UAE: Want to study abroad? How citizens can check if foreign university meets new criteria

The UAE government has put forth certain criteria for Emirati students pursuing higher education in universities abroad. UAE nationals seeking admissions abroad for Diploma, Higher Diploma, Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate, or their equivalent professional qualifications, can check the institution's eligibility, as per the classifications laid down by the Ministry of Education. The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research provides a detailed review of the selected programme and university, and issues an official document confirming the accreditation status of the university and academic programme, after the review is completed. Steps to check if your desired institute fulfills the criteria: Go on the 'Information Service about Academic Programs Abroad for UAE Nationals' page on their website, and click "Start New Application." Select 'Inquiry About Academic Programme'. Enter the details of the university and academic programme you wish to inquire about. Upload the required documents. Click 'Submit' to send your application for review and verification. You may be contacted to provide additional documents to support the review process. Refer to the official document to confirm the accreditation status of the university. The service requires an expert review, which may take up to five business days. If the required additional documents are not submitted within 7 days of receiving the application, the request will be closed. If your application has been rejected, or if you would wish to study at a university that is not listed among the approved institutions, you may submit an exception/reconsideration request. The required documents may vary depending on the selected university, country of study, and your educational background, however, the following documents are typically requested — your Emirates ID and passport copy, showing the unified number. Along with enhancing career-readiness, the criteria have been laid down by the government to regulate international scholarship options in accordance with UAE's aspirations. The criteria are as follows:

Qatar: Land transport sector transactions increase 4.8% to 2,992 in Q2

DOHA: The land transport sector has become a key enabler of Qatar's economy, as the country continues its efforts to develop a state-of-the-art transport network in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030. Qatar witnessed over 2,900 transactions through its Land Transport Sector in the second quarter (Q2) of this year, which shows the robust growth in the sector. In a post on its social media handle, the Ministry of Transport (MoT) revealed that 2,992 transactions were conducted through its land transport sector in the second quarter (April-June) of 2025. This shows a quarterly increase of 4.79 percent compared to the first quarter of this year, which witnessed 2,835 land transport transactions. Meanwhile, the transactions also saw a slight rise of 0.71 percent on a year-on-year basis compared to the second quarter of last year. Out of the total 2,992 transactions, 907 dealt with land transport planning, 822 with public transport affairs, 805 were related to road affairs, and 458 were land transport licensing transactions. The main services of the land transport sector include railway safety, bus stop relocations, bus service, road defects detection, safety on roads, directional signs, building permit requests, traffic impact studies, and approval of land transport network planning cases. The services also include issuing preliminary approvals for limousine business activities, land transport activities, and car rental business activities. The Transportation Master Plan for Qatar-2050 works as a roadmap for investing in land transportation infrastructure. It identifies the frameworks and future orientations for developing the transportation networks nationwide in a way that ensures their integration with land uses, urban development, population growth and meeting the future demand for transportation. Sustainability is the cornerstone of this plan, given the great impact this concept has on economic and environmental development, by striking a balance between the requirements of economic growth and environmental protection. © Dar Al Sharq Press, Printing and Distribution. Morocco launches phase 3 of motorway project

Morocco's Ministry of Equipment and Water has launched the construction works for the third phase of the expressway connecting the Northern Fez city to the nearby Taounate, with a total budget of around 324 million Moroccan dirhams ($36 million). Minister Nizar Baraka launched the 19-km road project on Tuesday during his visit to the province of Taounate to assess the progress of the project. The overall project covers 73 kilometres, involving a total budget of MAD 1.56 billion ($173.4 million), according to local newspapers. Baraka said the project will significantly reduce travel time between Fez and Taounate, improving road safety and reducing traffic accidents along this key route. Baraka also reviewed a series of road projects that have been completed or are under construction, and those planned in the province of Taounate. For these projects, MAD 380 million ($42.2 million) was put towards the construction and engineering of the expressway, MAD 302 million ($33.5 million) went towards reducing regional disparities, and MAD 82 million ($9 million) went towards maintenance, widening, and reinforcing the road infrastructure.
