Civil works completed, final testing underway
The
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited
(BMRCL) has confirmed that civil works, including all 16 elevated stations across the Yellow Line, have been completed. Interior station finishing, platform installations, passenger amenities, and Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) signaling systems are now fully in place.
The Yellow Line will offer much-needed connectivity to key zones like Electronic City, Bommanahalli, HSR Layout, and Silk Board, linking them with the Green Line at RV Road interchange and eventually the upcoming Blue and Pink Lines.

Safety inspections to begin mid-July
The final safety green signal is awaited from the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety (CMRS). The Independent Safety Assessment (ISA), a crucial prerequisite, is set to begin post-July 15. Officials believe the inspections and approvals should be completed swiftly, barring any technical red flags.
Expected launch timeline: Late July to early August
With most infrastructure in place and test runs underway, BMRCL officials are targeting a phased launch between late July and early August 2025. If safety inspections proceed smoothly, the line may open initially with partial services, followed by full operations as more trainsets are inducted.
Live Events
This timeline marks a significant step forward for Bengaluru's metro network, which has faced repeated delays due to procurement issues, COVID-19 disruptions, and regulatory hurdles.

Could the electric hydrofoil ferry change the way we commute?
During the golden age for ferries in the 1800s, steamboats dotted the shorelines of coastal cities to transport passengers. Then cars and trains took over. Now, driven by congestion and the revitalisation of urban waterfronts, ferries are making a comeback. But, what operators struggle to offer is a fast, sustainable mode of transit. "Commuters want speed," said Jakob Kuttenkeuler, a professor of naval architecture at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. Over the last few months, however, Stockholm has been testing a vessel that may solve that problem: the world's first electric hydrofoil ferry. Developed by a Swedish start-up, Candela, a 30-seat, battery-driven vessel known as the P-12 has almost halved the commute time of a conventional diesel ferry - to 30 minutes - across an 11-mile stretch between the island of Ekero and City Hall in the centre of Stockholm. At the same time, the P-12 emits 95% less emissions than the diesel ferry and uses 80% less energy, according to SL, the Stockholm public transport authority. Gustav Hasselskog, Candela's founder and chief executive, said the realisation, 11 years ago, that his speedboat guzzled 15 times as much fuel as his car had set him on a course to develop an energy-efficient maritime solution. "High-speed passenger ferries and boats are the least fuel-efficient mode of transit in the world because almost all energy is used to push away the water," he said. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 안구건조 걱정 없이 안전하게 강남아이원스안과 지금 신청하기 Undo "If you convert to electric, you need massive amounts of batteries, which are expensive and have limited range. The only way to go far and fast on the same battery is when you hydrofoil." Hydrofoils are the winglike structures mounted under a boat's hull to lift the craft above the water as it gains speed, much as airplane wings do through the air. The technique drastically reduces drag from water friction and allows for faster, more energy-efficient travel. Kuttenkeuler, who invented the Efoil, an electric hydrofoil board that glides above the water's surface, said hydrofoil technology was a common marine transport system in the 1980s but was phased out because of the high operational costs. Advancements in digitalization, composite materials and sensor technology have contributed to its comeback, he added. In addition to the environmental benefits, the electric hydrofoil has several other advantages. The batteries are relatively small, so they do not require massive charging infrastructure. They do not generate waves that erode the shoreline or wreak havoc for windsurfers and moored boats in their wake. And because they are kept level by a computer and soar over the waves, they do not cause seasickness. So far, Mumbai, India, has the most ambitious plans for the P-12. JalVimana, the local shuttle operator, will begin with 11 ferries on popular tourist routes from the Gateway of India to Alibag and Elephanta Island. A third route will connect the airport with the centre of Mumbai, cutting travel time from 90 minutes by car to less than 30 minutes on the water.

