Lulu to headline Hebridean Celtic Festival in her farewell tour year
Scots pop star Lulu is set to headline this year's Hebridean Celtic Festival with a performance celebrating her six-decade-long music career.
This year's festival will take place from July 16 to July 19 in and around Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis.
Known for her hit singles such as "Relight My Fire," "Boom Bang-A-Bang," and "Shout," Lulu will grace the main stage on July 18.
Having rocked the crowd at Glastonbury last year, this will be Lulu's final year of touring.
Skerryvore (Image: Supplied) Lulu said: "I'm looking forward to visiting the Outer Hebrides and performing at HebCelt in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis - see you in July."
Joining her is the Celtic rock band Skerryvore who will celebrate their 20th anniversary with a performance on July 19.
Accordionist and founding member Daniel Gillespie said: "This is a special year for the band as we celebrate 20 years of Skerryvore.
"To headline the Saturday night at HebCelt means the world to us as we remember playing McNeils Bar all those years ago and dreaming of playing the main stage of the festival.
Nina Nesbitt (Image: Supplied) ''We can't wait to see everyone on the island in July and have a very special show planned to celebrate 20 years."
Other performers include "Mountain Music" star Nina Nesbitt and headliners Tide Lines.
Nina, who has been supporting Snow Patrol on their sold-out UK and Ireland tour, will make her HebCelt debut.
She said: "I'm looking forward to visiting HebCelt for the first time - it's always a pleasure to play for a Scottish crowd."
The 2025 line-up also features Brit Award-winning Eddi Reader, Kassidy, Tom McGuire & The Brassholes, TRIP, Astro Bloc, Isla Scott, Laura Silverstone, Cassie and Maggie, Alasdair White & Keith Morrison, Ciorstaidh Beaton, Iona Mairead, and Fèis Eilean an Fhraoich.
They will be joined by previously announced acts such as Beluga Lagoon, Lauren Collier, LUSA, El Sartel, Samba Sene & Diwan, The Tumbling Souls, Josie Duncan, Madison Violet, Elias Alexander, Cala, Trail West, Ruairidh Gray, Malin Lewis Trio, internet sensation NATI, and Gaelic TV icon Donnie Dòtaman.

"Our Celtic roots are proudly represented with Skerryvore marking their 20th year and consistently one of our most requested acts by fans, Highland heroes Tide Lines, and festival favourites like Trail West, Cala, and The Tumbling Souls.
"We're also thrilled to spotlight talents like LUSA and Elias Alexander, alongside live sensations Beluga Lagoon, Tom McGuire & The Brassholes and Kassidy.
"There's truly something for everyone at HebCelt, including cult Gaelic star Donnie Dòtaman who lit up so many childhoods, and the talented young musicians from Fèis who once again are opening the Island Stage on Saturday afternoon.
"This year's festival also has the strongest line-up of female performers any of us can remember, from our headliners Lulu, Nina and Eddi to the likes of Madison Violet who have just announced this will be one of their last shows, plus new and exciting talent such as Laura Silverstone, Iona Mairead, Ciorstaidh Beaton and Isla Scott.
"We simply can't wait to welcome music lovers of all tastes to what promises to be one of the most eclectic, vibrant, and memorable festivals yet."
A record 70 per cent of the acts this year are female-led or have female members.
This aligns with the festival's pledge to Keychange, an international campaign addressing gender inequality in the music industry.
HebCelt has had at least a 50:50 gender balance every year since 2014.
The festival will also feature a special celebration of An Lanntair, a renowned arts centre in Stornoway, marking its 40th anniversary.
Details will be revealed next month, including one-off performances and collaborations, live band ceilidhs, and the return of the beloved late-night festival club.
HebCelt has been a key event in Scotland's cultural calendar since 1996, attracting music lovers from around the globe to the Outer Hebrides.
The festival is on course to have helped generate more than £40 million for the local economy by its 30th anniversary in 2027.
Earlier this month, Creative Scotland endorsed the festival, securing its long-term planning with a three-year funding package.
Businesses interested in sponsorship opportunities, including three-year deals, can now apply.

