Each year, Meltdown chooses a different musical act to direct the festival's programme.
In February
, Mercury Prize-winning artist Little Simz was revealed as the curator of the 30th edition at London's Southbank Centre, which will take place from 12-22 June.
Last month, we already got an
impressive announcement of artists
including The Streets, MOBO Award-winning London-born rapper Ghetts and multi-award winning jazz pianist Jon Batiste - best known to many as the co-composer of the Oscar-winning score for Pixar's
Soul
.
Now, the already stacked line-up gets more names, with Grammy-nominated R&B singer Mahalia, who will play in the Royal Festival Hall on the first Friday night of the festival (13 June). Joining her on this year's ticket is queen of afrobeats and MTV EMA-winning Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage (Saturday 14 June); hip-hop and jazz melding legends BADBADNOTGOOD; and the acclaimed Ivor Novello and Mercury Prize Award-winning James Blake (20 June).

We're particularly excited about the inclusion of London-born saxophonist Nubya Garcia, who will play at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on 19 June (if you haven't heard her most recent album, 'Odyssey', it's a must-listen), and the presence of Illinois singer-songwriter Kara Jackson, whose 2023 album 'Why Does The Earth Give Us People To Love?' was an arresting and quite simply glorious storytelling gem.
Mark Ball, Artistic Director, Southbank Centre added: 'Hot on the heels of her brilliant line up for the first wave announcements, it's thrilling to see more global talent play alongside homegrown artists and to see Little Simz musical curiosity and imagination take full shape.'
Jane Beese, Head of Contemporary Music, Southbank Centre said: "Little Simz' first taste of what's to come from her Meltdown hugely embodies the wealth of influences and inspirations across her work. Ranging from jazz, hip hop, R&B, electronic and soul with a line up of both renowned legends alongside the creators of the future, this is going to be London's go-to festival this summer.'

As for Little Simz herself, she commented: 'My team and I have prepared eleven days of art, music, workshops and more. So many incredible artists have curated this festival so it's a true honour to be a part of it. Thank you to the Southbank Centre for having me. Meltdown 2025 the Simz way is going to be epic. I'll see you there.'
Little Simz
Thibaut Grevet
It's worth keeping in mind (we certainly haven't forgotten) that Little Simz will be releasing her sixth album 'Lotus' on 6 June.
Her first full-length album since the superb 'No Thank You' in 2022 and her
Mercury Prize-winning 2021 album
'Sometimes I Might Be Introvert', 'Lotus' was originally scheduled to be released on 9 May but was delayed "due to a scheduling of shooting a movie that just came in."
"Not ideal for me or you I know, trust me I've tried many ways around it but just means I can't do the film otherwise. If there was ever a time I ask for your grace and patience it is now."
Patience granted – but no more delays please, we're getting antsy here!
Here's the line-up for Little Simz' Meltdown:
The Streets - Thursday 12 June, Royal Festival Hall, 7pm
Mahalia - Friday 13 June, Royal Festival Hall, 7pm
Tiwa Savage - Saturday 14 June, Royal Festival Hall, 7pm

Dior to skip next Paris couture July season, as Maison Margiela and Iris van Herpen return

The house of Dior will sit out the next Paris couture catwalk season in July, even as and Iris van Herpen return to the runways in the French capital, according to a provisional calendar released Monday. See catwalk The decision by Dior is not unexpected, since the house only announced the appointment of new creative director Jonathan Anderson for menswear, womenswear, and haute couture earlier on Monday. Anderson will, however, make his runway debut for Dior this month, with a menswear runway show on the afternoon of June 27. Balenciaga will present the final collection by its departing creative director, Demna of Georgia, in July. His successor, Pierpaolo Piccioli, will stage his first show for Balenciaga during the Paris women's ready-to-wear season this fall. The next couture season will take place from Monday, July 7, to Thursday, July 10. It will kick off with a show by one of Paris' most legendary houses, Schiaparelli, and climax with a show by Rami Al Ali, a critically admired Syrian-born couturier. Known for his fresh take on classical couture gowns, Al Ali has dressed many stars and celebrities, including Beyoncé, Jennifer Lopez, Amal Clooney, Helen Mirren, Naomi Campbell, and Sharon Stone. All told, there are 25 couturiers listed on the haute couture calendar, including Chanel and Giorgio Armani, who will both stage two shows apiece. This will mark the last show staged by Chanel where no designer will take a bow, since the collection, like the last five presented by Chanel, will be designed by an in-house studio team. Chanel's new creative director, Matthieu Blazy, will make his debut in October during the next women's ready-to-wear season in Paris. See catwalk Though the season's most keenly anticipated debut will be Glenn Martens, who succeeds John Galliano at Maison Margiela—a tricky act to follow, seeing as the UK designer's January 2024 show under a bridge on the Seine was the single best couture show in Paris this decade. The season will also welcome back French couturier Adeline André and two guest houses, ArdAzAei and Robert Wun, according to a new calendar released by the Fédération de la Haute Couture et de la Mode, French fashion's governing body. Separately, the Fédération noted that two Paris fashion houses will stage runway shows on the eve of couture: Celine at 2:30 p.m. and Patou at 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 6. Despite the flurry of no-shows, studio-designed collections, and a clientele of fewer than 5,000 women, Paris haute couture remains the supreme example of creativity in fashion—the great laboratory de la mode. A busy week where the boulevards of the City of Light will be crammed with limousines ferrying the richest women in the world to the most reserved fashion shows on the planet.

