A 38-year-old North Bay woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery at a Lakeshore-area business last week.
The North Bay Police Service announced the arrest in a news release Monday, detailing multiple charges against the local woman, including robbery, assault, uttering threats, obstructing police and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
The incident
The alleged incident occurred on Aug. 8, when the accused entered a business and attempted to steal merchandise. Police say she assaulted an employee who confronted her before leaving the premises.
'As she left the premises, she approached a second victim, uttered threats before fleeing the scene,' the police said in the release.
Officers located and arrested the suspect nearby, but she initially provided a false identity.
Outstanding warrants discovered
Following further investigation, police confirmed the woman's true identity and executed three outstanding arrest warrants against her.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
A public reminder to report suspicious activity
Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any criminal activity. In emergencies, the public should call 911, while non-emergency matters can be directed to North Bay Police Service's non-emergency line at (705) 472-1234 or anonymous tips can also be submitted through Crime Stoppers.
