French FA calls for online abuse investigation after Women's Euro exit
"The French Football Federation strongly condemns the hateful remarks made about certain players of the French team. Nothing can justify such manifestations of hatred," the governing body said in a statement on Wednesday.
"The FFF expresses its full support to all the players concerned and re-asserts its commitment to the values of respect and solidarity, which are the basis of our sport.
"The FFF has decided to immediately contact the National Center Against Online Hatred to allow for the opening of an investigation aimed at sanctioning criminal behaviour."
The FFF's call for action comes in the wake of England defender Jess Carter's withdrawal from social media over racial abuse she received online. France goalkeeper Pauline Peyeaud-Magnin posted about the abuse received by her teammates on Instagram.
"There's one thing even harder to accept than defeat: hatred," she wrote.
"We can be frustrated, we can be sad, we can even be angry. But hatred should never, ever have a place in this sport.
"Whether it's against a player on our team or an opponent: behind every jersey, there's a person ... thank you to those who continue to support us with kindness. We will rise again. Stronger. More united."

Ian Wright criticised Lauren Hemp 's decision making after the winger missed a golden chance to give England the lead in the first half of their Euro 2025 final with Spain. Hemp found herself with the first clear sight of goal for either side after good work by Lauren James helped hurry Spanish goalkeeper Catalina Coll and turnover possession in the box. Wright said it was a huge moment in the half. 'I think she has to pass that,' said Wright. 'If she does, [James] gets a tap-in. An unbelievable chance ... she has to cut that back to Lauren James.' Wright said England were 'off it' in the first period and lacked sharpness to match Spain.

Police in Spain arrest schoolboy for making AI nude images of classmates
Spanish police said on Sunday they were investigating a 17-year-old on suspicion of using artificial intelligence to deepfake nude images of female classmates for sale. Sixteen young women at an educational institute in Valencia, in southeastern Spain, complained about the AI-generated images of them which were circulating on social media and online. In December, a teenage girl complained to police that AI-generated video and faked photos resembling her "completely naked" were posted on a social media account started under her name. 'Photos of various people, all of them minors, appeared on this account. All these photos had been modified from the originals, which had been manipulated so that the people in them appeared completely naked,' the Spanish Civil Guard said in a statement on Sunday. A 17-year-old boy is under investigation for alleged corruption of minors. The Spanish government said in March said it would put forward a law to treat such deepfaked sexual imagery created by AI without consent as a crime but the bill has so far not been passed by parliament. In September 2023, Spain was shocked when 15 minors in Extremadura, in southwest Spain, were investigated for using AI to produce fake naked images of their female schoolmates. They were later sentenced to a year's probation.