Kylie Kelce gets real with Priyanka Chopra Jonas in raw conversation about motherhood struggles and celebrity parenting
Kylie Kelce's podcast moment with Priyanka Chopra (Getty Images) When two powerhouse women like Kylie Kelce and Priyanka Chopra Jonas sit down for a conversation, sparks are bound to fly—especially when the topic is as raw and relatable as motherhood. On a recent episode of Kylie's Not Gonna Lie podcast, the NFL wife and the international superstar didn't just chat—they connected over something far deeper: the complex, messy, and beautiful reality of raising toddlers while juggling careers. Kylie Kelce and Priyanka Chopra Jonas bond over the chaos and beauty of motherhood Kylie Kelce kicked off the episode by asking Priyanka how she manages her work-life balance. The Quantico star didn't shy away from honesty. She admitted that while chaos once energized her in her 30s, her approach has shifted since entering her 40s, settling into marriage, and becoming a mom. 'Now I need structure,' she confessed, describing how planning her day, making to-do lists, and getting everything in order helps her stay grounded. 'It might sound obsessive, but it's second nature now.' For Priyanka, it's less about controlling everything and more about creating a rhythm that supports her peace of mind. Kylie on Jason 'Magic Mike' Stunt, Disney Throwbacks & Bollywood Dance with Priyanka Chopra | Ep. 25 Kylie, who's raising four young daughters with NFL star Jason Kelce, echoed the struggles many parents face—particularly when it comes to traveling with little ones. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 5 Books Warren Buffett Wants You to Read In 2025 Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo She admitted that flying with her kids gives her anxiety, often discouraging her from traveling at all. That's where Priyanka's practical experience came in handy. The actress shared three go-to tips for making air travel with children less stressful. 'The more you do it, the more they get used to it,' she advised. 'You just have to load them in the car, take them to the airport.' Repetition, she stressed, is key. Her second piece of advice was all about timing and adjusting to new time zones. 'If they are up when it's daytime, let them stay up. Encourage it… so they don't jetlag,' she explained, recommending that parents keep children awake during long daytime flights to help ease transitions. And lastly, Priyanka emphasized the importance of keeping kids entertained. 'Entertainment, entertainment, entertainment,' she laughed. 'That doesn't mean you have to take loads of toys… I have little things in my bag. My daughter's obsessed with Moana. I have little Moana, little mini.' While Priyanka and her husband Nick Jonas are navigating parenthood with one child—Malti Marie, born via surrogacy three and a half years ago—Kylie's world is understandably a bit more chaotic. Her four daughters, including newborn Finnley Anne, make for a bustling household. Despite the contrast in family size, both women are thriving. Their conversation was a refreshing look into how strong, driven women tackle the chaos of motherhood—sometimes with a plan, sometimes just by holding on tight and laughing through it. UAE airfares plunge: Cheap last-min flights to London, Istanbul, New York & more for as Low as Dh1,300
Currently, the most affordable flight from Dubai to London is priced at Dh1,300 ($354) for travel between July 15 and 31, a significant drop from last year's rates. (Representative Image) This summer, UAE residents are seeing a rare opportunity for budget-friendly travel, with affordable last-minute flight deals on offer, even during the peak months of July and August. For instance, tickets from Dubai to London are now as low as Dh1,300 ($354), a steep drop from last year's Dh2,500 ($681). Similarly, flights from Abu Dhabi to popular destinations like Mumbai are priced from Dh708 ($193), offering further savings compared to last year. Airfares See a Welcome Decrease Travel experts attribute the dip in airfares to various factors, including the easing of previous price hikes. Rashid Abbas, Managing Director of Arooha Travels, told local media outlet Gulf News, that fares to destinations in the CIS and India have dropped to Dh610 ($166) to Dh800 ($217). He called the price reduction a much-needed relief after years of inflated ticket prices. For example, flights from Dubai to Istanbul and Cairo are priced at Dh653 ($177) and Dh1,430 ($389), respectively, offering budget-friendly options for those planning a last-minute trip. 'We're seeing a much more manageable increase in airfares this July,' Abbas noted, acknowledging the positive shift compared to the steep prices of the past two years. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Scientists: Tinnitus? Direct flights to European cities like London, Barcelona, and Lisbon are still priced between Dh2,500 ($681) and Dh3,800 ($1,032), which remains out of reach for some budget-conscious travelers. Still, there are affordable alternatives. Afi Ahmed, Chairman of Smart Travels, explained to local media, that while certain European routes remain expensive, budget airlines such as Eurowings, Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi are offering better deals. For example, flights from Dubai to Paris on these carriers cost Dh2,815 ($766), while a ticket to Berlin is priced at Dh1,860 ($506). Even long-haul flights are seeing more reasonable prices. A direct flight from Dubai to New York, for instance, is priced at Dh2,945 ($800), a significant improvement from previous years. Last-Minute Deals: Great Bargains Under Dh2,000 ($544) Here are some of the best last-minute flight deals for travel between July 15 and 31, 2023, with tickets starting at these estimated prices as of the time of writing: From Dubai: Dubai to Tbilisi (flydubai): Dh1,300 ($354) Dubai to Istanbul (AJet): Dh653 ($177) Dubai to Chisinau, Moldova (Wizz Air Abu Dhabi): Dh538 ($146) Dubai to Cairo (Air Arabia Express): Dh1,430 ($389) Dubai to New York (United Airlines): Dh2,945 ($800) Dubai to Bangkok (Emirates): Dh3,763 ($1,024) From Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi to Yerevan (Etihad): Dh618 ($168) Abu Dhabi to Manama (Etihad): Dh415 ($113) Abu Dhabi to Muscat (Etihad): Dh485 ($132) Abu Dhabi to Istanbul (Etihad): Dh1,006 ($274) Abu Dhabi to Athens (Etihad): Dh1,635 ($445) From Sharjah: Sharjah to Istanbul (AJet): Dh706 ($192) Sharjah to Doha (Qatar Airways): Dh755 ($205) Sharjah to Tbilisi (Air Arabia): Dh1,432 ($389) From Ras Al Khaimah: RAK to Mumbai (IndiGo): Dh742 ($202) RAK to Istanbul (AJet): Dh653 ($177) Shifting Travel Habits Travel agents attribute the drop in airfares to the changing travel habits of UAE residents. Many people are now choosing to travel during off-peak months to take advantage of cheaper fares. Instead of long vacations of one or two months, travelers are opting for shorter trips of two to ten days. The trend towards shorter holidays has led to increased demand for destinations closer to the UAE, such as Azerbaijan, Schengen countries, and parts of Africa. These locations offer affordability and convenience, making them more attractive to residents seeking quick getaways. Additionally, corporate leave policies, typically no longer than 20 days, have prompted many employees to break their travel into two or three shorter trips each year. In cities like Dubai, residents often return by early August, planning future trips for winter or Diwali holidays.
