The extended period of dryness will only exacerbate the ongoing drought condition across our area, First Alert Weather Meteorologist Trevor Gibbs said.
Here's what you can expect:
Mild temperatures to continue through early Thursday with highs around 80 degrees and lows in the 50s & 60s.
Warmer temperatures by Friday into Saturday with highs near 90 degrees.
We'll stay dry through Friday and most of Saturday, but an isolated shower or storm will develop late Saturday/Saturday evening
We will see widely scattered showers Sunday that will shift more inland through the day. Overall, any rain looks to be scattered and amounts are mostly minimal.

FIRST ALERT WEATHER: Stormy at times for Father's Day weekend

This weekend, the First Alert Weather Team is tracking rain and storms in the afternoon. Saturday morning, temperatures will be warm in the mid to upper 70s under partly cloudy skies. We return to the 90s once again Saturday, before showers and thunderstorms begin to develop by midday. Storm coverage will be greatest between Highway 301 and I-95 to the beaches Saturday afternoon and evening. Storm hazards will be very heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty winds. Slow storm motion could lead to areas of minor flooding. A similar pattern continues into Father's Day with mainly afternoon/evening showers and thunderstorms focused over the eastern half of our area. Heat builds into next week with daily highs rising into the mid-90s and feels like temperatures approaching 105°F. Take a look at our First Alert Weather 7-day forecast: SATURDAY: Partly cloudy and humid with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. HIGH: 91 SATURDAY NIGHT: A shower/storm early, then turning partly to mostly cloudy. LOW: 73 FATHER'S DAY: Partly cloudy with scattered afternoon thunderstorms. 73/92 MONDAY: Partly cloudy with widely scattered afternoon storms. 74/93 TUESDAY: Partly cloudy with a few afternoon storms. 74/93 WEDNESDAY: Partly to mostly sunny and hot with an isolated PM storm. 74/94 THURSDAY: Partly to mostly sunny and hot with an isolated PM storm. 75/95 FRIDAY: Partly cloudy with a few showers/storms.75/95 WATCH THE FORECAST | DOWNLOAD THE APPS ALLERGY TRACKER: See what the pollen counts look like in our area LISTEN: Mike Buresh 'All the Weather, All the Time' Podcast INTERACTIVE RADAR: Keep track of the rain as it moves through your neighborhood SHARE WITH US: Send us photos of the weather you're seeing in your area ⬇️

Afternoon Storms to Develop in Maryland Saturday

A few light showers started the day in western Maryland on Saturday. It's a quiet start to the day that doesn't look to end in the same way. Saturday is a possible WJZ Alert Day. The First Alert Weather team will be watching the risk for showers and storms to develop this afternoon, continuing into the evening. Similar to Friday, heavy rain is possible. Last night's storms produced multiple flash flood alerts in Maryland and with the ground still saturated, we could see more of the same on Saturday. Forecast models are calling for 1 inch to possibly 3 inches of rainfall here in Maryland (isolated areas could see up to 5 inches if heavy rain is slow to move out or tracks over a certain area multiple times). A few storms could be on the stronger side, producing gusty winds and possible small hail. Highs on Saturday will be cooler - around 80°. It'll be even cooler on Father's Day. Prepare for highs only in the upper 60s to low 70s Sunday afternoon. Sunday also brings its own rain chance. The upcoming work week doesn't look to completely dry out until maybe closer to AFRAM weekend.
