Cristy Fermin, co-accused post bail for cyber libel case
Cristy Fermin has posted bail after a warrant of arrest was issued against her and two others over Bea Alonzo's cyber libel complaint. According to a report on "Balitanghali" on Friday, Fermin and Wendell Alvarez have been granted bail, while Rommel Villamor is still arranging to post bail at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 93. Fermin said that the warrant has been out since July 21, but they only received it on July 30. She added that she would have voluntarily surrendered had there been no delay with the documents. Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, the legal counsel of Fermin and her co-accused, told GMA News Online that, "We are now preparing for her defense." The bail was set at P48,000 each for Fermin, Villamor, and Alvarez, with the charges stemming from alleged defamatory statements made against Alonzo. According to an earlier by Aubrey Carampel, Alonzo's lawyer Atty. Joey Garcia said that the development of the case proves the actress's right to file a complaint. 'We have always stood firm in the merits of our client's case. This development vindicates her position and affirms her right to seek redress,' Garcia said in a statement. "This is not only an initial legal victory for Ms. Alonzo but a statement of principle, free speech does not mean freedom to defame. The law draws a clear line and that line has been crossed," he added. In May 2024, Alonzo filed a cyber libel complaint against Fermin, Ogie Diaz, and their co-hosts on their respective programs. A place for retired partygoers: This supper club in BGC wraps up at 2 a.m.
This one's for the ageing millennials who want a peaceful dinner and drinks session while embracing a high-energy atmosphere. Medusa, the first supper club in Bonifacio Global City, has officially opened its doors at The Palace Manila in Uptown Bonifacio in Taguig. The concept offers a fresh take on nightlife: blending elevated dining, curated drinks, and vibrant music all in one space that opens at 6 p.m. and shuts down at 2 a.m., perfect for those who love to go out but no longer want to stay out until sunrise. Medusa's premise is simple: come in for dinner, stay for cocktails, and end the night without overextending yourself. "We can eat and drink at the same place and have a full night out in one particular location," Erwan Heussaff, one of Medusa's industry partners, said during the media preview. Inside, Medusa features Art Deco interiors with layered tropical accents. The menu, on the other hand, is led by internationally trained chefs Lisa Revilla and David Thien Chow Kang, who bring their experience from Michelin-starred kitchens and top restaurants across Asia and Europe. The menu, according to Erwan, has "everything you look for when you want to have dinner" with friends and loved ones. Starting with small plates and salads: Crispy Salmon Sushi (P550), Smoked Eggplant and Tomato Salad (P650), and Lobster Roll (P1,100), among others. For the mains, there's Norwegian Salmon (P1,200), Miso Black Cod (P1,350), Fennel Pork Chop (P1,950), Angus Ribeye (P3,500), Cauliflower and Parmesan (P650), and a wide selection of pasta plates. If you're dining with a big group, there are also dishes meant for sharing, including the Chicken Wellington (P2,400) and Roasted Lamb Rack (P6,000), which you can pair with side dishes of Angus Steak Rice (P600), Truffle Fries (P450), or Truffle Mac & Cheese (P790), to name a few. For those who don't skip desserts, you may choose from Basque Brulee Cheesecake (P390), Chocolate Lava Cake (P590), and Eton Mess Sundae (P590). As for the supper club's signature cocktails, it offers Medusa Gin & Tonic (P780), Gorgonette Gin (P550), and The Priestess Vodka (P590), among others. ‘Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre': Pirena and Terra finally cross paths
Pirena (Glaiza De Castro) and Terra (Bianca Umali) have finally crossed paths. Thursday's episode of 'Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre' showed the very first face-to-face encounter of the two, which unfolded in the middle of a chaotic scene at the local wet market, where Terra had been helping her Nanay Mona (Manilyn Reynes) sell fish. When a heated argument broke out between a vendor and a customer, Terra had to spring into action, disappearing briefly, only to return in her superhero guise as the mysterious 'Sang'gre.' Intent on de-escalating the situation, Terra offered to talk things out, but the angry man, Victor, chose violence over dialogue. The fight was brief. Terra easily bested him, showing off the strength and skill that set her apart from any ordinary mortal. Nearby, Pirena, who has been tirelessly searching the human world for her long-lost niece, caught wind of the commotion and followed the crowd. That's when it happened: the two finally laid eyes on each other for the first time, but neither knew who the other truly was. Pirena, stunned by the young woman's display of power, stepped forward and asked simply, 'Sino ka?' Before Terra could respond, the authorities arrived at the scene. Not wanting to risk exposure, Terra fled, leaving Pirena with nothing but questions and a growing suspicion that the girl she just saw might not be just any other hero. "Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre" airs on GMA Network from Mondays to Fridays at 8 p.m. after "24 Oras."
