Photo: AFP/File The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the schedule and venues for New Zealand's white-ball tour of India, set to take place in January 2026. The tour will feature three ODIs followed by five T20Is, marking the first bilateral series between the two sides since India's win over New Zealand in the Champions Trophy final earlier this year. Vadodara will mark its return to the men's international cricketing map after more than 15 years, with the city set to host the opening ODI on January 11 at the newly built Kotambi Stadium. The venue previously hosted three Women's ODIs between India and West Indies in December 2024 and six matches during the 2025 Women's Premier League (WPL). Interestingly, New Zealand also featured in Vadodara's last men's international match - an ODI at Reliance Stadium in December 2010. In that game, current India head coach Gautam Gambhir was named Player of the Match for his century, while Virat Kohli, who has since retired from T20Is and Tests but continues to play ODIs, scored an unbeaten 63. Following the series opener in Vadodara, the teams will remain in Gujarat for the second ODI in Rajkot on January 14, before the series concludes with the third ODI in Indore on January 18. The tour will then transition to the T20I leg, starting with matches in Nagpur (January 21) and Raipur (January 23). The final leg of the tour will take place in eastern and southern India, with Guwahati (January 25), Visakhapatnam (January 28), and Thiruvananthapuram (January 31) hosting the third, fourth and fifth T20Is respectively. These five T20Is are likely to be India's final preparation before they begin their campaign at the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2026, which they are co-hosting with Sri Lanka. The Men in Blue will enter the tournament as defending champions, having won the 2024 edition in the West Indies and the USA. New Zealand, on the other hand, are scheduled to play a three-match T20I series against Afghanistan immediately after their India tour concludes. Marsh returns to lead Australia against West Indies
Mitchell Marsh showed promising form with the bat in the IPL, where he amassed 627 runs in 13 innings. Photo: AFP/file Cricket Australia (CA) on Wednesday announced a 16-member squad for the upcoming five-match T20I series against the West Indies, set to begin next month. Uncapped players Mitchell Owen and Matt Kuhnemann have received their first international call-ups. Notably, promising young batter Jake Fraser-McGurk has been left out of the squad. Despite featuring in seven of Australia's last eight T20Is, Fraser-McGurk has managed just one half-century and failed to cross 20 runs in each of his other six innings. Xavier Bartlett and Marcus Stoinis have also been omitted. Mitchell Owen earned his spot after a stellar Big Bash League (BBL) season, where he finished as the tournament's leading run-scorer with 452 runs in 11 matches at an average of 45.20 and a remarkable strike-rate of 203.6. His explosive 108 off 42 balls in the final led the Hobart Hurricanes to the title and earned him the Player of the Match award. Mitchell Marsh will captain the side following a prolific IPL season, where he amassed 627 runs in 13 innings for the Lucknow Super Giants, including his maiden century in the tournament. Veteran all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who recently retired from ODI cricket, retains his place in the T20 squad. Tim David also returns after missing the latter part of the IPL season with champions Royal Challengers Bangalore. Cameron Green and Cooper Connolly make their comebacks following brief injury layoffs, while Josh Hazlewood is back after being rested for the recent T20I series against Pakistan. Australia have opted to rest key players Pat Cummins, Travis Head, and Mitchell Starc for the T20Is, with the series beginning in Jamaica on July 19immediately after the conclusion of the three-match Test series. Chair of Selectors George Bailey emphasised the importance of squad depth and experimentation ahead of the T20 World Cup. "We have a busy T20 schedule coming up through this series, followed by three against South Africa and New Zealand and five matches against India at home as we continue to refine and build a squad we think will be the right fit for the World Cup on the subcontinent," Chair of Selectors George Bailey said. "There are a number of players outside the squad who can still force their way into the mix for those upcoming Indian Series and through the Big Bash. "The connection, role development and combinations we will have as options are growing nicely as we build towards the World Cup. It's an exciting time in our T20 space," he added. Australia T20I squad: Mitchell Marsh (C), Sean Abbott, Cooper Connolly, Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Spencer Johnson, Matt Kuhnemann, Glenn Maxwell, Mitch Owen, Matthew Short, Adam Zampa.

Haris breaks Babar's T20I record Pakistan's wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Haris showcased an explosive batting display on Sunday, leading his team to a convincing 3-0 series sweep over Bangladesh with a thrilling victory in the final match at Gaddafi Stadium. Haris played a match-winning unbeaten innings of 107 runs off just 46 balls, featuring eight boundaries and seven sixes, at an extraordinary strike rate of 232.60. His stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match award. The fastest century for Pakistan remains Hasan Nawaz's 44-ball hundred, scored during the T20I series against New Zealand in March. In the third T20I, Pakistan faced a challenging target of 197 runs. The innings started nervously as opener Sahibzada Farhan was dismissed early, scoring only one run off four balls to Mehidy Hasan Miraz's bowling. However, Mohammad Haris and Saim Ayub quickly steadied the innings with a commanding partnership. The duo put together 56 runs for the loss of just one wicket in the first six overs, maintaining a strong scoring rate. Haris and Saim forged a 92-run partnership for the second wicket, showcasing aggressive and fluent stroke play to keep Pakistan in control. The partnership ended when Tanzim Hasan trapped Saim for 45 runs off 29 deliveries, leaving Pakistan at 100-2 after 9.5 overs. Despite the loss, Mohammad Haris continued to anchor the innings, reaching his half-century at 115-2 after 11 overs. Hasan Nawaz contributed quick runs with two boundaries before being dismissed for 26 off 13 balls by Mehidy Hasan, reducing Pakistan to 137-3 at 12.5 overs. Undeterred, Haris maintained his dominance over the Bangladeshi bowling attack, striking boundaries and sixes with ease. He brought up his century in just 45 balls, displaying sublime batting throughout the innings. Haris remained unbeaten on 107 off 46 deliveries, including eight fours and seven sixes, while captain Agha chipped in with a quick 14 off 11 balls as Pakistan comfortably chased down the target in 17.1 overs.
