Stefanie Sun performs to 50,000 fans at the Bird's Nest
18 Jun - Stefanie Sun recently kicked off the Beijing leg of her "Aut Nihilo" concert tour at the National Stadium (aka the Bird's Nest), where she performed to the tune of 50,000 fans.
Performing at the venue for the first time in her 25 years of career, Stefanie is also only the fourth female singer to have ever been granted the chance to hold a solo concert at the iconic location.
The concert also saw the attendance of stars like Michelle Chen, Chen Linong, Zhou Dongyu and many more, with the former writing, "I wanted to cry as soon as you came on stage. After all, you have carried my youth for so many years. Fortunately, there were fast songs, so I only cried for half of the show."
It was understood that the concert was directed by Stefanie's music partner and music director Kenn C, and that the Singaporean singer herself participated in the whole process, from conception and arrangement to stage design.
Stefanie also expressed her thoughts about performing at the iconic venue, writing, "It is hard for me to describe the experience of singing in the Bird's Nest. The sound in the venue was very consistent and surrounded me on the stage like waves. This is the moment when the singer is overwhelmed by the audience."
"People outside the venue listened to the concert comfortably, drinking tea and eating snacks. They sang along warmly, occasionally shouting and humming. Though beyond my line of sight, we were all connected in that moment."
Stefanie said that watching the videos from the concert was like someone was cutting onions next to her.
Her next performance would be in Qingdao.

"Silk and the Silk Road" Exhibition from China National Silk Museum Debuts in Kazakhstan
HANGZHOU, China, June 18, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In a vibrant celebration of cultural exchange, the "Silk and the Silk Road: From China to Kazakhstan" exhibition opened at the National Museum of Kazakhstan on June 16. This flagship event of Kazakhstan's "China Tourism Year" coincides with the second China-Central Asia Summit, marking a significant new chapter in cross-cultural dialogue. The opening ceremony wooed attendees with a fusion of Chinese and Kazakh artistic traditions – from the timeless melody of "High Mountains and Flowing Water" on the Guqin (traditional Chinese musical instrument) to the energetic Kazakh dance. A showstopping fashion presentation featured models in exquisite Hanfu (traditional Chinese dress) alongside Kazakh national costumes, creating a visual dialogue across centuries. Highlights of the exhibition include 145 rare artifacts tracing 2,000 years of silk history, three immersive sections: The Birth of Silk, Routes That Changed the World, and Silk in Daily Life. Star exhibits feature 8th-century textiles that showcase extraordinary craftsmanship, adorned with motifs reflecting the rich cultural fusion along the ancient trade routes. Visitors can also experience living traditions through "Beyond the Mulberry Fields: China Sericulture Intangible Cultural Heritages" – interactive demonstrations of UNESCO-listed silk techniques like kesi (silk tapestry) and intricate embroidery by master artisans. Beyond the gallery, scholars from both nations are convening to discuss the preservation of textile heritage, while Hanfu cultural activities bring ancient fashions to life across Astana. The exhibition forms part of China National Silk Museum's Global Showcase programme, with previous shows from seven countries including among others, France, Hungary and Uzbekistan. "These silks are more than artifacts – they're threads connecting our shared history," remarked Zhang Chengming, the museum deputy director during the opening. The exhibition runs through August 8, offering visitors a rare opportunity to witness the enduring legacy of the Silk Roads. Liu Yuning denies starring in "The Island of Siliang"
18 Jun - Liu Yuning is quick when it comes to responding to rumours about his casting, including the most recent one, when rumours circulated that he will play a big role in the upcoming series, "The Island of Siliang". On 14 June, amid the heated debate about his participation in the project, the actor posted a Polaroid picture of himself on Weibo and wrote, "I have never received a script. Haha." The response seemed to confirm Liu's previous stance on not letting his name be used by "slippers" to gain publicity for their project. The term refers to production crews that will "slip" false information about casting in order to drum up support for their actual lead actors. The actor once revealed in a livestream with fans that he has been a victim of production crews multiple times. "Some production crew member will announce that I will play the role, wait for the haters to slam me, and finally announce someone else in the role by saying that they have found a "more suitable candidate," he said. The same thing had happened to him multiple times, including for the drama "Ya She" in 2023 and "The World of Flowers" in 2025, the latter that had caused unnecessary fan war between his fans and lead actress Ju Jingyi's fans.
