Mohit Suri's Saiyaara, which marks the Bollywood debut of Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, is just hours away from hitting theatres and the first review is already creating waves. Singer Palak Muchhal, who attended a special screening of the film, has called it 'pure magic" and praised the debutants for their raw and real performances.
Sharing her reaction on social media, Palak wrote, 'Watched Saiyaara last night… and I'm still carrying its emotions in my heart. It's been a while since a film moved me so deeply — Saiyaara is not just a love story, it's a journey of emotion, pain, healing, and timeless connection. A story that truly needed to be told, and told the way it has been."
She continued, 'So proud of @mohitsuri — having worked with him, I've seen his passion up close, but what he's created here goes beyond passion… it's pure magic. The storytelling, the screenplay, the way every moment unfolds — it lingers long after the credits roll. And the music… Every note elevates the narrative. A special place in my heart for Dhan, by @mithoon11, which is such a soul-stirring part of the film's heart."
Palak also praised the lead pair, calling them 'hands down the most brilliant debutantes I've ever seen. So raw, so real, so powerful."
Saiyaara is a romantic musical drama backed by Yash Raj Films. The story follows two passionate lovers navigating euphoric highs and crushing lows as they fight to hold on to their tumultuous bond. It promises classic Mohit Suri elements, intense love, heartbreak, and a stirring musical score.
The film's music has already struck a chord with fans, featuring compositions by Mithoon, Faheem Abdullah, Vishal Mishra, Sachet–Parampara, Arslan Nizami, and Tanishk Bagchi.
Trade analysts are predicting a sensational start for the film at the box office. Saiyaara has already raked in over Rs 2.6 crore in advance bookings, with more than 12 hours left for pre-sales to close. Industry experts estimate a double-digit opening in the range of Rs 10-12 crore, with optimistic projections touching Rs 15-20 crore. These figures are massive for a film led by debutants, surpassing even Aamir Khan's Sitaare Zameen Par, which opened to Rs 11.50 crore just a month ago.

Saiyaara box office: Ahaan Panday-Aneet Padda starrer crushes Sikandar, Raid 2, Sitaare Zameen Par & Housefull 5 to become 2nd fastest entrant to Rs 100 crore club
Looking at the current trend, Saiyaara has all the potential to enter the Rs 200 crore club, with no major releases scheduled for the coming weekend, except for the Marvel biggie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps read more Ahaan Panday & Aneet Padda starrer Saiyaara is performing way beyond its expectations at the box office. The Mohit Suri directorial, which enjoyed a phenomenal opening weekend, entered the Rs 100 crore club on its fourth day and emerged as the second-fastest film of 2025 to achieve this milestone, after Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, surpassing biggies like Sitaare Zameen Par, Raid 2, Housefull 5, Sky Force, and Sikandar. Fastest entrant club to Rs 100 crore club STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Chhaava - 3 days Saiyaara - 4 days Sky Force - 8 days Sitaare Zameen Par - 9 days Raid 2 - 9 days Housefull 5 - 10 days Sikandar - 11 days Looking at the current trend, _Saiyaara_ has all the potential to enter the Rs 200 crore club, with no major releases scheduled for the coming weekend, except for the Marvel biggie, The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Despite not going all out with the promotions, Saiyaara garnered unprecedented excitement among the cinegoers. Before the release of the movie, director Mohit Suri spoke about it and told Firstpost, 'I've been inside the studio for the last one month. I have no idea. And unlike the past when people travel from one studio to another, this is everything inhouse at YRF. So I haven't really gone out and met the world outside. Normally, when you are working on other films, you go out for the day; for sound, edit, and VFX. It was different different places. And just hearing it now, it does feel it does feel very redeeming and validating because when I started off this film, I was quite discouraged by a lot of senior people saying that nobody would be interested in a young love story. Because at that time, larger-than-life films were being made and I just thought that my voice would be lost there when everyone was shouting. So I just went and tried to make a film which is very different from what others were doing. And to me, the fact that people are appreciating that the difference that it's standing out means a lot.'

'Cruel irony': Hansal Mehta reacts to cancellation of MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2025
The MAMI Mumbai Film Festival 2025 has been cancelled. The news was confirmed on the festival's official social media handle on Monday. The decision was taken to revamp the festival with a "dynamic vision" and a "new team" to ensure that it will return as a premier showcase for the best of independent, regional, and classic cinema from India and around the world, said festival director Dungarpur in a statement. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now "We are working diligently to reschedule the festival and will announce the new dates for the 2026 edition as soon as possible. Thank you for your understanding and support," he added. The move comes as a major hiccup for the festival that has had a fair run since it was founded in 1997. Reacting to the same, filmmaker , whose 'Aligarh' and 'The Buckingham Murders' were earlier premiered at the festival, voiced his discontent. "It's a cruel irony that Mumbai draped in the glitz of being India's financial and cinematic capital cannot keep alive a film festival of its own," the filmmaker wrote on social media. He went on to call out the "self-appointed gatekeepers of cinema" who left the festival for better stages and safer bets, further adding that only a few "passionate believers" took care of it. "And now that fragile flame has been snuffed out. No ceremony. No outrage. Just a slow, silent forgetting. What should have been a cultural cornerstone has been reduced to a footnote - another casualty of apathy dressed as progress," Mehta concluded. Many took to the comment section and echoed similar sentiments. Filmmaker Onir wrote, "Heartbreaking that the industry that produces the largest number of films ... failed to nurture this one space that celebrated cinema as a form of art ... Tired of too many ads? go ad free now beyond box office and stars ., what a loss for the city and a shame for us as an industry." Organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI), the film festival has emerged as a hub for the world to discover emerging South Asian talent and contemporary cinema. Several leading Bollywood celebrities like Priyanka Chopra, Farhan Khan, , and , have been associated with the festival over the years.
