Tigers' Dillon Dingler, Zach McKinstry pull off ridiculous lucky grab in blowout win over White Sox

Dillon Dingler and Zach McKinstry teamed up for what could easily be the luckiest grab of the MLB season on Monday night.
The Detroit Tigers teammates, in the fifth inning of their matchup with the Chicago White Sox, ran to try and catch a foul ball popped up by Joshua Palacios that was headed toward the dugout.

But as Dingler slid to try and make the grab, he just barely mistimed the catch. The ball bounced off his glove and back toward an unsuspecting McKinstry, who somehow managed to make the catch and complete the out. McKinstry could only stand there and laugh once he realized what he had done.
Hey, whatever works.
The play was just part of what ended up being a blowout win for the best team in Major League Baseball on Monday. The Tigers cruised to the 13-1 win over the White Sox, thanks in part to a huge showing from Kerry Carpenter.
Carpenter hit three home runs in the contest, which made him the first Tigers player to hit three in a single game since 2016. He hit a solo shot in the first inning at Rate Field, and then followed it up with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. That second dinger put the Tigers up 8-0 at the time.

Then two innings later, Carpenter hit a third homer to center for good measure. White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr. nearly robbed that one, but he couldn't quite climb up the outfield wall enough to reach the ball as it crossed over.
The White Sox fell to 18-42 with the loss, which marked their seventh in their last eight games. The Tigers now sit at 40-21 on the year. They've lost just once in their last eight outings.
While it's still early June, the Tigers are making an incredible early push in the American League. If Carpenter keeps it up, and they manage to keep pulling in ridiculous catches like they did on Monday night, there's no telling where the Tigers will end up in a few months.

They would receive prospects in return, and Padres' GM A.J. Preller has not shied away from making blockbuster moves. Over the last few seasons, he has done everything he can to turn the Padres into a winning ball club. A lot of moves have been questionable, but adding a star in this league to the roster has a chance to be one of his better moves.

The San Diego Padres rallied late to defeat the San Francisco Giants 3–2 in another extra-inning thriller, with momentum shifting in the ninth and tenth innings. In the previous game, San Diego secured a 1–0 victory, also in extra innings. With both wins, the Padres pulled off an extremely rare Major League Baseball feat not seen since the 2001 World Series. They became the first team since the Arizona Diamondbacks to win back-to-back road games despite being shut out through the first eight innings of both contests. San Francisco jumped ahead in the third inning. Patrick Bailey opened with a double, and after a strikeout, Heliot Ramos crushed a 421-foot two-run homer to center. The Giants nearly added to their lead when Wilmer Flores singled and Matt Chapman doubled. But a perfect relay from Fernando Tatis Jr. to Jake Cronenworth to Luis Campusano cut down Flores at the plate. Advertisement Giants starter Landen Roupp was outstanding. He pitched 6⅓ scoreless innings, allowing just four hits and two walks while striking out five. Roupp threw 92 pitches, 63 for strikes, and maintained excellent control.
