BJP expels Tripura leader for circulating personal videos of party members on social media

The BJP state committee has expelled a local leader of Khayerpur Assembly constituency in West Tripura district for circulating "personal videos" on social media platforms, the party said on Sunday. The expelled BJP leader, however, claimed he has become a victim of a conspiracy to safeguard the interests of others.(ANI/Representative) The expelled leader, however, claimed he has become a victim of a conspiracy to safeguard the interests of others. Recently, several video and audio clips of intimate conversations between party leaders, including Manna Dey, the mandal president of Khayerpur, went viral on social media. Dey allegedly shared several of those clips on social media. "It has come to the notice of the party that you have started sharing personal videos on social media. Some other video clips were also being circulated on social media platforms. As a party worker, your action is against the party's discipline and unacceptable," the expulsion letter to Manna Dey by state BJP general secretary Amit Rakshit read. Such activities have tarnished the party's image, according to the letter. "Despite repeated warnings about your behaviour, you continue to break the discipline of the party. Therefore, you have been expelled from the party with immediate effect following a directive from the party state president (Rajib Bhattacharjee)," it said. Dey was informed that with this, he was relieved from all party posts. Although the expulsion letter was issued on May 24, it was shared on its official Facebook account on Sunday. Responding to his expulsion, Dey said in a social media post: "I have become a victim of a conspiracy. I love the BJP and accepted the party's decision (of expulsion). I appealed to the party leadership to ensure that no karyakarta becomes a victim to safeguard the interests of others. I will remain grateful to Yuva Morcha activists for whatever work I have done as a leader of Yuva Morcha. The social work will continue. Bharat Mata Ki Jai." Yuva Morcha is the youth wing of the BJP.

Kalen DeBoer updates status of two injured Alabama starting linemen

According to head coach Kalen DeBoer, a pair of starting Alabama Crimson Tide linemen have missed the program's second consecutive scrimmage of fall camp. Those players are offensive guard Jaeden Roberts and defensive tackle James Smith, both of which are dealing with injuries leading up to Alabama's season opener at Florida State on Saturday, Aug. 30, according to DeBoer. DeBoer also recently gave an update on the status of both following the Crimson Tide's scrimmage Saturday, saying of the duo: "Two guys that didn't scrimmage today, Jaeden and James, same as last week," DeBoer said. "James has been working through and building up. Feel good about the progress he's had in the week of practice and with it being live. Needed to hold back there, but he's getting closer by the day." "Jaeden has a concussion, just to tell you what it is, and he's going through the protocol of that and hasn't done anything from a team standpoint. Starting to work back into that protocol, which included being out there today, but not to participate in the scrimmage." A storyline to monitor leading up to Week 1, if Roberts is unavailable for the season opener, then Geno VanDeMark would likely step into the starting role at right guard. If Smith is unavailable, then names such as Jeremiah Beaman and Edric Hill could see increased snaps at defensive tackle. Alabama will open the 2025 season Saturday, Aug. 30 on the road at Florida State.