Ncuti Gatwa shares emotional message to fans and co-stars after Doctor Who exit
Ncuti Gatwa has shared an emotional post thanking his co-star companions after leaving the show. Gatwa's 15th Doctor regenerated in Saturday's finale (May 31), and regenerated into the returning Billie Piper. In a statement provided by the BBC, the Scottish-Rwandan actor said the "journey has been one that I will never forget". Now, he has shared a social media post thanking co-stars Millie Gibson and Varada Sethu. Gatwa regenerating in his final episode of Doctor Who (Image: BBC Studios/Bad Wolf/PA) Gibson played Ruby Sunday and was the main companion in Gatwa's first series as the 15th Doctor. Her character appeared less frequently in the second series, with Varada Sethu's Belinda Chandra taking the mantle as the new companion. Taking to Instagram, Gatwa shared a picture of the trio, and said: "Three queens of the sky, "Twas an experience like no other and thank God we were by eachothers side. "There aren't quite the words for how much you both mean to me but I am so grateful I got the opportunity to work, learn from and laugh with you both everyday. "You're both just simply incredible and it has been nothing short of a blessing to share this journey with both of you. "Ruby Sunday and Belinda Chandra will live in mine and the Whoniverse hearts forever. "Also shout out to the CAPTAIN of all 15's companions. Captain Poppy. Ultimate top dog of this season! (lil Sienna brought so much life and magic to us all on set ) I love you guys. We did it." It was the first of two Instagram posts Gatwa has shared since his exit. The second was a picture of himself in the TARDIS, with the caption: "Monsters, goblins, gods, human-eating Slugs, invisible brain-altering creatures, evil barbers, conspiracy theorists… you've had quite a busy two years. Well done and rest up son. "@bbcdoctorwho @disneydoctorwho @russelltdavies63 @bad_wolf_tv Thank you endlessly. XV." In a statement released by the BBC, on his decision to leave, Gatwa said:'You know when you get cast, at some point you are going to have to hand back that sonic screwdriver and it is all going to come to an end, but nothing quite prepares you for it. 'This journey has been one that I will never forget, and a role that will be part of me forever. "There are no words to describe what it feels like to be cast as the Doctor, nor are there words to explain what it feels like to be accepted into this iconic role that has existed for over 60 years and is truly loved by so many across the globe. 'I've loved every minute of it, but now is the time to hand over the keys to that beloved blue box and let someone else take control and enjoy it every bit as much as I have. "I'll truly miss it, and forever be grateful to it, and everyone that has played a part in my journey as the Doctor.' After Gatwa's exit, the 15th Doctor is seen regenerating into Billie Piper. Piper, 42, first appeared in the series as the companion to the Ninth Doctor in 2005, playing Rose Tyler alongside Christopher Eccleston's Time Lord. She stayed on and was the companion to the 10th Doctor, played by David Tennant. However, despite her introduction on the show, it has not been confirmed she is the 16th Doctor. Some fans are also not convinced, with the end credits reading: "And introducing Billie Piper." Many compared this to when Ncuti Gatwa was introduced as the 15th Doctor, when it read: "And introducing Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor." Previous actors have also received similar credit introductions. "Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor" "Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor" "And introducing Billie Piper" ...but NO "as The Doctor" I FIND THAT VERY SUS. — Ben (He/Him) (@BenDW96) May 31, 2025 One said on X (formerly Twitter): "Billie Piper wasn't introduced as the Doctor, and this year was the 20th anniversary of Series 1... There's definitely more to this..." Another said: "She's clearly not the Doctor but some Bad Wolf shenanigans." Fueling speculation on her role in the show, Doctor Who TV simply says: "But just how and why she is back remains to be seen…" Recommended reading: Ncuti Gatwa regenerates and leaves Doctor Who as '16th Doctor' is revealed Every actor that has played the role of The Doctor and where are they now Doctor Who fans spot hint suggesting Billie Piper may not be the next Doctor On her return, Piper said: 'It's no secret how much I love this show, and I have always said I would love to return to the Whoniverse as I have some of my best memories there, so to be given the opportunity to step back on that Tardis one more time was just something I couldn't refuse, but who, how, why and when, you'll just have to wait and see.' Shortly after the finale aired, the actress shared a post on Instagram holding a rose with the caption that read: 'A rose is a rose is a rose !!!' If she is confirmed as The Doctor, Piper will be the second after Jody Whittaker's 13th Doctor.

