It's A1 Semi-Pro League for Perak FA next season
THE Perak Football Association (Perak FA) have confirmed that they will join the A1 Semi-Pro League, which is expected to kick off this August.
The announcement was made by its president Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin in a statement on Perak FA's official Facebook page today, following a meeting with Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad, yesterday.
He said the Bos Gaurus line-up will consist of players from the Perak Malaysia Games (SUKMA) squad as well as several senior players who previously played in the Super League.
'The Menteri Besar also expressed strong support for Perak FA's efforts to rebuild from the ground up and to provide opportunities for young local talents to shine on a bigger stage.
'He also advised us to start with a solid, well-organised foundation, centred on the development of homegrown talents,' he said.
Mohd Azhar said that besides competing in the A1 Semi-Pro League, the association will also focus on rebuilding the state's youth and feeder teams, as well as grassroots-level competitions.
'This includes the restructuring of teams for the 2026 President's Cup and Youth Cup, focusing on the development of the SUKMA team, in addition to organising state-level leagues such as Liga Perak Sejahtera 2030, the State Amateur Club League, the IPTA/IPTS Perak League, and the District Integrity League (Under-17),' he said.
He expressed hope that these efforts would contribute towards restoring the glory of Perak football.
On May 22, Amateur Football League (AFL) chairman, Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi welcomed the participation of Perak FA and Kedah Darul Aman FC (KDA FC) in the A1 League following both teams' failure to obtain a National Licence to compete in the Super League next season.

The state Women, Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Minister announced that the 13-member team of para-athletes and officials will visit Berlin from June 16 to 25 in a collaboration between Sarawak and Germany. The athletes include Para Malaysia Games (Sukma) gold medallists in throwing and running events, she said at a press conference on Thursday (June 5). "They will meet with a Paralympic sports association, sports psychologist, and nutritionist to gain useful tips and undergo training sessions. "There will also be a career talk focusing on their future after athletics," Fatimah said. The team will visit the Paralympic Sports Centre in Cottbus, Brandenburg, to gain insight into the setup there. The trip will allow the para-athletes to train with German coaches and be assessed on their strengths and weaknesses, while Sarawak coaches will collaborate with their German counterparts. Additionally, the athletes will participate in a German regional para-athletics championship to gain exposure and experience. "We hope the athletes will benefit from the trip and improve their performance through this exposure and training," Fatimah said. The para-athletics team is a major component of Sarawak's Para Sukma team. At the last Para Sukma held in Kuching last year, the Sarawak para-athletics team won 33 gold, 24 silver, and 37 bronze medals. The team has continued training since November last year and recently excelled in the Para-Athletics Borneo Circuit, securing 53 gold, 36 silver, and 15 bronze medals. The Sarawak para-athletics team will compete in the National Para-Athletics Championship in Kuantan, Pahang, from June 26 to 29, which will select athletes for the upcoming 13th Asean Para Games in Thailand in January next year.

Perak vape ban decision pending further talks, says MB
IPOH: A decision on whether to ban vape products in Perak has yet to be made pending further discussions, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad. While the state executive council meeting briefly raised the matter, the Perak Mentri Besar said a more in-depth review is still required. 'A study needs to be conducted before any firm decision can be made. 'I have spoken to the state health committee chairman A. 'So any move to regulate or ban vape sales must take into account both health implications and economic effects on traders.' Saarani said with Sivanesan tasked with reviewing the matter from both a health and business impact perspective, a final decision will be made once all considerations are fully explored. 'I hope the matter will be tabled at the exco meeting as soon as possible,' he said. Earlier on at the event, Saarani said the state marked a new milestone with the launch of two strategic plans aimed at transforming Perak into an inclusive, sustainable and competitive smart state driven by the digital economy. The Perak Digital Economy Action Plan 2030 and the Perak State Smart City Blueprint 2040, Saarani said, are designed to strengthen digital infrastructure, empower human capital, and stimulate innovation and technology investment. He said the simultaneous launch of both plans marks a key step towards building a more efficient, resilient and high-quality urban environment, with a positive impact on Perak's socio-economic development. 'We are now in an era of rapid digital transformation, and if we act too slowly, we will be left behind. That is why the digital economy agenda has been identified as one of the nine main agendas under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 Plan. 'Our goal is clear: to build an inclusive, resilient and sustainable economy.'

Perak needs further study on use of vapes, e-cigarettes

Menteri besar Saarani Mohamad said this was discussed at a recent state executive council meeting, but further study is needed before a decision can be made. He said state human resources, health, Indian community affairs and integration committee chairman A Sivanesan has been tasked with leading the review. 'I've spoken to Sivanesan as this requires a thorough health assessment. However, we must also consider other factors,' he said at a press conference after launching the Perak Digital Economy Action Plan 2030 and Perak Smart Cities Blueprint 2040 today.
