New residence redefines coastal living in Oman

Zawya08-07-2025
MUSCAT: Al Mouj Muscat has unveiled its latest milestone in luxury real estate with the launch of Azura Beach Residences, a groundbreaking waterfront development that introduces the first dual-frontage homes in the Sultanate of Oman — offering residents breathtaking views of both the ocean and the marina.
This exclusive new neighbourhood, set within the West Point precinct of the sought-after Al Marsa District, reflects a bold evolution in Al Mouj Muscat's vision for integrated coastal living.
In an exclusive interview with the Oman Observer, Salma al Hashmi, Vice President of Marketing at Al Mouj Muscat, explained the inspiration behind the project and how Azura exemplifies the developer's commitment to community-centric design, sustainability and architectural distinction.
'Our vision is always rooted in four guiding principles,' Al Hashmi began. 'We listen intently to what our customers truly value. We study the geographical character of each plot of land. We aim to deliver sustainable design and we integrate nature into every aspect of the community. Azura Beach Residences is a perfect manifestation of that vision'.
According to Al Hashmi, the unique location — with the marina to one side and the open sea on the other — naturally lent itself to a design that maximises both water views and a sense of openness.
'The land inspired us,' she said. 'It's peaceful, it's rare and it called for something distinctive — something that embraces the rhythm of nature while meeting the evolving desires of our residents'.
Launched on July 6, 2025, Azura Beach Residences spans 19,500 sq m of prime coastal land and offers just 309 units, including 286 one- to three-bedroom apartments and 23 four-bedroom chalets — each designed with private plunge pools, three-car parking spaces and seamless indoor-outdoor layouts that amplify natural light and scenic vistas.
This sense of intentional exclusivity is central to the project's long-term value proposition. 'The number of homes is deliberately limited,' Al Hashmi emphasised. 'We continuously assess market demand and respond with carefully calibrated offerings. Exclusivity here isn't about scarcity for its own sake — it's about ensuring each residence retains value, appeal and a strong sense of privacy'.
'As you've seen by yourself tonight,' she added, 'the interest has been phenomenal. We're anticipating a full sell-out of this sector within just a few days'.
Beyond architecture, Azura Beach Residences is designed to enhance the lifestyle fabric of Al Marsa District.
Residents benefit from direct access to Al Mouj Walk and the marina promenade, while enjoying integrated amenities such as an infinity pool, landscaped relaxation zones, co-working lounges, children's play areas and a fully equipped gym.
The community is also preparing to launch new sports facilities, including padel and tennis courts, as part of its broader vision for healthy living. 'Wellness is not an afterthought — it's an essential pillar of our masterplan,' said Al Hashmi.
'From walking tracks to leisure and fitness spaces, every detail is crafted to encourage movement, mindfulness and connection with nature'.

Oman signs mining deals worth $498mln

The agreements are part of the government's wider strategy to diversify the economy, boost local manufacturing and create sustainable job opportunities. The Ministry of Energy and Minerals has signed three new exploration and mining agreements with two specialised companies, marking a significant step in strengthening Oman's mining sector, maximising the added value of mineral resources and attracting investment to priority geological areas. The agreements are part of the government's wider strategy to diversify the economy, boost local manufacturing and create sustainable job opportunities for Omanis. The first agreement grants Gulf Mineral Materials Company exploration and mining rights in Concession Area 11-C, located in Al Buraimi Governorate. Spanning 1,089 square kilometres, the concession is distinguished by its ophiolite rock series, with promising indicators of copper and chromium ore deposits. The initial phase of the project, expected to last two to three years, will involve topographical mapping, geochemical and geophysical surveys, as well as drilling and exploratory trenching to determine the commercial viability of mining operations. The second and third agreements, signed with Novel Muscat International Company, cover Concession Areas 51-G1 and 51-G2 in Al Wusta Governorate. In Area 51-G2, covering 30 km², the company will develop an integrated industrial project that includes a plant to produce salts and sodium carbonate (soda ash) using seawater transported to evaporation basins for drying and processing. In Area 51-G1, which extends over 558 km², a hydrated lime production facility will be established. Initial work will focus on identifying the location, quality and reserves of raw materials within geological formations rich in silica, limestone and various clays. Combined, these projects represent a total investment of RO 192 million ($500 million), including the cost of establishing industrial facilities, conducting feasibility studies and implementing mining plans in line with international standards. Eng Salim bin Nasser al Aufi, Minister of Energy and Minerals, stressed that the mining sector is a key driver of Oman's economic growth and diversification. He noted that these agreements reflect the ministry's commitment to attracting high-quality investments that can transform raw mineral resources into advanced manufacturing industries, thereby supporting national value chains and opening new opportunities for local talent. Abdullah bin Ahmed al Hadi, CEO of Gulf Mineral Materials, highlighted the company's track record, including its successful development of the ferrochrome plant in Suhar in partnership with international strategic partners. The facility's production capacity is set to increase to 7,200 tonnes per month by 2026, with a focus on operational sustainability, technology localisation and SMEs participation. Hamoud bin Said al Aufi, Managing Director of Novel Muscat International, emphasised that the projects will contribute to Oman's manufacturing sector by producing high-value products locally, generating skilled employment and supporting sustainable development. The ministry views these agreements as part of its long-term vision to build an integrated, globally competitive mining industry that enhances Oman's position as a regional hub for advanced mineral-based industries. 2025 © All right reserved for Oman Establishment for Press, Publication and Advertising (OEPPA) Provided by SyndiGate Media Inc. Talent: Duqm's new power supply

