‘Still standing': Local Ukrainian community gathers in prayer on eve of Russian invasion anniversary

PARMA, Ohio (WJW) – The Ukrainian community of greater Cleveland gathered in prayer Sunday night at St. Andrew Ukrainian Catholic Church in Parma.
The service was led by Bishop Bohdan Danylo, who told Fox 8 his message was one of hope on the eve of the third anniversary of Russia invading Ukraine.
President Trump calls Zelenskyy a 'dictator' in social media post
'All the communities across the world are reminding the world that Ukraine is still standing. Ukraine is fighting, but Ukraine is with hope,' Danylo said.
As talks of a potential peace deal continue, Bishop Danylo believes a better tomorrow is coming, but he wants a peace deal to reflect the fact that Russia began the conflict by invading Ukraine.
He said the people of his country, which he's visited around a dozen times since the conflict began, are tired after three years of air strikes, gunfire, and having to seek safe shelters constantly.
'I'm a man of faith. I hope we'll be good. It's not late. We are still in a time of preparation of the peace deal, but the most important thing is that peace will be, as I mentioned, just and built on truth because only peace built on truth and justice can sustain time,' he explained.
Additionally, Danylo took time to mention the thousands of Ukrainians who found a home in Northeast Ohio after fleeing the war.

'Northeast Ohio became one of the larger centers and it's thanks to our community, both Ukrainian, but especially the loving community of Northeast Ohio. We are neighbors to a lot of them, and they found work. They found a place to raise their family. You all know, Ohio is a beautiful place to raise families,' Danylo said.

Zelenskyy considers Serbian president's visit important, as he witnessed war firsthand

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that the first visit of his Serbian counterpart, Aleksandar Vučić to Ukraine is important because he has seen the war firsthand. Source: Zelenskyy on X (Twitter), as reported by European Pravda Details: On the evening of Wednesday 11 June, Zelenskyy spoke about his conversation with Vučić, who visited Odesa and attended the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit. "This is the [Serbian] President's first visit to Ukraine, and it is truly important to be here in Ukraine and witness the war firsthand," the Ukrainian leader said. Zelenskyy and Vučić discussed mutual support on the path to the European Union, bilateral cooperation and Ukraine's recovery. Quote from Zelenskyy: "I thank [Vučić] for the initiative to help with the recovery efforts and to assume patronage over the reconstruction of several Ukrainian settlements. This is a truly effective form of cooperation, and we look forward to positive results." Background: Notably, the participants of the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit have signed a declaration in which they condemn Russia's war against Ukraine "in the strongest possible terms" and call on the international community "to maintain and further strengthen sanctions against the Russian Federation". Meanwhile, Vučić was the only participant in the event who did not sign it. Commenting on this, Vučić said that in this way he "did not betray Russia". Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Presidents of Ukraine, Romania and Moldova hold first meeting in trilateral format

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Moldovan President Maia Sandu and Romanian President Nicușor Dan have held their first trilateral meeting. Source: press service for the Office of the President of Ukraine, as reported by European Pravda Details: Zelenskyy, Dan and Sandu held a separate meeting on the sidelines of the Ukraine-Southeast Europe Summit, which took place on 11 June in Odesa. The main topics of discussion were regional security, countering hybrid threats and cyber security, energy security, cross-border cooperation, logistics connectivity, military and technical cooperation and European integration. Reports say there was considerable discussion about supporting Moldova, whose situation is seen as key to regional stability. The strengthening of sanctions against Russia and coordinated efforts to compel the Kremlin to agree to a just peace were also discussed. Quote from the press service: "The parties also addressed support for the shared European Union membership aspirations of Ukraine and Moldova. Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that Ukraine and Moldova are moving forward together on this path, and no one should be allowed to divide the countries in the negotiation process." More details: In addition, they discussed infrastructure projects, including the construction of a motorway connecting Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, as well as the development of the region's railway infrastructure. Ukraine proposed appointing coordinators at the level of foreign ministers for permanent interactions in this format. Dan's arrival at the summit in Odesa is one of his first foreign visits, following his inaugural trip to Chișinău. Romania is known as one of the strongest supporters of Moldova's accession to the European Union. Background: Moldova may overtake Ukraine in the process of joining the EU and start negotiations separately due to Hungary's blocking of such steps for Ukraine. However, the EU still hopes to convince Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán in the coming weeks while preparing a plan B. Support Ukrainska Pravda on Patreon!

Zelenskyy: Russia is simply lying to Trump

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that US President Donald Trump has the leverage to end the war between Russia and Ukraine – but to do so, he must understand what game Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin is playing. Source: Zelenskyy in an interview with Axel Springer Global Reporters Network, as reported by European Pravda Details: Zelenskyy stated that Russia "is simply lying to Trump". "Most heads of state and government share my opinion, and I very much hope that America sees and understands this. That is the most important thing. How you respond to that is America's decision," he said. Zelenskyy stressed that Trump has the power to stop the war because "Putin understands nothing but strength, and America has that strength". He also emphasised that Trump is aware that the Kremlin is not entirely sincere about the war. Zelenskyy noted that Russia could only be victorious if the West abandoned Ukraine. In his opinion, an American withdrawal from the war would be an ideal scenario for Putin. When asked about the quarrel between the US and Ukrainian leaders in the Oval Office in February, Zelenskyy ironically replied that he did not believe that the incident had brought them closer together, while emphasising that it was now in the past. "Today we must do everything we can to ensure that the next meeting in the Oval Office is successful for both countries," he stressed. Zelenskyy said that the United States and Ukraine had resumed a constructive dialogue. He added that a personal, friendly meeting between the presidents took place in the Vatican in April. Background: Trump recently shared details of a recent conversation with Russian ruler Vladimir Putin, including his idea that Ukraine and Russia should be allowed to "fight for a while" because it would be easier to stop them later. He also compared the Russo-Ukrainian war to two children fighting like crazy. "Sometimes, and this is me speaking, maybe in a negative sense, you see two young children fighting like crazy. They hate each other and are fighting in the park, and you try to pull them apart; they don't want to be pulled. Sometimes it's better off letting them fight for a while and then pulling them apart," he said. In response, Zelenskyy said that Putin is a murderer, not a child on a playground.
