Kamran Ghulam leads Abbottabad to victory over Lahore and National T20 cup semis
A collective bowling effort, followed by Kamran Ghulam's unbeaten half-century, powered Abbottabad Region into the National T20 Cup semi-finals with a six-wicket win over Lahore Whites at Iqbal Stadium on Sunday. Opting to bowl first, Abbottabad captain Yasir Shah saw his bowlers limit Lahore Whites to 130/5 in 20 overs, despite Muhammad Akhlaq's fighting knock. Sahibzada Farhan scores third highest T20 score ever in National T20 Cup
Sahibzada Farhan set a new record in the National T20 Cup with a blistering 162 not out off 72 balls, surpassing Kamran Akmal's long-standing highest individual score in the tournament. His unbeaten knock powered Peshawar to a commanding 239 in 20 overs against Quetta at Multan Cricket Stadium on Friday. Wahab Riaz withdraws from National T20 Cup after criticism, reveals Salman Butt
Former Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz was set to make a return to domestic cricket, representing Lahore Whites in the upcoming National T20 Cup. However, Riaz has since withdrawn from the squad after severe criticism received by fans regarding his inclusion. Fans raised concerns about opportunities for younger players. Salman Butt, former Pakistani opener, revealed the news on a television show. The decision comes amid Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) commitment to unearthing fresh talent. The 39-year-old, who last played for Pakistan in 2020, initially earned his spot after an impressive trial performance at the Lahore Region Cricket Association match at Aligarh Ground. Representing Lahore Greens, Wahab picked up one wicket for 25 runs in three overs, dismissing young batter Rana Arsalan. With the bat, he struck a quickfire 31 runs, including three sixes. His selection had reignited debate over former players occupying domestic cricket slots, potentially limiting emerging talent.
