Motorists will now have to drive around 45 minutes to reach their nearest branch in Haddington.
Halfords sent their Club Members emails informing them of the closure.
"Your McConechys Tweedmouth garage is moving. We're still here for everything you need," they said.
The major retailer added: "Our team is ready to welcome you to your local Haddington garage offering the same trusted services and expert care."

Customers have taken to social media to vent their sadness about the closure.
In a Facebook post, this user wrote: "Wow this is where I got my car serviced and MOTed, I must say they've provided excellent service to me in the town, and I am a Halfords Club Member, and Haddington will be a bit too far to travel to for the same trusted service and expert care."
"Just had an email to say Halfords are closing, hope all the staff get reemployed soon," another added.
While a third commented: "That's a real shame. I use the store regularly."

The news comes as the motoring industry faces wider challenges, such as the imminent closure of a huge car dealership with over 91,000 vehicles currently on sale — putting over 100 jobs at risk.
'FACING THE RISK'
The German online used car marketplace Heycar has suffered heavy losses since its launch in the UK in 2019, when it set out to rival Auto Trader and Motors.
Now, its majority shareholder, Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS), has decided to pull the plug, leaving more than 126 employees across the UK, Germany, and France facing the risk of losing their jobs.
A large proportion of Heycar's employees are based in the UK, and the company is expected to wind down its UK operations shortly after its closure in Germany, which is expected in mid-May.

A VWFS spokesperson confirmed, 'We expect we will have to let go of a large portion of Heycar's employees.'
Despite the closure, VWFS is planning to carry forward Heycar's innovations.
In a statement, VWFS UK said: 'Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) UK is pleased to announce the launch of a new subsidiary that will integrate the technology and expertise developed by Heycar.
'Heycar has been a pioneer in the online used car marketplace and, despite the decision to wind down their operations, the valuable insights and digital solutions developed so far will play a crucial role in the future of VWFS UK, as we continue to explore new ways to drive growth and innovation in the automotive e-commerce space.

'We are anticipating that specialists and resources from Heycar will be joining the new subsidiary, ensuring we have the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively utilise and develop the technology we're acquiring.'
Volkswagen Financial Services was the company's largest shareholder, holding a 78 percent stake, followed by Volkswagen at 13 percent and Renault at 9 percent.

Berlin weighs trusteeship extension for Rosneft's German assets, sources say

BERLIN/FRANKFURT, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Berlin is considering extending its trusteeship over the German assets of Russian oil producer Rosneft ( opens new tab for a sixth time, two people familiar with the matter said, as efforts to sell the business drag on. The repeated trusteeship renewals raise pressure on Berlin to come up with a better legal structure for Rosneft's activities in Germany. The situation is emblematic of the challenges Berlin faces in dealing with Russian assets in Germany at a time when efforts to end the war in Ukraine are picking up pace. Rosneft's German assets, including stakes in the Schwedt, MiRo and Bayernoil refineries, were put under government trusteeship in September 2022 in the wake of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, which sparked an energy crisis due to the collapse of Europe's relations with key supplier Russia. So far, Berlin has shied away from nationalising Rosneft's activities, opting instead to maintain de facto control over them via a trusteeship that still leaves legal ownership in Russian hands. The trusteeship, which has to be renewed every six months, currently runs until September 10 and is being enacted by the German network regulator, the Bundesnetzagentur, on behalf of the economy ministry. A formal decision about the trusteeship extension is still outstanding, the sources said. Rosneft, Russia's biggest oil producer, has sought to sell its German businesses, including a 54.17% stake in the PCK Schwedt refinery, but talks with potential suitors, including Qatar, have proven unsuccessful so far. The first source said talks between Rosneft and Qatar were ongoing. Rosneft also owns a 24% stake in the MiRo and a 28.57% stake in the Bayernoil refineries. The economy ministry said that Berlin was examining various options regarding the group's German assets. "Ensuring security of supply remains the primary goal," a spokesperson for the ministry said, adding that Berlin was not part of the sales negotiations and could not provide information about it. The Qatar Investment Authority and Rosneft did not respond to requests for comment. Gazprom Germania, now operating under the name Sefe, was nationalised by Berlin in 2022 after the group's former Russian parent ditched the division, which is a vital part of Germany's gas supply. "The federal government is locked into its own strategy. For the (conservatives) Christian Democrats, expropriating companies would be against their campaigns ... it would be a major step with a very high threshold," the first source said.

