Galway see off Waterford in Tuam
A Kate Slevin first-half penalty laid the platform for Daniel Moynihan's charges as they went nine points clear but Lauren McGregor's strike early in the second period breathed new life in the Deise challenge.
Galway got off to the perfect start, with Eva Noone pointing after 45 seconds. And the hosts followed that up with three more for Olivia Divilly, Ailbhe Davoren and a Slevin free.
The Tribeswomen created their best chance when Chellene Trill blasted wide on 10 minutes.
Galway got their goal just two minutes later after Davoren fed Slevin. The Claregalway forward found Eva Noone, who won a penalty which Slevin converted.
Galway were 1-04 to 0-00 clear but Waterford nearly made a breakthrough when Chloe Fennell and Áine O'Neill were denied by a double-save from keeper Dearbhla Gower and Bronagh Quinn.
McGregor put the rebound over before Divilly restored Galway's seven-point cushion.
The sides shared the next four white flags before the break, leaving it 1-07 to 0-03 at half-time.
Galway maintained the momentum after the restart, with Divilly adding two points. But McGregor and Bríd McMaugh reduced arrears to 1-09 to 0-05 on 34 minutes.
Galway pulled 1-12 to 0-06 clear as Slevin (2) and Davoren tallied against McGregor's sole response.
The latter brought Waterford back to life when she struck her seventh goal of the championship after good play down the middle through Hannah Power and Aileen Wall.
Waterford put Galway on the back foot as points for McMaugh (2) and McGregor left the Munster finalists just 1-14 to 1-09 behind.
Eva Noone and Slevin got the Galway minors but two more added through Divilly and Slevin restored a seven point cushion on 51 minutes.
After McGregor added a Waterford free, substitute Roisin Leonard landed two between the posts to effectively secure Galway's semi-final date with Dublin.
Waterford finished with McMaugh and McGregor picking off points but it was just too late.

Síofra O'Shea shines as Kerry see off Kildare
A brace of first-half goals from hat-trick hero Síofra O'Shea played a major part in Kerry's 3-12 to 0-11 victory over Kildare in the TG4 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final at Austin Stack Park. Even though the Lilywhites got off to a very strong start, notching four points in the opening nine minutes to take the early ascendancy, the concession of the two green flags before the break was a hammer blow to the visitors. With Alannah Prizeman (two frees), Aoife Rattigan and Gillian Wheeler all finding the target for the Leinster side, the Kingdom were slower out of the blocks before they struck for their first goal in the 10th minute. A cross-field kick from Niamh Carmody, and a pass from Cáit Lynch slipped advancing centre-back Emma Costello through the Kildare defence, and after her shot was parried by goalkeeper Mary Hulgraine, O'Shea was on hand to tap home the rebound. Danielle O'Leary was now getting into her stride, and the Rathmore attacker fired over two points, with a Rachel Dwyer effort sandwiched in between. Ciara Wheeler and Prizeman responded at the other end and the score was level after 22 minutes at 1-03 to 0-06. The Kingdom edged in front before the half's most crucial moment in the 24th minute when Niamh Ní Chonchúir set up O'Shea inside the Kildare cover and, after being fouled while in the act of shooting by Lauren Murtagh, a penalty was awarded. The Kerry full-forward picked herself up off the ground to beat the visiting custodian with a low spot-kick to the keeper's right and, despite Prizeman's trojan work, a superb Anna Galvin point had the defending champions four up at the break at 2-05 to 0-07. Kildare needed a boost early on the resumption, but Prizeman had a goalbound shot blocked on the line by Kerry captain Lynch, before Kerry, and O'Shea, pounced for green flag number three in the 39th minute to end the game as a contest. Midfielder Galvin was the instigator, fetching a kick-out and sending a pinpoint delivery to O'Shea, who gave Hulgraine no mistake. From there to the finish, the hosts were always in control, eventually cruising home by a 10-point margin to set up a last-four meeting with either Meath or Tipperary. TG4 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final: Kerry 3-11 Kildare 0-12 The 2024 All-Ireland Champions Kerry are through to their fourth consecutive semi-final but they had to withstand a gutsy challenge from the 2023 All-Ireland Intermediate champions Kildare at the Austin Stack park in this TG4 All-Ireland SFC quarter-final. Kildare gave the Kingdom a proper gut check in the opening quarter as they had the aid of a strong wind. The visitors served notice that they meant business as they raced 0-4 to 0-0 in front inside the opening eight minutes. Lisa Shaw and Lauren Murtagh were driving forward and had points from Alannah Prizeman (free), Aoife Rattigan, Gillian Wheeler and Prizeman with another free after Ciara Moran was fouled. Kerry finished the half the stronger with some superb movement and accurate kick passing as Danielle O'Leary made it 1-4 to 0-6. Then in the 25th minute Kerry were awarded a penalty when Siofra O'Shea was fouled and O'Shea sent the keeper the wrong way. Prizeman responded with a fine effort from play but Kerry, thanks to an Anna Galvin point, retired 2-5 to 0-7 in front at the interval. Kildare began the second half as if they were going to wipe out the deficit in double quick time when Prizeman beat the Kerry keeper, but Cait Lynch took it off the line. Alannah Prizeman was proving a handful for the Kerry fullback line but she was getting very little help. Kerry, who ended up with eight different scorers, were much more potent in attack. Points followed from O'Leary, Carmody and O'Shea before the home side ended the game as a contest in the 40th minute when Anna Galvin set up Siofra O'Shea to complete her hat-trick. It was now 3-8 to 0-8 and though Prizeman added three frees, Kerry rounded off a 10-point win with points from Katie Brosnan, O'Shea, Niamh Ni Choncúir and Caoimhe Evans.
