Mathura Preps For Janmashtami: Vehicle Entry Banned, Over 5,000 Personnel Deployed
Uttar Pradesh's temple towns of Mathura and Vrindavan transformed into a virtual fortress, with thousands of police personnel deployed across the cities as lakhs of devotees poured to celebrate Shri Krishna Janmashtami. The authorities stepped up vigilance to ensure smooth and safe celebrations in the entire braj area.
To maintain law and order, district authorities divided the city in four zones and 18 sectors, deploying more than 5,000 police officers and personnel, news agency PTI reported. More than 300 CCTV cameras have been installed in and around the famous temples. Additional security arrangements have been made at the ShriKrishna Janmabhoomi, Dwarkadheesh Temple and Banke Bihari Temple.
Entry of all heavy vehicles into Mathura has been banned, and vehicle movement on routes leading to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple has been significantly restricted due to heavy crowds, officials said.
Social media activity is under strict watch, and the inner area of the Janmasthan temple has been designated a red zone with extra police presence. The yellow and green zones around it are manned by plain-clothed personnel, including women officers. Barricades have been set up at multiple points, where police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) teams are screening visitors to prevent the entry of unwanted elements, they said.
Entry to the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple is now through the northern gate (Govind Nagar side), while the main gate is being used for exit. Mobile phones, key rings, wristwatches, and any electronic devices are strictly prohibited inside. Devotees have been advised not to carry items like shoes, bags, matches, lighters or umbrellas to the temple, and to leave them safely at their accommodation to avoid difficulties during the exit, which will be from a different point.
To assist pilgrims, police have launched a website brajdham.co.in to provide information on temples, routes, restrictions and other guidelines. Railways have extended services and added temporary halts to accommodate the influx of devotees arriving from Delhi, Bhopal and other cities. Several trains will run to Mathura until August 18. Additional temporary halts have been provided at Bhuteshwar station for multiple long-distance trains, including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus-Amritsar, Korba-Amritsar, Puri-Yoganagari Rishikesh and Agra Cantt-New Delhi. The Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation has also increased buses frequency between Mathura and Agra to meet the surge in passenger demand.

Janmashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami or Gokulashtami, is a Hindu festival that marks the birth of Lord Krishna, the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Celebrated with great enthusiasm across India and by Hindus worldwide, Janmashtami usually falls in August, on the eighth day (Ashtami) of the Krishna Paksha (dark fortnight) in the month of Bhadrapada. This year marks the 5252nd birth anniversary of Lord Krishna.
The Krishna Mahotsav 2025 began on Friday morning with a grand procession from the Shri Krishna Janmasthan temple, featuring 300-400 folk artistes performing along the route. The procession started from the main gate, passed through Deeg Gate, Roopam Cinema Tiraha, Govind Nagar police station, Mahavidya Colony, and Potra Kund, before returning to the main gate.
All important temples in Mathura have been decorated with colourful lights and flowers. The temples of Vrindavan and the ghats of Yamuna river are also being decorated, the official said.

Delhi man rapes his mother after accusing her of having bad character
New Delhi, Aug 16 (PTI) A 39-year-old man allegedly raped his mother in central Delhi's Hauz Qazi area after she returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia, police said on Saturday. According to officials, the complainant, accompanied by her 25-year-old daughter, approached the Hauz Qazi police station and alleged that her son, identified as Md Firoz alias Suhel, had assaulted and sexually abused her on multiple occasions this month. 'The woman stated that she had travelled to Saudi Arabia on July 25 with her husband, aged 72, and their daughter for pilgrimage. During the trip, her son allegedly called on her husband's phone and accused her of having a 'bad character', demanding that his father return immediately to Delhi and divorce her," a senior police officer said. On August 1, after the family returned home, the accused allegedly assaulted his mother and attempted to attack her again the next day. Fearing for her safety, she went to stay at her elder daughter's in-laws' house for some time, the complainant told police. 'She further alleged that on August 11, when she returned home around 9.30 pm, her son insisted on speaking to her privately. He then locked her in a room, threatened her with a knife and scissors, and allegedly raped her," the officer added. Out of fear and shame, she did not disclose the incident immediately and began sleeping in the same room as her daughter, police said. However, around 3.30 am on August 14, the accused allegedly repeated the act, following which the woman gathered courage and approached police. A case has been registered under relevant section of the BNS and investigation has been taken up, the officer said. The accused is a graduate but currently unemployed, while the complainant is an illiterate housewife whose husband is a retired government employee. 3 posing as auditors enter co office, flee with Rs 9L gold in Gurgaon
Gurgaon: Three men carried out a gunpoint robbery at the Manappuram Gold Loan finance company on Sheetla Mata Road in Sector 5 around 6pm on Saturday, seizing cash and gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 9 lakh. Police said the accused entered the company premises posing as auditors, showing fake identity cards to the security guard. ASI Sandeep Kumar said, "Initially posing as auditors, the accused entered the company premises, but when the staff grew suspicious and confronted them, the accused threatened the employees at gunpoint and attacked two, including assistant manager Krishna, who suffered a head injury. They then fled with cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 9 lakh. However, the stolen items were insured. A case has been registered at Sector 5 police station, and the investigation is on. Odisha: Direct flight between Bhubaneswar, Jharsuguda launched

The service, operated by Star Air, has been launched under the state's B-MAAN (Building and Management of Aviation Assets and Network) scheme. 'This milestone will not only bring western Odisha closer to the state capital but also give a substantial boost to industrial growth, tourism, and cultural exchange. The launch of this route is expected to enhance regional air connectivity, bridge distances within the state, and create inclusive and accessible aviation infrastructure for all sections of society," Majhi said.
