Spanish police have alleged that a man suspected of shooting two men dead at a bar in Malaga fled through "three countries in 15 hours". The two men, understood to be Eddie Lyons Junior and Ross Monaghan , died after a gunman opened fire outside Monaghans Bar in Fuengirola, Malaga, on May 31 . A man aged 44 was arrested in Liverpool on June 13 , according to the National Crime Agency , which supported the arrest alongside Merseyside Police . He then appeared in Westminster Magistrates' Court, ahead of extradition proceedings. On Tuesday, the Spanish National Police , which is leading the investigation, alleged the man took a route through "three countries in less than 15 hours" and used disguises to avoid being detected. It said that it took "just seven days" to identify him. "We are not aware of any current evidence which suggests the deaths of these two men in Spain are linked to the recent criminal attacks in Scotland being investigated as part of Operation Portaledge. "We are aware of the statement from the Spanish police and, although we cannot comment on an ongoing investigation in another jurisdiction, our position remains that we have no current evidence to suggest that this incident was orchestrated from Scotland .

CCTV released after assault in Scots nightclub
Police are investigating an assault in a Scots nightclub and have released CCTV to assist with their investigation. CCTV images of a man have been released following an assault in a Scots nightclub. The incident took place last year on Saturday, July 27, 2024, between 1am and 3am at Life Nightclub in Dunfermline. Police Scotland have now released images of a man they believe may be able to assist officers with an ongoing investigation into an assault. The black male is described as speaking with an African/English accent and being between 30 and 40 years of age, around 5ft 8in tall and of slim build. At the time, he was wearing dark grey jeans, black Vans style shoes, a red t-shirt, black jacket and a black/grey cap. Those with information can contact Dunfermline CIU via 101 and quote incident number 4198 of July 30 2024. Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Last week we reported, in a separate incident, that a savage carer who bit a lump out of a pal's face and spat on a police officer has been banned from the profession. Danielle Gaffar, from Dundee, tried to hide the fact she'd been jailed for a brutal nightclub attack when she applied to work in social care last year. The 24-year-old then went on to attack a police officer after a drunken house party, kicking them on the head and spitting on them. A social care watchdog struck the home carer off the register. A report from the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) told Gaffar: 'You have been convicted of two violent criminal offences in the space of five years. This demonstrates a disregard for the law, lack of self-control and propensity to violence. 'Your actions resulted in physical, and likely emotional, harm to the victims.' Kyra Strachan was going out with Gaffer's ex when she was assaulted to her severe injury and permanent disfigurement in February 2019 by her former friend. Dundee Sheriff Court heard that Gaffar and Miss Strachan, who were both 18 and at school at the time, were formerly close friends but there had been a 'disagreement' between them and there remained some animosity. Strachan had been on the dance floor of the Aura nightclub when she was attacked from behind, pulled to the ground, and her head was banged off the floor several times. Gaffar put her arm around her victim's throat until she struggled to breathe and bit her right cheek, leaving her needing eight stitches and permanently scarred. Gaffar was jailed for 16 months after a sheriff rejected defence pleas not to jail her, labelling her actions outrageous and 'reprehensible' and saying there had been 'absolute outrage in the community' as a result. In January last year, Gaffer failed to disclose the conviction when registering to be a support workers in home care. Just six months later she was convicted at Dundee Sheriff Court for a second time. Join the Daily Record WhatsApp community! Grieving mother believes 'third party' was involved in death of her 19-year-old son whose body was found following four-week hunt
The heartbroken mother of a Scottish teenager, who was missing for a month, believes a 'third party' was involved in her son's death. Nineteen-year-old Cole Cooper vanished on May 9, sparking a four-week major search which involved helicopters, divers and specialist teams to track him down. He was last spotted on CCTV five days before, trying to enter his father's home after a house party. After assessing 2,000 hours of CCTV footage and speaking to over 400 people, Police Scotland found the young man dead in a wooded area near Falkrik. Now his grieving mother Wendy Stewart, 42, believes there was 'third party' involvement in her son's death. In an interview with Sky News, the mourning parent said her teenage son had been in 'various arguments' in the days before he went missing. Speaking of her anguish of how she would never see her son, cuddle or hold his hand again, she said Cole was taken away from her 'far too son'. 'Whether it be intentionally or unintentionally, I do believe there has been some involvement by a third party and the result is the death of Cole,' she said. It comes after Cole's family organised a vigil for the 19-year-old last weekend, where they spoke of getting 'justice'. When Ms Stewart was asked the meaning behind this she said it was to find the person who 'is responsible for the death of [her] child'. Cole's death is currently being treated by unexplained, Police Scotland previously said. His aunt, Aimee Tennie, 32, also spoke of the family's general anger over how Cole's case was being managed by the force. Explaining how they were aware of arguments the teenager had before he vanished, Ms Tennie said the family wanted details 'thoroughly' re-assessed. His grieving mother also echoed similar concerns, claiming Police Scotland had handled her son's case 'shockingly'. The 42-year-old claimed she had to 'scream and shout from rooftops to be heard by the police'. She added: 'The police really need to take accountability and listen to families, they are reporting a missing child and understand the family knows their child best.' The 19-year-old's family have not been informed when his body will be released to them, so they can pay their final respects. In the wake of Cole's death, the family previously said they would continue to 'fight for the truth'. 'We never gave up, and we never will give up - not until we have the answers. The fight for truth, for justice, and for Cole is not over.' The family, who described Mr Cooper as their 'world' and said they were 'completely broken', thanked the local community for their assistance in the search for their missing boy. They added: 'To the incredible community and beyond, thank you. From the bottom of our hearts. 'Your support through this horrendous experience has meant more than words can ever say. 'Every message, every shared post, every act of kindness - your generosity and compassion carried us through our darkest moments. We will never forget it'. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: 'Enquiries remain ongoing.' MailOnline has approached the force for further comment.
