'We Want Early Justice': Air India Crash Victim's Son Sues Boeing In US Court
Hir Prajapati, who lost his mother, Kalpana Ben Prajapati, in the June 12 Air India crash, has filed a lawsuit against Boeing in a US federal court, seeking a faster resolution than he believes the Indian legal system can deliver.
Speaking to ANI, Prajapati said his family has engaged US-based aviation lawyer Mike Andrews to represent them. 'We have hired Mike Andrews. We expect the raw details of information from the black box to come before us at the earliest so that we can decide our next steps along with our lawyer. In India, trials get dragged out for years. We are fighting the case in the US so that a decision is pronounced early," he said.
Prajapati thanked the Indian government, police, and doctors for their assistance in the aftermath of the tragedy. 'We believe we will get justice. When the incident happened, the government helped us a lot. The police also helped us. We are thankful to the doctors too, who handed over the bodies to us after a swift DNA test," he said.
He also recounted how his mother's travel plans had changed several times before she boarded the ill-fated flight. 'I had initially booked a June 9 flight for her, but she had a fast that day. So, I rescheduled it to June 11. Then she told me she didn't want to travel on an odd date. I finally booked her ticket for June 12," he said.
On Monday evening, families of the victims held a candlelight vigil to mark two months since the disaster. Andrews, who represents more than 65 victim families, attended the remembrance. 'Today marks the two-month anniversary of this tragedy. It has been a very difficult day for everyone involved. The families organised a candlelight vigil to stand in remembrance… The families are back now, searching for answers," he told ANI.

Ireland Great Condemns Racially-Motivated Attacks On Indians, Shares Heartfelt Message
Former 'Green and Whites' cricketer Kevin O'Brien has condemned the concerning increase in racially-motivated attacks on Indians in Ireland. Ireland has witnessed a sudden spike in racist, and other hate-filled attacks against the Indians over the past few years. Currently, Ireland has a 60,000-strong Indian community. An Indian man was attacked last Sunday by a group of teenagers, three to be precise, in the evening around 5:30 pm at the Fairview Park in Dublin. Since then, the Indian embassy in Dublin and Irish President Michael D Higgins have come out in support of the members of the Indian community and called such incidents "despicable". Former Ireland all-rounder Kevin O'Brien has also issued a video message, saying that he has a special place for India in his heart, and that Ireland is their home too. "I want to say how deeply saddened I am by the recent racist and hateful acts against Indians in Ireland. These attacks do not represent who we are as a people. India and its people hold a very special place in my heart," O'Brien said in a video posted by him on X. Please listen!! @KellyinDelhi @IrlEmbIndia — Kevin O'Brien (@KevinOBrien113) August 12, 2025 O'Brien re-iterated the contribution of Indians in shaping the Irish society. "I want to reiterate to the Indian community that Ireland is your home too. Your contribution to Irish society is immense, and we deeply value everything you do," he added. This comes after the Indian man, who was attacked by a group of teenagers on Sunday, said that he planned to go back to India as a result of this incident. He told The Journal that while walking home from the park, one of the teenagers on an electric scooter kicked him in the stomach. Although he tried to walk away, two others started attacking him. He fell on the ground while they continued to kick and punch him. One of the attackers took his metal water bottle and hit him above his eye, which caused a deep gash and resulted in heavy bleeding. The victim said that people did not help him despite being around during the incident. Later on, two boys helped him and called the gardai. Thereafter, he was taken to the hospital where he received eight stitches.

UP: Fatehpur administration impose restrictions, bans gatherings, protests
Last Updated: Kanpur (UP), Aug 14 (PTI) The Fatehpur district administration has imposed strict prohibitory orders banning all gatherings, processions, and protests in connection with a disputed mausoleum, officials said on Thursday. The move comes as authorities act on intelligence inputs of a planned mobilization on August 16, which coincides with Janmashtami celebrations, they said. The heightened security and preemptive measures follow a recent incident where right-wing groups stormed the premises on Monday, damaging graves and claiming the site to be a Hindu temple. The entire area is now under constant surveillance, with entry restricted to all but security personnel. The vandalized portions of the mausoleum have already been repaired. In the wake of Monday's violence, Superintendent of Police (SP) Anoop Kumar Singh confirmed that 160 people, including 10 named individuals, were booked for damaging public property and disturbing the peace. Additional police forces from neighbouring Kaushambi and Prayagraj districts have been deployed to the area, and a flag march was conducted on Monday to reassure residents. The administration has sealed the area within a one-kilometer radius with multiple police barricades. Heavy police deployment, including Quick Response Teams (QRTs), along with drone and CCTV surveillance, is being used to maintain an airtight security cordon until after Janmashtami, officials said. Officials have appealed to residents to maintain communal harmony and pursue their grievances through legal channels rather than street action. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak had previously stated that the government has taken the incident seriously and the guilty will not be spared. SC Raps Actor Darshan Over VIP Jail Treatment, Says It Shows 'His Capacity To Defy System'
In Darshan's case, the court said, his popularity and connections raised serious concerns about potential obstruction The Supreme Court on Thursday slammed Kannada actor Darshan and strongly condemned the conduct of jailed celebrities, raising concerns about VIP treatment in prisons and the misuse of influence. The top court rejected Darshan's bail plea in the Renukaswamy murder case, citing his celebrity status, past behaviour, and the potential threat to the fairness of the trial. 'Darshan enjoys celebrity status, a mass following, political clout, and financial power. His conduct inside the jail – including recorded instances of VIP treatment, violations of jail rules, and registered FIRs for misuse of facilities – reflects his capacity to defy the system even while in custody," the court said. While turning down his plea for bail, the bench stated 'granting leniency to such persons despite grave charges of conspiracy and murder, sends wrong message to society and undermines public confidence in the justice system." The court further observed that 'influence, resources and social status cannot form a basis for granting bail where there is a genuine risk of prejudice to the investigation or trial." In Darshan's case, the court said, his popularity and connections raised serious concerns about potential obstruction. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