How to watch Rangers vs Celtic: TV channel and live stream for Old Firm derby in Scottish Premiership today
Barry Ferguson takes charge of his first Old Firm derby at Ibrox as Rangers host Celtic today (Getty Images) Rangers host Celtic in the final Old Firm derby of the Scottish Premiership season today. This is Celtic's first fixture since being crowned champions of Scotland once again with an impressive 5-0 victory over Dundee United last weekend. Advertisement CLICK HERE TO FOLLOW RANGERS VS CELTIC LIVE! Whilst it is the club's 55th title in their history and fourth in a row, they will not receive a guard of honour from Rangers before kick-off. Usually whenever a league title is won, in the very next game, the champions are clapped onto the pitch by the opposition but Barry Ferguson revealed that his side will not be following that tradition this afternoon. The decision could add spice to a fixture that has very little riding on it, aside from the usual bragging rights. Rangers have won the last two Old Firm derby meetings - including a 3-0 success at Ibrox at the beginning of the year - but go into this meeting in poor form as they are without a victory in their last five games across all competitions. Advertisement Celtic, meanwhile, have scored 15 goals in their last three outings and will be out to celebrate their latest title win in style. Here's everything you need to know about where to watch the game. How to watch Rangers vs Celtic TV channel: The game will be broadcast on Sky Sports. Coverage starts at 11am BST on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football ahead of a 12pm kick-off. Live stream: Subscribers will be able to watch via the Sky Go app. LIVE coverage: Follow all the action with Standard Sport's dedicated match blog!

Jeremie Frimpong sets ambitious target after Liverpool transfer
Jeremie Frimpong Targets Silverware Surge After Liverpool Arrival Immediate Impact and Ambition Jeremie Frimpong hasn't wasted a second laying out his Liverpool ambitions. Within moments of his unveiling, the 24-year-old Dutchman turned the conversation from his transfer fee to treble dreams. This was not the standard new-signing nicety. This was conviction. Advertisement 'For me, everywhere I've been I've always won things,' Frimpong told 'It's always been the league, cups and the league, so I've always won trebles. I want to win trebles, I want to win trophies – I play football to win trophies. I want to win as many trophies as possible.' Photo: IMAGO This isn't mere optimism. It's expectation, rooted in experience. At Celtic, Frimpong formed part of a domestic treble-winning side. At Bayer Leverkusen, he was instrumental in their Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal double, as well as a near miss in the Europa League final. Now, at Liverpool, the expectation only intensifies. Pedigree of Success Frimpong's CV already reads like a player well-acquainted with pressure and performance. In 2019/20, he celebrated a clean sweep in Scotland. Last season, under Xabi Alonso's historic Leverkusen side, he featured prominently in a campaign defined by unbeaten brilliance in Germany. Advertisement While their Europa League final defeat to Atalanta left a sour aftertaste, the message was clear: Frimpong arrives with a habit of winning and an appetite for more. His attacking instincts from right-back, paired with Liverpool's progressive, high-energy system under Arne Slot, could prove the perfect match. Slot's Vision and Early Opportunities The Community Shield in August offers an immediate chance to set the tone. A win against Crystal Palace might be modest in the grand scheme, but a trophy in Frimpong's competitive debut would align well with his trophy-first mentality. Liverpool have lifted silverware in each of the past two seasons and appear determined to continue that streak. High Expectations at Anfield Liverpool are no strangers to chasing trebles, even quadruples, only to fall marginally short. The desire remains, especially after the euphoric title celebrations that turned sombre just days later. With Frimpong in red, the bar is set high. His pace, tenacity, and fearlessness feel tailor-made for a side hungry to build a new era. If his past is any indication, Liverpool haven't just signed a player – they've acquired a mentality.