Dior names Jonathan Anderson creative director of women's, men's, and haute couture collections

Dior has announced Jonathan Anderson as creative director of women's, men's, and haute couture collections, marking the first time in the brand's history that one designer has handled all three disciplines since the passing of its founder Christian Dior. 'Dior is thrilled to welcome Jonathan Anderson, a visionary creator with a remarkable career, as creative director of women's, men's, and haute couture collections of the House,' it said in a release Monday morning. The appointment of the Northern Ireland-born designer means that for the first time at Christian Dior Couture, since Monsieur Dior himself, a creative director will work on all the women's, men's, and haute couture collections, further strengthening its unified global creative vision. He succeeds the duo Maria Grazia Chiuri and Kim Jones, who respectively handled couture/womenswear, and menswear separately. 'I am delighted to welcome Jonathan Anderson to lead the women's and men's creations of the House. I have followed his career with great interest since he joined the LVMH group over 10 years ago. I am convinced that he will bring a creative and modern vision to our House, inspired by the fabulous story of Monsieur Dior and the codes he created. He will be supported by our teams and our incredible Ateliers who will bring his creativity to life,' said Delphine Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer of Christian Dior Couture. Anderson joins Dior after Loewe, one of nearly a dozen runway fashion houses controlled by LVMH, the giant French luxury conglomerate. 'Jonathan Anderson is one of the greatest creative talents of his generation. His incomparable artistic signature will be a crucial asset in writing the next chapter of the history of the House of Dior,' added Bernard Arnault, chairman and CEO of LVMH, and Delphine's father. Arnault senior had already revealed at LVMH's AGM that Anderson was taking over from Jones on menswear. Today's announcement had been widely expected for months. 'It is a great honor to join the House of Dior as creative director of both women's and men's collections. I have always been inspired by the rich history of this House, its depth, and empathy. I look forward to working alongside its legendary Ateliers to craft the next chapter of this incredible story. I would like to express my sincere thanks to Delphine Arnault and Bernard Arnault for their trust and loyalty over the years,' said Anderson. The 40-year-old will present his first collection, Dior Men Summer 2026, in Paris on June 27.

StockX names new creative head

U.S. resale platform StockX announced on Monday the appointment of Daniel De Jesus Krueger to the role of vice president and head of creative. In his new role, Krueger will lead the Michigan-based company's global creative direction, defining its brand ethos and its application through design, imagery, tone of voice, and overall storytelling, according to a press release. An award-winning creative director with a career that spans over a decade across culture, sports, and music, Krueger joins StockX from entertainment group Fulwell Entertainment (formerly The Springhill Company, founded by LeBron James and Maverick Carter), where he led creative, storytelling, and branding for "The Shop", the Emmy-nominated show co-created by Paul Rivera and Randy Mims. Prior to that, Krueger led The Nike Brand Studio at Uninterrupted — a media company founded in 2014 by LeBron James and Maverick Carter — and oversaw work across the LeBron and Kobe brands as well as Sabrina Ionescu campaigns. Before that, he served at Laundry Service (now Wasserman), where he led art direction for T-Mobile's partnership with MLB and helped launch House of Hoops, a collaboration between Foot Locker and Nike. During his career, the creative has also worked on projects with major athletes including Shaquem Griffin, Mal Swanson, Andrew McCutchen, Bianca Andreescu, Diamond DeShields, Arike Ogunbowale, Darius Garland, Dina Asher-Smith, Sam Kerr, Devin Booker, Kyrie Irving, and LeBron James, among others. 'Daniel's track record speaks for itself — he understands the power of brand storytelling and knows what it takes to get a project over the line without sacrificing creative integrity,' said Stock CMO, Nick Karrat. 'His passion for sneaker and streetwear communities and his deep work with influential voices in culture, sports, and music make him a perfect fit for the team. We're thrilled to have him on board for this next chapter of the StockX brand story.' For the role, Krueger wil travel regularly to the resale firm's headquarters in Detroit. "I've been fortunate to spend my career working with brands and people I genuinely believe in — and StockX is no exception. I've followed it from the start and watched it grow into a global force," said Krueger. "As a Chicago native, it's especially meaningful to help shape the next creative chapter of a Midwest-born brand. StockX sits at the intersection of sports, music, and entertainment — that kind of cultural relevance doesn't happen by accident, and being part of what's next is incredibly exciting." Krueger's appointment comes just six months after StockX's top management reshuffle which saw the company's CEO Scott Cutler step down, effective December 31. The former chief was replaced by Greg Schwartz, the platform's co-founder, and president and COO, at the time.
