
Toni's in Wishaw marks pineapple day with free fritters
Toni's Fish & Chips will offer 500 free pineapple fritters to in-store customers on Friday, June 27, in partnership with Dole Packaged Foods Europe to mark International Pineapple Day.
Tao Baidoun, brand manager at Dole Packaged Foods, said: "With our recent research revealing that Brits are willing to try out more sweet and savoury combos, what better way to blend the two together than adding a sweet Hawaiian side to a classic savoury UK takeaway, and what better time to do so than International Pineapple Day.

The first 500 customers who visit the shop from 11am will receive a free pineapple fritter with their order.

The giveaway is inspired by Dole's recent research, which found that 13 per cent of Scots would try pineapple alongside their fish and chips.
The figure rises to 18 per cent among men.
Toni's Fish & Chips has gained popularity on TikTok for its creative menu items, attracting more than 23,000 followers and 206,000 likes.
Fritters are already a popular side in fish and chip shops, with potato and mushy pea versions commonly featured.
North Lanarkshire residents keen to try the fruity fritter can visit Toni's Fish & Chips at 40 Kirk Road, Wishaw.

Staff said they were forced to face the "reality of the economic climate" and came to the conclusion that it was no longer possible to continue trading. On social media, cafe bosses wrote: "This Saturday, 28 June, our Santosa Café will close. "A nine-year wondrous journey comes to an end, as we face the reality of the economic climate. "Sadly, it's not possible to continue trading. "We've had nine years of adventures, building communities, creating bridges, overcoming the most challenging of times, and always supporting Leith's amazing community groups. "We've loved every minute being part of the Leith community, breaking new ground in our approach, attitudes, ethos and spirit that has driven our work. They urged customers to pay a final visit on Saturday to celebrate the cafe and its staff. They added: "This Saturday, please celebrate everything that Santosa has been for you and us. Scottish Cafe Closes Its Doors After Five Years "The Santosa Sanctuary, our therapists and teachers, will continue throughout July to do their very special thing, so please book in for your treatments and classes." Santosa Wellness Centre is also a studio, therapy centre and shop. The cafe operated on a "Slow Food" concept, preparing dishes to order and cooking them in-house. Dozens of punters flocked to share their disappointment when the cafe announced the sad news. One wrote: "Such sad news. As a newcomer to Edinburgh, this is where I felt welcomed by people from near and far. I wish you the best of luck for your future endeavours." Another added: "Terrible news! So sorry".
