Grateful Dead fans demand San Francisco concert ticket info from city officials
Grateful Dead fans are eager to secure tickets for this summer's Dead & Company concerts at Golden Gate Park. But so far, no one knows when — or how — tickets will be released.
Some fans are so anxious for answers, they're showing up at City Hall to ask directly.
On Thursday, the San Francisco Recreation and Park Commission unanimously approved permits for the band's three-night event, scheduled for Aug. 1–3, marking the 60th anniversary of the Grateful Dead.
During the public comment portion of the meeting, one fan, Johnny Greavu, stepped up to ask what thousands of Deadheads have been wondering.
'There's going to be massive demand for this. How are tickets gonna be distributed?' Greavu asked. 'Is there gonna be some sort of lottery, are tickets gonna go on sale at a certain date? This is going to be crazy.'
Commissioners, citing protocol, told him they couldn't respond. But Greavu continued pressing them on the matter anyway.
'Where is Shakedown gonna be?' he asked, referring to the makeshift marketplace that has long accompanied Dead shows. 'That should be planned.'
Though questions went unanswered, the commission's approval clears the way for what is expected to be one of the city's largest cultural events of the year.
Attendance is expected to reach 60,000 people per day at the Polo Fields.
In a social media post after the meeting, the Recreation and Park Department confirmed the vote, adding that further details from Dead & Company would be announced soon.
A department spokesperson referred ticket inquiries to event promoters Another Planet Entertainment and Live Nation, who also said details would be shared soon but did not provide immediate information on Friday.
San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie, who introduced the concert proposal earlier this week, called the event a tribute to the city's musical legacy and a potential economic boon.

Allen Media Group Hires Moelis to Explore Sale of TV Stations
Byron Allen's Allen Media Group has retained the investment bank Moelis & Company to help it explore financial and strategic alternatives, including a potential sale of its 28 owned and operated ABC-NBC-CBS-FOX affiliate television stations in 21 U.S. markets Over the last six years, AMG has invested over $1 billion in acquiring television stations and has become one of the largest independent privately held owners of Big 4 network affiliated stations. 'We have received numerous inquiries and written offers for most of our television stations and now is the time to explore getting a return on this phenomenal investment,' Allen said in a statement. 'We are going to use this opportunity to take a serious look at the offers, and the sale proceeds will be used to significantly reduce our debt.' An AMG representative declined to comment further. In addition to the stations, AMG has ten 24-hour HD cable television networks serving nearly 300 million subscribers, broadcast syndication, HBCU GO Sports, five digital streaming platforms and the free-streaming AVOD service, Local Now. In January, S&P Global put AMG on a negative credit watch, noting the company had an outstanding balance of $99.9 million on its $100 million revolving credit facility and had $60.1 million in cash as of Sept. 30, 2024. In February, the company refinanced the credit facility, extending its debt maturities to 2027. Additionally, Bloomberg previously reported that the company also has an $840 million term loan maturing in 2027. AMG also underwent a round of layoffs in May 2024 across every division designed to 'drive future business opportunities and support our growth strategies in our rapidly evolving industry,' the company said at the time. The pivot comes as Allen has public expressed interest in being a buyer rather than a seller of TV assets. Ticketbash had 2024 revenues of approximately $7.6 Million Dollars (unaudited) and has recently developed proprietary AI software that is expected to bring much-needed transparency and cost efficiency to the ticket industry. "This asset acquisition is very exciting for the Company, as it marks a bold and strategic move into the flourishing sports, entertainment and media sectors. In connection with this asset acquisition, we are reviewing several attractive options for our healthcare businesses, including a sale of our SarahCare subsidiaries and a potential spin-off of our Oral Thrush product. Although we strongly believe in these businesses, they do not fit with our strategic shift into the AI sports and entertainment platforms and the amazing growth opportunities we are targeting therein," said Michael Friedman, CEO of Innovative MedTech. He continued, "Acquiring Ticketbash should open a whole host of new possibilities for us, as we gain traction with Ticketbash's proprietary AI platform - a scalable technology already transforming ticketing operations. The move should position the Company at the forefront of applying advanced AI to build new business models and reach new markets faster than ever before. We, with Ticketbash, are already negotiating service deals with some of the up-and-coming giants in the sports industry and are also actively looking into several significant acquisition and joint venture opportunities." Additionally, the Company intends to file for a name and symbol change to reflect the new business. Key Transaction Terms and Details Pursuant to the Asset Purchase Agreement between the parties, Ticketbash agreed to sell to the Company certain of their assets (i.e., their AI software and related IP), and on May 30, 2025, and because of existing encumbrances on the assets being sold, the Company and Ticketbash entered into an amendment to the purchase agreement (the "Amendment"), providing that (i) the Company would pay $1,000,000 to Ticketbash within 10 months (the "Initial Cash Payment"), and upon completion of the Initial Cash Payment, the purchased assets will be immediately transferred to the Company; (ii) the Company will immediately issue Ticketbash's owners a number of shares of Company preferred stock having voting rights equal to sixty percent (60%) of the total voting rights of the Company, and which shares of preferred stock shall have no economic rights, except that such shares shall automatically convert into sixty percent (60%) of the total number of outstanding shares of Company common stock on a fully diluted basis (following issuance of conversion shares) calculated as of June 1, 2025, upon the payment by the Company of the Initial Cash Payment; (iii) an additional $2,000,000 cash payment shall be paid by the Company over a 36-month period based on based on revenue and income milestones to be determined by the parties in the future, and (iv) future royalties shall be paid to Ticketbash based on aggregate revenues generated by the Company's new Ticketbash subsidiary as follows: 2% of revenue up to $15,000,000, 4% of revenue from $15,000,000-$25,000,000, and 5% of revenue in excess of $25,000,000.
