JaNa Craig Says Kenny Rodriguez Gave Her 'Serial Killer Vibes'

JaNa Craig Says Kenny Rodriguez Gave Her 'Serial Killer Vibes'

Cosmopolitan2 days ago
As any self-respecting Love Island USA fan can tell you, season 6 couple JaNa Craig and Kenny Rodriguez are no more. But as their breakup continues to play out in the press, the last few months of their relationship are being broadcast on Peacock's Love Island: Beyond the Villa. In the most recent episode, JaNa says that Kenny gave her 'serial killer vibes' on their anniversary date, which with hindsight was probably a sign that these two weren't meant to last.
JaNa and Kenny's super awkward anniversary date aired in episode 5 and reportedly took place in May, just a few months before their breakup in July. Looking back now, it seems obvious that Kenny doesn't want to be there. He's aloof, evasive, and shuts down when she confronts him about telling Miguel Harichi that she also didn't want to move in together— even though, she said, she wanted to 'be smothered in your space.'
What followed was the most awkward silence I've ever seen on a reality show. Kenny stared off into the distance and then tried to recover, saying, 'I voiced to him, I wanted separation—from you.' Because, I guess, that's better somehow?
In this week's episode, JaNa confided in Leah Kateb and Serena Page about the date, saying that Kenny just shut down. 'He just gave me straight eye contact, like he just locked in. It looked like he was giving me serial killer vibes,' she said. 'When he shuts down, he just like, was locked in on me.'
Kenny apologized the day after their date for 'being silent,' but for fans watching at home, this is just the latest in a string of bright red flags Kenny's been dropping all season—like how hesitant he was about fostering a dog or his seeming inability to communicate clearly with JaNa.
Kenny is currently enemy number 1 among Islanders, but here's hoping he'll take some constructive criticism and really learn how to listen and communicate. Because the 'serial killer vibes' aren't going to cut it much longer.

‘Nicolandria' aren't just a cultural phenomenon, they're a beloved part of reality couple history

'Love Island USA' has become an obsession for viewers, with one couple in particular capturing hearts. It's been quite the summer for Olandria Carthen, 27, and Nic Vansteenberghe, 24, a couple who met on the show and have been dubbed 'Nicolandria.' Not only are they objectively (and ridiculously) attractive, the pair have sparked cultural conversations about interracial relationships and the supportive partnership they model. If you are one of the few still unfamiliar with 'Love Island USA,' the series is the American offshoot of a popular United Kingdom reality dating show in which a group of men and women live together in a villa with the hopes of finding love and winning a cash prize. As expected, there is also plenty of drama. 'Nicolandria' were the breakout stars this past season, sparking headlines, and fan accounts. Their fame comes at a divisive time, especially with regard to issues of race in the United States, and their obvious affection has provided summer joy and distraction to 'Love Island's' audience. Their popularity has meant immense recognition, along with endorsement deals. Last week, NYX Professional Makeup teased a collaboration with the couple after Vansteenberghe revealed in an interview that he keeps Carthen's lip combo featuring the brand's gloss in his pocket. Vansteenberghe, who had been modeling Australian swimsuit brand Kulani Kinis since 2021, has his own collection on their site now and features Carthen in the campaigns. Carthen said she isn't just representing 'Love Island' in these campaigns – she's also representing Black women. 'Before we came into this world, Black women already had a label. They're so quick to label us as angry Black women,' Carthen said, describing how she had to put on a 'strong suit' while in the villa during Andy Cohen's recent 'After Show' on 'Watch What Happens: Live.' But in her relationship with Vansteenberghe, she said she was able to let him take the wheel, where he helped set up two photoshoots for her to model in Europe. 'The support that I have from this guy is unreal. So, it allows me to be the soft woman that I've always wanted to be,' Carthen described. It's not the first time that a pair who met via reality television have captivated the zeitgeist. Here are a a few other couples: Pam Ling and Judd Winick from 'The Real World: San Francisco' Consider them the O.G.'s of this list. Pam Ling, who is now a doctor, and Judd Winick, a cartoonist, connected in 1994, when they were both cast members on MTV's 'The Real World: San Francisco,' which was the third installment of the then-nascent reality TV show. While they didn't start dating until after they finished filming, fans were thrilled to learn at the season's reunion show in 1995 that they were a couple. They married in 2001 and are the parents of two children. In February 2025, Winick posted in celebration of the 31st anniversary of meeting Ling on the first day of 'The Real World' filming. 'It was my 24th birthday. And it is exactly 31 years ago today that we started filming THE REAL WORLD SAN FRANCISCO. My life would change forever in so many ways,' he wrote on social media. 'But the most important by far is that I met Pam Ling. She is my partner. My hero. And the smartest and bravest and most beautiful and best person I know.' Trista Rehn and Ryan Sutter from 'The Bachelorette' Heartbreak led to love for the former Rehn. The physical therapist was a contestant on Season 1 of 'The Bachelor' in 2002, and became the first ever lead of 'The Bachelorette' the following year. As the reality fairytale goes, former professional football player and firefighter Ryan Sutter won her heart. ABC threw the couple a big wedding in 2003 that millions tuned into. The parents of a son and daughter now live in Colorado. Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi and Jionni LaValle from 'Jersey Shore' Gym, tan, laundry and love. In the midst of all the partying as a cast member of Season 3 of the hit MTV series 'The Jersey Shore,' Polizzi met entrepreneur LaValle during filming in 2011. They married in 2014 and are now the parents of three. Rob Mariano and Amber Brkich from 'Survivor: All Stars' The now-Amber Mariano not only won 'Survivor: All Stars,' she also got a husband out of it. She met Rob, a.k.a. 'Boston Rob' Mariano, during filming in 2003 in Panama. They got engaged during the show's live finale in 2004 and married the following year. The couple are now the parents of four daughters. Lauren Speed and Cameron Hamilton from 'Love Is Blind' The first season of Netflix's 'Love Is Blind' had one of the most joyous meetings ever. The premise of the reality dating series revolves around contestants talking with – and ideally falling for – each other sight unseen in the hopes of getting married. (It's worked for some, like this pair.) The moment data scientist Hamilton sprinted towards content creator and entrepreneur Speed, it was literally all love. They married on the show in 2018, and are currently expecting their first child. JoJo Siwa and Chris Hughes from 'Celebrity Big Brother UK' This one was a shocker for Siwa's fans. The now 22-year-old former child star, singer and dancer was in a relationship with Australian actor Kath Ebbs when she joined the UK reality show earlier this year Siwa is now dating Hughes, with whom she bonded in the 'Big Brother' house. To bring it all full circle, he is a former cast member of – wait for it – the UK version of 'Love Island.' CNN's Ramishah Maruf contributed to this report. Solve the daily Crossword

