Suspect pursued by Oakley PD crashes into uninvolved vehicle
(KRON) — A driver being pursued by the Oakley Police Department on Tuesday ran a red light and crashed into an uninvolved vehicle, injuring multiple people, according to authorities.
The pursuit began around 7:35 a.m. on Highway 4 near Bailey Road as officers were participating in a multi-agency traffic enforcement campaign. One officer spotted a GMC Yukon with no rear license plate traveling westbound on the highway and initiated a traffic stop. The driver of the Yukon, later identified by police as 28-year-old Dejon Brandy, did not yield to the officer and fled on the shoulder of Highway 4 before taking the Bailey Road offramp, authorities said.
'The driver ran a red light at Bailey Road and Canal Road in Bay Point and collided with an occupied vehicle,' Oakley PD said.
Following the crash, the Yukon continued to be pursued by police. Brandy allegedly entered the eastbound lanes of Highway 4 going the wrong way, where the pursuit was terminated 'due to the dangers associated with wrong way driving,' authorities said.

The Yukon again exited at Bailey Road in the wrong direction before getting out and running to a Burger King, according to Oakley police. Multiple agencies, including the California Highway Patrol and Contra Costa County Sheriff's Department, surrounded the area and detained Brandy.
The Yukon was determined by police to be stolen.
'I am grateful to all of the officers who took part in this arrest, as they clearly removed a dangerous criminal from society and incarcerated him where he cannot steal from people or hurt innocent people just conducting daily life matters,' Oakley Police Chief Paul Beard said. 'I hope the people who were injured in this incident receive the care they need and make a full recovery.'

Serial shoplifter robbed same store 16 straight times: SFPD
SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A serial shoplifter accused of robbing the same store 16 times between October of last year to May 2025 was nabbed by detectives, the San Francisco Police Department announced on Tuesday. Arrest in 'unprovoked' back-to-back assaults at SF Fort Mason Park SFPD said Neil Peck (aka Kevin Peck), 51, was arrested on May 25 for burglary and attempted grand theft at a retail store on the 700 block of Mission Street. Police said an 'astute' officer figured out that Peck was involved in dozens of other thefts at that same location and quickly alerted investigators. Police did not disclose the exact retail store. 'SFPD DART (Defend Against Retail Theft) investigators began investigating Peck for the prior theft incidents and determined that he was the suspect in 16 additional chargeable cases from October 7, 2024, to May 22, 2025,' said police. 'The total loss for the incidents totaled nearly $8,000.' Peck faces several felony and misdemeanor charges, including petty theft, commercial burglary, grand theft and shoplifting, said San Francisco police. Due to voters passing Proposition 36 in December 2024, Peck's petty theft crimes can be charged as misdemeanors or felony since he has several prior theft convictions, SFPD confirmed. Wine theft led to felony charge under Prop 36 Despite an arrest in the case, this remains an active investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the SFPD at (415) 575-4444 or text a tip to TIP411, starting the message with 'SFPD.' SFPD said its Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Task Force also assisted in the probe. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved. Thief had ‘enough copper wire to rewire small building': deputies
(KRON) — Deputies said a 31-year-old man faces several charges after he was caught with a bunch of stolen copper wire and piping in his vehicle following a traffic stop, said the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. Serial shoplifter robbed same store 16 straight times: SFPD SCCSO said the driver of a Chevy Suburban was pulled over for its license plates not matching the car. The arresting deputy soon discovered the plates were stolen from a Jeep in Oakland, and the vehicle was reported stolen in San Jose. 'Inside the SUV was enough copper wire and piping to rewire a small building,' said the sheriff's office. 'The driver, 31-year-old Andrew Reyes, was already on Post-Release Community Supervision (PRCS) and gave a questionable explanation. To make matters worse, he tried to smuggle drugs into the Santa Clara County Main Jail!' The sheriff's office did not disclose the time and location of the incident. Reyes' list of charges includes auto theft, possession of stolen property, copper theft, drug paraphernalia possession, attempting to bring contraband into a jail, and violating PRCS terms, confirmed SCCSO. Los Gatos family ‘lost everything' after fire destroys home, thieves loot what was left
LOS GATOS, Calif. (KRON) — A Los Gatos family loses everything after their home of almost 30 years catches fire. Then, thieves targeted the home — looting what was left. The family of five is now displaced, and the home is locked up. Walls have kept anyone from entering the home, and the community is now rallying around the family to help. 'Raising three kids here, living our life here, it's actually surreal,' said homeowner Jeff Burdsall. Last Thursday, just after noon, the Burdsall's family home of 29 years quickly went up in flames. The home and almost everything in it — wiped out. 'Worst thing you can ever hear is your son screaming the house is on fire, and the first thing I thought was he was inside,' Burdsall said. 'It's memories, and it's hard to replace those memories that were lost, but it's just memories, and we'll keep it with us, and it's just physical things that we can replace.' Another food business in SF Ferry Building to close Thankfully, no one was hurt. The next day, Burdsall went to see if anything could be saved and was shocked to find he wasn't the only one who had been inside. 'I noticed when I opened the makeshift door that things were moved around, and it didn't make things and somebody had looted us,' Burdsall said. 'I just stood here, and at one point, I just started bawling because you're down, and then somebody does thi,s and it just feels like a swift kick in the head.' The thieves took his wife's jewelry, his melted headphones, his daughter's old phone, her grandfather's guitar, and whatever else was spared by the fire. Burdsall says the heartbreak is unimaginable, but the silver lining has been a wave of support as they figure out what to do next. 'It's amazing — the outpouring of love for people you never met before and your neighbors and the community,' Burdsall said. 'I'm grateful.' The cause of the fire is under investigation. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the Burdsall family. It has raised nearly $5,000 as of this report. Copyright 2025 Nexstar Media, Inc. All rights reserved.
