3 arrested for promoting illegal car meets in Philadelphia, police say
The three arrested, all men, are accused of participating in and promoting the car meets, dating back as far as Feb. 14, 2025 – the day of the Eagles' Super Bowl parade.
Among those arrested is 19-year-old Laurel, Maryland, resident Yariel Fuentes-Reyes, who police previously alleged was responsible for an illegal car rally on Feb. 14.
A Maryland State Police task force working with Philadelphia police arrested Fuentes-Reyes on July 3, 2025, in his hometown in connection with the February car rally. In Tuesday's announcements, police also alleged Fuentes-Reyes was involved in car meets on April 19 and June 15.
About two weeks after Fuentes-Reyes' arrest, on July 16, police arrested 21-year-old Serge Youayou of New Castle, Delaware, on the 400 block of North Broad Street. Police say he was involved in car meets that took place on Feb. 14, May 30 and June 15.
Then on July 23, police arrested 21-year-old Henry Ramos on the 1300 block of Magee Avenue, in the Oxford Circle section of Northeast Philadelphia.
Ramos was involved in car meets on May 31, June 15 and July 4, according to police.
All three men are charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, causing or risking catastrophe, rioting and other offenses.
In May, Philadelphia police announced they formed an investigative group to track down the promoters and drivers involved with car meets in the city. Investigators use social media to find events that are advertised and the vehicles that took part in the events.
At that time, police said they had made progress on arrests from the major "Project X" meetup in September 2024, bringing in more than 50 vehicles and placing 27 people in custody for that car meet.
More details about the car meets Youayou, Fuentes-Reyes and Ramos were accused of organizing, were not immediately available, and none were accused of involvement in Project X.

Some southeast Louisiana intersections are changing in an attempt by officials to discourage panhandling. But critics worry about the broader message being sent. The benches in Jackson Square have long had bars in the middle too, which are meant to prevent people from sleeping on them. Zoom out: Major cities like Dublin, Paris and San Francisco have tried versions of hostile architecture, according to reports, with most geared at preventing people from sleeping on the streets. Supporters of the architecture say it's the only way to keep sidewalks open and clean, writes Axios' Shawna Chen, while opponents argue it disproportionately affects vulnerable populations. State of play: New Orleans has been working for years on the hard-to-solve homelessness crisis. The effort got a $15 million federal boost in 2023 to house people experiencing homelessness in the city. The plans were disrupted, leaders and advocates told Verite, when Louisiana State Police started clearing out encampments before Taylor Swift's concerts last fall. Then, Gov. Jeff Landry created a temporary shelter in a Gentilly warehouse before the Super Bowl and relocated homeless people there, according to The Lens. The shelter closed after Mardi Gras. Authorities lately have been cracking down on people sleeping on the sidewalks of the French Quarter and the Marigny, according to The Times-Picayune.

Rice was sentenced to five years probation and 30 days of jail time on July 17th. Since Rice was sentenced, NFL insiders estimated that the league would expedite its disciplinary process and give the receiver a multi-game suspension. Considering the nature of Rice's legal charges, Reid unintentionally made a pun by saying that Rice has been 'full speed ahead' during training camp. The NFL can announce whether or not Rice will receive a suspension at any time. For now, the Chiefs simply have to prepare for the worst. Rice is not going to let a potential suspension slow him down, despite the uncertainty of his future. 'This is my job, and this is what I love to do,' Rice concluded. 'Even when I'm not able to be out there with my team, I'm still going to be working as hard as I can so I can be back out there with them as soon as possible.' Hopefully the NFL announces how they plan to discipline Rice, if at all, as soon as possible. Sha'Carri Richardson Arrested for Domestic Violence at Seattle Airport
Reigning 100-meter world champion Sha'Carri Richardson was arrested last weekend at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on charges of fourth-degree domestic violence, according to a police report obtained by The Associated Press. Newsweek reached out to Richardson's agent and manager via email on Saturday for comment. The arrest of one of track and field's most prominent figures marks another controversial chapter in Richardson's turbulent career. This incident comes after her previous legal troubles, including a positive marijuana test at the 2021 U.S. Olympic trials that prevented her from competing at the Tokyo Olympics. Richardson's pattern of off-track issues threatens to overshadow her athletic achievements and raises questions about athlete conduct standards.