'Love Island USA''s Amaya Has Date Night with Bryan and His Family at Boston Red Sox Game amid Relationship Speculation

The couple spent the night with Bryan's family at Fenway ParkNEED TO KNOW Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales both threw out the first pitch and had a splashy date night at Fenway Park on Monday, Aug. 4 The Love Island USA season 7 winners, along with Bryan's family, attended the game and posed on the field at Bryan's hometown stadium The outing came following speculation that the couple had split after leaving the villaAmaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales are still going strong. The Love Island USA season 7 winners had a splashy date night in Bryan's hometown of Boston on Monday, Aug. 4, as they both threw out the ceremonial first pitch at the Boston Red Sox game at Fenway Park. The MLB team shared a carousel of sweet photos of the couple from the night, where both Amaya, 25, and Bryan, 28, were smiling from ear to ear and posed with some Red Sox players, including Garrett Crochet and Justin Slaten, before they both threw out a pitch. In one sweet shot from the pitcher's mound, the couple, who were announced as the winners of this summer's season of the Peacock hit series on July 13, shared a kiss. Amaya also posted from earlier in the day with Bryan. Before the Red Sox game, she shared a solo shot of him holding up his drink as she added red hearts around his face and called him "my crush." Bryan's family was also in attendance at the game and spent some quality time with Amaya — including his mom, who didn't meet her in the villa. In a video posted on his Snapchat, Bryan shared footage of himself, Amaya and his family on the field ahead of the Red Sox game against the Kansas City Royals. His dad, who visited him in Fiji ahead of the July 13 finale, was in attendance at the game, as was his mom, who didn't travel to the villa but sent a video message of love, along with several other friends. In the clip, Amaya and Bryan's mom were posing together for a selfie. "We got moms and Amaya over there," Bryan said as he zoomed in on them, and his mom was all smiles. He later posted from the suite where they watched the game and again showed off that his mom and Amaya were spending time together. The family outing comes following fan speculation that the pair had broken up. In the weeks following their exit from the Fiji villa and return to the U.S., rumors ran rampant that the couple were no longer together. Speculation was particularly concentrated on a rumor that Bryan had been unfaithful to Amaya, which gained traction on social media, and while neither Bryan nor Amaya weighed in on it, Bryan's dad made sure to quell the rumors. "Please stop the lies and rumors!!!! That's absolutely not true," he wrote in a comment on a fan page's post speculation about a split that he signed "Bryan's dad," per a post on X. In a second comment, he doubled down, writing that they're still "together and spending time with family and friends." In an Aug. 1 post on Instagram, Bryan shared a clip of himself on FaceTime with Amaya, which also quelled the rumors. "Thank you for the confirmation we all needed," one fan wrote on the post, referring to the breakup rumors. "Breakup allegations over," another wrote. After leaving the villa, the couple said that spending time with each other's families was high on their list of priorities. In a joint interview, Amaya told PEOPLE they were "taking it step by step" after getting back to the U.S., and Bryan said they were going to continue to "prioritize each other" and "keep taking the necessary steps, because we took all the right steps in the villa. Let's keep taking them on the outside world." "I know he definitely needs to visit his family and so do I," Amaya said. "But we're talking about meeting each other's families soon, so after that, we'll plan his New York City trips." She also said that they were "not nervous at all" to start their relationship outside the villa. "I feel like we both feel confident in what we have and we have an open dialogue, healthy communication, so we'll definitely just be communicating to each other throughout this whole journey."
