCON temple in Patel Nagar, recognized as the state's biggest Janmashtami event. Other prominent venues like ISKCON Kolar, Karunadham Ashram, Maa Vaishno Dham Adarsh Nau Durga temple, and Birla Mandir also hosted special events.
At the ISKCON temple in Patel Nagar, devotees experienced a spiritually immersive festival adorned with elaborate decorations. The ISKCON Kolar temple dressed Lord Radha Govind in a special flower outfit made from blossoms sourced from Nashik, Pune, Mumbai, and Indore, while Karunadham Ashram received an eco-friendly floral dress from Nagpur.
Matki phod competitions delighted participants and spectators alike, with one matki suspended at 51 feet in Lalghati and another at 21 feet in Nehru Nagar.
Winners received cash prizes, adding excitement to the celebrations.
A representative from ISKCON Kolar said the festival began with mangal aarti at 4:30 am. Set in a vast field, the temple hosted a bhandaara all day, distributing around 300 quintals of fruit prasad from morning until the Lord's darshan.
The road to the temple was decorated with sparkling electrical lights for kilometers, and the premises were lavishly adorned with flowers.
Artistic Vedic paintings depicting Lord Krishna's life stories—such as Kaliya Mardan, Putana Vadh, Kansa Vadh, and Dwarka Leelas—were displayed, along with selfie zones for devotees.
At Maa Vaishno Dham Adarsh Nau Durga temple, celebrations included giving Bhopal's largest Laddu Gopal a sacred Panchamrit bath, placing him in a decorated cradle, offering bhog, singing bhajans, and performing Maha Aarti at midnight.
Birla Mandir remained open until 1 am, conducting the midnight ritual bath and dressing the Lord in special clothes from Gujarat.
Other temples, including Shri Krishna Temple in Barkheda and Shri Banke Bihari Temple in TT Nagar, marked the day with floral decorations and distribution of aarti and prasad, uniting the city in the joyous celebration of Janmashtami.

Janhvi Kapoor Hits Back At Trolls After Saying 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' At Janmashtami Event: " Roz Bolungi"

New Delhi: Janhvi Kapoor recently received flak from a section of the Internet after she joined the crowd in saying Bharat Mata Ki Jai at a Janmashtami event last week. What's Happening Janhvi Kapoor shared a clip of the video which became meme-material. In the video, she is seen joining the host in uttering the slogan Bharat Mata Ki Jai at first. Later, when she is asked to perform the Dahi handi ritual, she loudly utters the mantra one more time. "Just for context, full video lol. Unke bolne ke baad nahi bolti toh problem, aur bolo toh bhi video ko kaat ke meme material (laughing face emoji). (If I hadn't said the slogan after him, it would have been a problem, and now that I said it, then cut the video and make it meme material"), Janhvi wrote in the caption. She added, "Waise sirf Janmashtami ke din nahi roz bolungi Bharat Mata ki Jaiiiiii! (folded hands, Indian flag emojis). (By the way, not just on Janmashtami, I will say it every day, Bharat Mata ki Jai.)" Janhvi also gave a speech in Marathi, urging people to watch her film Param Sundari in theatres. Pavithra Menon Fiasco After the trailer dropped, Malayali singer-actor Pavithra Menon questioned Janhvi's casting in the film as Pavithra pointed out her heavy accent which didn't sound authentic. In a now-deleted Instagram post, Pavithra asked, "Wait, what? Before we go further into the trailer, I want to address this: 'What's the problem in hiring a proper Malayali actor?' Hum kam talented hote hain kya (Are we less talented)?" The actor switches to Hindi and added, "This is not how it happens in Kerala. Like how I am talking in Hindi, I can also speak Malayalam really well." Pavithra added in Malayali, "Is it so hard to find a Malayali to play the role in a Hindi movie." About Param Sundari The film deals with the cross-cultural romance between the two leads, one from Delhi and the other from Kerala. Apart from Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi, the film also stars Rajeev Khandelwal and Aakash Dahiya in pivotal roles. Directed by Tushar Jalota, it is set to release on August 29.