Dortmund in advanced talks for £40m Chelsea star after Juventus attempted hijack

Borussia Dortmund are in advanced talks to wrap up a permanent transfer deal for Chelsea's Carney Chukwuemeka, according to reports. Chukwuemeka spent time on loan at Dortmund last season and the German club have long been trying to convince Chelsea into allowing the England youth international to join them in a second temporary switch. But the Blues have consistently rejected Dortmund's loan offers and are only willing to offload Chukwuemeka on a permanent basis. It seems a deal is now edging closer with Fabrizio Romano posting on X that Chelsea and Dortmund are finally in 'advanced talks' over a sale. The update comes after the Daily Mail reported that Italian club Juventus had asked Chelsea about Chukwuemeka in an attempt to hijack the move. Metro's weekly football newsletter: In The Mixer. The outlet adds that Chelsea are holding out for £40m to sell the 21-year-old midfielder this summer – or at least a figure close to that asking price. Earlier this month, French journalist Sebastien Vidal claimed that Chukwuemeka was 'set to join' Dortmund in a £22m deal – but it looks like he could be sold for a higher amount closer to Chelsea's valuation. Dortmund are also set to bring in a second Chelsea player, Aaron Anselmino, on a loan deal which does not include a buy option. It's believed that Chelsea told Dortmund that they could only get Anselminoif they signed Chukwuemeka permanently instead of a loan deal. Anselmino has 'already said yes' to joining Dortmund on loan as Chelsea and Dortmund continue negotiations on a final price for Chukwuemeka. It is said that Chukwuemeka 'strongly wants' a move to Dortmund, where he would link up with fellow England youth international Jobe Bellingham. Chukwuemeka has made a total of 32 appearances for Chelsea since he joined the Blues from Aston Villa in a £20m deal two years ago. But he was deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge and now seems destined for a switch to the Westfalenstadion. More Trending Along with Juventus, West Ham and Napoli had also been linked with a move for Chukwuemeka before Dortmund entered advanced talks. Dortmund manager Niko Kovac is a huge fan of Chukwuemeka, who made 17 appearances on loan at the Bundesliga side last season. 'The way he takes the ball and carries it, the way he immediately turns in the direction of play, that is really unique,' Kovac said in February. 'He has very good acceleration and technique. The boy will give us joy, if he stays healthy.' German journalists press Pro7 investors not to sell to Berlusconi's MFE

BERLIN, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Germany's DJV journalists' association appealed on Thursday to investors in ProSiebenSat.1 ( opens new tab not to sell their shares to Italian suitor MFE, warning it could impose a "right-wing populist agenda" on the German media company. Owned by the family of late Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, MFE is courting ProSieben shareholders to sell over the next two weeks as it seeks to build a pan-European television company to compete with U.S. streaming giants. "It is in the hands of the shareholders to save jobs at the private broadcaster network and prevent a shift to the right," DJV head Mika Beuster said in a statement. "We need more journalism, not more agitation," he added. MFE declined to comment on the allegations of a right-wing populist agenda. ProSieben management gave up its resistance and advised shareholders to accept MFE's bid after it raised the offer earlier this month, but the Italians' move has caused some unease in Berlin. In comments to Reuters in July, German culture minister Wolfram Weimer said ProSieben's journalistic independence must be preserved. He planned to meet Italian media magnate Pier Silvio Berlusconi, the late politician's son, to discuss the issue. MFE said earlier this week it had managed to secure 43.6% of ProSieben shares by the end of the initial acceptance period for its tender offer, shy of a majority.
