The NBA offseason is heating up, and one of the biggest storylines is Kevin Durant's future. After a disappointing playoff run with the Phoenix Suns, trade rumors are swirling, and the Minnesota Timberwolves have emerged as a potential landing spot.

According to ESPN Front Office Insider Bobby Marks, a blockbuster trade could send Durant to Minnesota, pairing him with rising star Anthony Edwards. The proposed deal would shake up both teams' rosters and give the Timberwolves a legitimate championship contender.
Proposed Trade Details
The hypothetical trade outlined by Marks would involve multiple players and picks:
Timberwolves receive:
- Kevin Durant
Suns receive:
- Rudy Gobert
- Donte DiVincenzo
- Mike Conley
- 2025 1st-round pick (17th overall)
This trade would address key needs for both teams.
The Suns, struggling to find a long-term solution at center, would get Gobert—a four-time Defensive Player of the Year. DiVincenzo adds depth as a reliable two-way player, while Conley's expiring contract helps Phoenix clear future cap space.
For Minnesota, acquiring Durant would be a franchise-altering move.

If the trade goes through, Minnesota's starting five could look like this:
Position
Player
PG
Terrance Shannon Jr.
SG
Anthony Edwards
SF
Kevin Durant
PF
Julius Randle
C
Naz Reid
This lineup assumes Randle and Reid return (both have player options).
The combination of Edwards and Durant would create one of the most dynamic scoring duos in the league.
- Anthony Edwards – A rising superstar with elite scoring and athleticism.
- Kevin Durant – A proven champion and one of the greatest scorers in NBA history.
- Julius Randle & Naz Reid – Versatile big men who can stretch the floor.
- Terrance Shannon Jr. – A promising young guard who showed flashes as a rookie.
The Timberwolves would have elite scoring at every position, along with improved floor spacing and pick-and-roll versatility.

Mutual Respect Between Durant and Edwards
The chemistry between Durant and Edwards is already strong. Edwards has openly admired Durant, calling him his favorite player.
"Who I look to for advice? Of course KD, that's my favorite player of all time, anything I wanna ask I go straight to him," Edwards said last year when the two were teammates on the Olympic squad.
This existing relationship could make the transition seamless, giving Minnesota a lethal offensive duo.
Challenges and Cap Considerations
While the trade is enticing, the Timberwolves face financial hurdles:
- They are a first-apron team, limiting their flexibility.
- Player options for Randle and Reid could impact cap space.
- Integrating Durant while maintaining depth won't be easy.
Still, if Minnesota is serious about contending, this move could push them into title contention.
The Timberwolves have a real shot at landing Kevin Durant. Pairing him with Anthony Edwards would instantly make them a top-tier team in the West. While the trade would cost them key pieces like Gobert and a first-round pick, the payoff could be worth it.

MLC 2025: Ian Holland's 4-wicket haul, Rachin Ravindra and Glenn Maxwell's blitz help Washington Freedom beat Seattle Orcas

Ian Holland of Washington Freedom dliver ball during match 4 of Major League Cricket Season 3 between the Seattle Orcas and Washington Freedom held at the Oakland Coliseum in California , Unites States of America. (Sportzpics) In an all-round team performance, Glenn Maxwell-led Washington Freedom defeated Heinrich Klaasen's Seattle Orcas by five wickets in the ongoing 2025 Major League Cricket (MLC). Defending champions Washington Freedom opened their campaign with a five-wicket win and became the first team in the season to successfully chase a target at the Oakland Coliseum. Orcas won the toss and elected to bat first on a used surface. Openers David Warner (31) and Kyle Mayers (27) got off to a flyer, adding 60 for the first wicket. Once the partnership was broken, there was no real flow to the innings. Steven Taylor (16), Klaasen (17), and Aaron Jones (13) all got starts but failed to convert, with the Freedom adjusting to the pitch conditions beautifully and executing their plans perfectly. Orcas kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Sikandar Raza was the last man to get out, but he struggled throughout his innings and managed only 15 runs off 26 balls. Seattle Orcas crawled to 145/9 in 20 overs. Ian Holland was at the top of his game, setting up the match in Freedom's favour with his career-best figures of 4 for 20. He used his slower balls to great effect and deceived the opposition. 'I was just really clear on trying to execute my deliveries with a combination of a couple of different slower balls, and it sort of worked tonight,' he said after the match. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Thị trường có dấu hiệu suy thoái không? Rachin Ravindra (44) joined the party and made full use of the field restrictions. The duo added 49 runs for the first wicket in the blink of an eye before the Tasmanian holed out to long-on in the third over. Ravindra continued in his merry way and looked at his brutal best, scoring an 18-ball 44. Washington raced to 90 in the powerplay — the highest-ever powerplay score in MLC history. Ravindra and Andries Gous (16) added 41 for the second wicket, and Freedom were cruising until Afghanistan's Waqar Salamkheil came into the attack after the powerplay and knocked over Gous with a ripper. Ravindra was then trapped by Obed McCoy in the next over. Freedom lost a few quick wickets, with Glenn Phillips and Jack Edwards trying to clear the fence but finding the fielders. However, captain Glenn Maxwell ensured that they didn't bottle a run chase for the second time in a row and finished the match with an unbeaten captain's knock, clubbing 38* off 20 balls. For the Orcas, Waqar Salamkheil (2/27), Harmeet Singh (1/18), Obed McCoy (1/20), and Cameron Gannon (1/36) shared the spoils.

Norway's Jeanette Hegg Duestad and Jon-Hermann Hegg bagged the bronze medal with a 16-14 victory over the UAS's Sagen Maddalena and Peter Matthew Fiori. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD The top Chinese pair then managed to win the next two narrowly in the race to 16, but it was again business as usual from the 11th series, as Arya and Arjun fired a couple of 10.5 and 10.7s respectively, to get to match point. In the final 12th series, while Arjun cancelled out Sheng with identical 10.1s, Arya outgunned Wang 10.6-10.4, to give India a memorable gold medal.