MEDIA On Tuesday, SEZAD's Duqm Summer Series turned the conversation from cranes and cargo to people and potential PHOTO On Tuesday, SEZAD's Duqm Summer Series turned the conversation from cranes and cargo to people and potential, focusing on how to keep talent switched on and ready for change. Duqm: The Special Economic Zone at Duqm (SEZAD) continued its inaugural Duqm Summer Series on Tuesday with a one-hour session on workforce development – a subject increasingly at the heart of business strategy. In a world of rapid change, finding, keeping and growing the right people has become as important as securing investment or winning new markets. Organized by Hanan Al Siyabi, Marketing & Business Development Section Head at SEZAD, the lunchtime session was led by Auf Al Aufi, Talent Management Section Head at Development Bank. His focus, how to build teams that are not only resilient, but able to adapt quickly, work with purpose and see opportunity in change. 'The most successful organizations are those that understand talent is not a fixed asset, it's a living, evolving capability,' said Al Aufi. 'We spoke Tuesday about developing leaders who are comfortable with ambiguity and teams that can adapt quickly without losing focus. That means investing in skills, culture and the systems that allow people to work at their best.' The case for such investment is clear. Gallup's State of the Global Workplace 2024 report found that only 21% of employees worldwide are actively engaged at work, with disengagement costing the global economy US$8.8 trillion a year - around 9% of GDP. The Society for Human Resource Management estimates that replacing an employee can cost up to twice their annual salary when recruitment, training, lost productivity and cultural impact are factored in. And with Gallup reporting that more than half of the global workforce is actively seeking new opportunities, retention is no longer an HR side issue, it is a decisive factor in business performance. Tuesday's discussion moved beyond traditional HR fixes. It explored the full employee journey, from thoughtful onboarding that embeds organisational purpose, to career paths built on fairness, inclusion and wellbeing. Participants examined how development opportunities can be made transparent and how to create workplaces people actively choose to stay in, contribute to and innovate from. The conversation also drew a line back to last week's session on AI and automation. As technology reshapes skills needs, the consensus was clear - successful AI strategies go hand in hand with equally ambitious people strategies – reskilling, continuous learning and leaders ready to guide teams through transformation. For Al Siyabi, the link between talent and competitiveness is obvious. 'Duqm has always been about building for the long-term,' she said. 'These sessions give our tenants the tools and perspective to develop their people with the same care they put into developing their infrastructure. Workforce resilience is not just an HR concern it's a competitiveness concern.' The Duqm Summer Series began on 5 August with Saeed Abul Ghafoor, CEO of Star Drones, leading a session on AI and automation. It continues through August with discussions on global supply chains and workplace culture, each a focused, one-hour exchange designed to give participants practical insights they can put to work immediately. In an era where talent is as valuable as capital, Duqm is positioning itself not just as a logistics and industrial hub, but as a place where organisations invest in the people who will shape their future and the region's contribution to the global economy.
