National Licence application deadline for clubs extended to May 10
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Football League (MFL) today explained the decision of the independent First Instance Body (FIB) to extend the National Licence application period in accordance with the provisions outlined in the MFL Club Licensing Regulations 2024/2025 season.
In a statement today, the MFL informed that the FIB committee appreciates the commitment of clubs that have completed the document submission process in the AFC CLAS (Club Licensing Administration System) licensing system before or on the original deadline of April 30.
However, the governing body of the Malaysian League (Liga-M) clarified that, following written requests from several clubs, the FIB has granted an extension of the deadline to May 10.
'The decision for this extension was made based on the authority granted to FIB under the MFL Club Licensing Regulations 2024, Article 7, 8(a).
'With this extension, MFL hopes that the clubs involved can upload their documents no later than the new deadline, which is before or by (or on) May 10, 2025,' the statement read.
According to MFL, Article 7, 8(a) of the 2024 MFL Club Licensing Regulations states that 'The decision-making bodies must operate according to the principles of natural justice and must, at a minimum, regulate the following standards: deadlines (e.g. submission deadline, etc.);' while also considering the specific circumstances of each application and case submitted.
Last Wednesday, the FIB agreed to grant clubs additional time to complete all required documents for the 2024/2025 Club Licensing Cycle for the National Licence within the AFC CLAS licensing system.

It's A1 Semi-Pro League for Perak FA next season
THE Perak Football Association (Perak FA) have confirmed that they will join the A1 Semi-Pro League, which is expected to kick off this August. The announcement was made by its president Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin in a statement on Perak FA's official Facebook page today, following a meeting with Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, yesterday. 'This includes the restructuring of teams for the 2026 President's Cup and Youth Cup, focusing on the development of the SUKMA team, in addition to organising state-level leagues such as Liga Perak Sejahtera 2030, the State Amateur Club League, the IPTA/IPTS Perak League, and the District Integrity League (Under-17),' he said. He expressed hope that these efforts would contribute towards restoring the glory of Perak football. On May 22, Amateur Football League (AFL) chairman, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi welcomed the participation of Perak FA and Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) in the A1 League following both teams' failure to obtain a National Licence to compete in the Super League next season.

Great Scot! DPMM FC back in Super league and targeting top six finish
WITH a Scotsman in charge, Brunei club DPMM FC have promised fierce competition by boldly targeting a top-six finish in the 2025/2026 Super League season, which begins in August. DPMM FC general manager Md Ali Momin said discussions are underway to ensure the team, under the leadership of head coach James McAllister of Scotland, are well-prepared, including the signing of Malaysian footballers. He said so far, based on the plan, the club will register about seven imports and 15 Brunei players. 'With the agreement of the Malaysian Football League (MFL), Malaysian players can feature for Brunei (as local players), which is an advantage. 'There may be some key positions that we need to fill, perhaps two or three (Malaysian) players that we must secure,' he told a press conference after the signing ceremony of DPMM FC's participation agreement in the 2025-2028 Malaysia League (M-League) here today. Also present were MFL president Datuk Ab Ghani Hassan, MFL acting chief executive officer Mohd Shazli Shaik Mohd and FIFA (International Football Federation) Council member Tan Sri Hamidin Mohd Amin. Md Ali said DPMM FC are excited to compete in the M-League which has a big brand and a large fan base in the country. 'We will try to compete with the likes of Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) and Selangor, maybe in the beginning we will struggle a little, because we have long left the M-League, (however) we will try to give fierce competition to all the clubs (in the league),' he said. As such, he hopes that the quality of players could be further improved and the bilateral relationship between the two countries strengthened through DPMM FC's participation in the M-League. 'For the MFL, the presence of DPMM FC is an added value to the M-League and all local fans are aware of the football history that Brunei has etched. According to MFL, the club is no stranger to local football competitions and once participated in the Malaysia Cup in 1979 before joining the Semi-Pro League in 1989. The team also won the 1999 Malaysia Cup after beating Sarawak 2-1 at the Merdeka Stadium and finished third in the 2005-2006 Super League.
