West Indies' Andre Russell retiring from internationals after Australia T20s
The games are on Sunday and Tuesday.
Russell has played 84 T20s since 2011 and was a World Cup champion in 2012 and 2016. He's passed up a chance to play at a sixth T20 World Cup in eight months in India.
Cricket West Indies said the 37-year-old Russell 'remains a high-impact player and was selected on merit.'
'To represent the West Indies has been one of the proudest achievements in my life,' Russell said. 'When I was a kid, I did not expect to get to this level, but the more you start to play and get to love the sport, you realise what you can achieve. This inspired me to become better because I wanted to leave a mark in the maroon colours and become an inspiration to others.'
Daren Sammy was Russell's captain at both World Cup triumphs and has become his national coach.
'Andre has always been the consummate professional and a fierce competitor,' Sammy said. 'Whether I was captaining him or now coaching him, his hunger to perform and win for West Indies has never wavered. I wish him all the best on his next chapter, and I hope he continues to inspire generations to come.'
Russell began his international career at age 22 with his sole test in 2010 against Sri Lanka. He played his 56th and last one-day international at the 2019 World Cup. He was a controversial selection as he'd played only one ODI since 2015 following a doping ban and knee injury. But he became the fastest player, in terms of balls played, to 1,000 ODI runs.
Since then he's become a T20 great, sought by franchises all over the world. This month he was playing for Los Angeles in Major League Cricket.
Russell will be replaced by Matthew Forde for the three T20s in St. Kitts and Nevis against Australia.

Brewers tie Cubs for first place with 10th straight win, while slumping Dodgers lose Freddie Freeman to wrist contusion
The Milwaukee Brewers and Los Angeles Dodgers continued their opposite trajectories on Sunday. The Brewers picked up their 10th straight win with a 6-5 victory and tied the Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central. The Los Angeles Dodgers not only suffered their 10th loss in 12 games, they also saw star first baseman Freddie Freeman exit with a wrist contusion. With two sweeps of the Dodgers in the span of two weeks, the Brewers became the first team to sweep Los Angeles in a season series of at least four games since 2006, when the St. Louis Cardinals took all seven games, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. As recently as June 18, the Brewers were 6.5 games behind the Cubs. They now share the title of best record in MLB with Chicago and the Detroit Tigers, at 59-40. As recently as July 3, the Dodgers were up nine games in the NL West. They now sit just 3.5 games ahead of the second-place San Diego Padres, with a record of 58-42. The Dodgers got a small reprieve when they finished the first half with two wins over the San Francisco Giants, but have now come out of the All-Star break with a thud. The offense was listless on Friday. The defense couldn't get a shutdown inning when it needed on Saturday. Sunday began as a different story when a third-inning rally, capped off by a Shohei Ohtani homer, made it 3-0 Los Angeles. The Brewers tied the game an inning later via a defensive meltdown by the Dodgers, who committed three errors in the game. One of the players responsible for those errors, Esteury Ruiz, redeemed himself with a homer in the fifth inning, but the Brewers again came back an inning later and took the lead for good this time. It was after that when Freeman, the reigning World Series MVP took an 88 mph sinker to the wrist from Milwaukee Brewers starter Jose Quintana. The 35-year-old Freeman immediately started walking to the dugout, and the Dodgers sooner announced that he left with a left wrist contusion. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters after the game that Freeman's X-rays came back negative and he's day-to-day going forward. There had already been cause for concern with Freeman, as he has been quietly awful after a torrid start to the season. Since the start of June, he's hit .201/.274/.282 with only one homer and a 57 wRC+ that ranked as the ninth-worst among qualified players entering Sunday. The Dodgers nearly came back in the ninth inning, loading the bases and scoring a run off Brewers set-up man Abner Uribe, but Mookie Betts, another former MVP who has struggled lately, lined out to end the game. Very little is going right for the Dodgers these days. Their next chance to turn things around will be a home series against the Minnesota Twins. Meanwhile, the Brewers will try to continue their streak in a road series against the Seattle Mariners beginning Monday.

Ryan Gerard wins the Barracuda Championship for his first PGA Tour title
Associated Press TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) — Ryan Gerard had two seven-point, birdie-eagle bursts and overcame five bogeys to win the Barracuda Championship on Sunday for his first PGA Tour victory. In breezy conditions at Tahoe Mountain Club in the only PGA Tour event that uses the modified Stableford scoring system, Gerard followed a two-point birdie with a five-point eagle on Nos. 2-3 and 10-11. The 25-year-old former North Carolina player had a 13-point round to finish with 47 points for a three-point victory over 2021 winner Erik van Rooyen of South Africa. Gerard fell short of van Rooyen's tournament record of 50 points. Fifth in the event two years ago, Gerard won in his 47th PGA Tour start to become the 999th winner in tour history. Played opposite the British Open, the tournament was co-sanctioned by the European tour. With the victory, Gerard received a spot in the PGA Championship next year but not the Masters. Van Rooyen had an eight-point day. He made a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 15th and a 30-footer for birdie on the par-4 18th. Todd Clements of England was third with 39 points after a 16-point round. Beau Hossler scored 17 points Sunday to tie for fourth at 37 with Max McGreevy (16) and Jacques Kruyswijk (10). Tied for the third-round lead with Rico Hoey, Gerard made a 20-foot eagle putt on the par-5 third and holed a 35-footer from the fringe on the par-5 11th. On the 11th, he hit his approach into the rough, but was allowed to take relief and move his ball to the fringe because of a sprinkler head. Gerard followed both seven-point runs with consecutive bogeys — with a point deducted for bogey — and missed a 3-footer on 16 for a three-putt bogey. The winner made a 5-foot birdie putt on 14 to get back the points he lost with the bogeys on the previous two holes. He also quickly canceled out the consecutive front-nine bogeys with a birdie on No. 7. Gerard played for the sixth straight week — a string that began with the U.S. Open and took him to Scotland last week. He was ninth and second in consecutive events in Texas in April.
