‘If any school can get through it, it's going to be us': Students trying to stay resilient
FSU students, faculty, alumni, and family packed the lawn in front of Doak Campbell Stadium for a vigil honoring the victims of Thursday's attack in the Student Union.
A new memorial is growing around the 'Unconquered Statue' on the lawn. The statue depicts the spirit of Florida State University students.
Students packed the lawn outside the FSU football stadium, some with flowers and lights, and everyone with heavy hearts as they leaned on each other for strength and comfort.
'I'm angry, you're angry, some of us are angry. Some of us are numb. I'm completely numb,' said FSU President Richard McCullough.
President Richard McCullough says what started out as a typical spring day quickly became the worst day for Seminole nation.
'This is the kind of trauma that changes people, and it changes a place, but it does not define us. It does not define us,' said McCullough.
Students are still trying to process the reality.
'I honestly didn't believe it at first. You always see this stuff on the news. But for it to actually happen is definitely a surreal experience,' said Jacob Mark.
As students crowded the lawn and stood shoulder to shoulder, it marked the first step in healing. A process that won't be easy. It's also a journey where FSU wants students to know they're not alone.
'In the midst of something like this, I think it's important we keep fighting on,' said Jordan Stone.
Students created a new memorial around the 'Unconquered Statue.' It's full of candles, balloons, teddy bears, and notes. Students say the definition of Florida State strong is just what the statue says: We're Unconquered.
'I really feel that today. I feel like it's something really hard to go through, but if any school can get through it, it's going to be us,' said Mark.

FSU baseball vs. Oregon State: Prediction, odds for Game Three of Corvallis Super Regional
FSU baseball vs. Oregon State: Prediction, odds for Game Three of Corvallis Super Regional The FSU Seminoles and Oregon State Beavers are playing in a winner-take-all Game Three of the Corvallis Super Regional on Sunday. The winner of the game will advance to the College World Series in Omaha, and the loser's season will be over. FSU forced the game by winning 3-1 on Saturday behind some great pitching from Jamie Arnold and Peyton Prescott. Arnold allowed one run over 6.2 innings on six hits and a walk. He struckout nine batters and did not allow a run after the first inning in what could be his last appearance as a Seminole. Prescott closed the door over the final 2.0 innings. He issued one walk but did not allow a hit and struckout four batters in the biggest outing of his career. The righty touched 100 miles per hour on the fastball multiple times, a first for an FSU pitcher this season, and something FSU's coaching staff has expected to happen. The offense once again struggled against an elite Oregon State pitching staff, but had several timely at-bats. Gage Harrelson delivered the winning hit, driving in James Hankerson Jr. in the seventh inning to give FSU its first lead of the game. Here is a look at the updated odds from FanDuel for Game Three of FSU vs. Oregon State, and a prediction for the game. The Odds Oregon State Beavers: -113 FSU Seminoles: -113 After two extremely close games, the odds are fittingly even for Game Three. The favored team has gone on to win the first two matchups. This is two great offences and one is bound to break out at some point after facing the same pitching staff three straight days. Multiple Seminoles, including Golden Spikes Award Finalist Alex Lodise, are slumping, but that will change on Sunday as FSU's offense comes to life and powers FSU to victory. How to watch, listen to Sunday's game Time: 9 p.m. ET Channel: ESPN2 Streaming: ESPN+ Radio: WFLA 100.7 FM or Seminole Sports Network Game Two of the series between FSU and Oregon State will start Sunday at 9 p.m. ET at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field in Corvallis, Oregon. Jamie Arnold shines as FSU baseball beats Oregon State, forces NCAA Super Regional game 3
Florida State baseball forced a winner-takes-all game three after winning a pitchers' duel against Oregon State 3-1 in game two of the NCAA super regional at Goss Stadium. FSU's Jamie Arnold and Oregon State's Ethan Kleinschmit delivered a pair of pitching gems, with both lefties eclipsing 100 pitches. Advertisement After throwing 53 pitches in the first two innings, Arnold settled himself for the Seminoles (42-15) and threw no more than 15 pitches in an inning before being replaced in the seventh inning. He struck out nine batters and retired 12 of the last 14 batters he faced before being replaced by Maison Martinez in the seventh inning with two outs. It was a dominant outing for Arnold, and one that FSU needed in a win-or-go-home scenario. The pairing of Martinez and Peyton Prescott out of the bullpen provided quality relief for the Seminoles. Martinez only faced two batters, but he recorded a three-pitch strikeout on Aiva Arquette in the seventh inning with a runner on base. After a leadoff walk in the eighth, FSU went to Prescott, who came in and threw two consecutive 100 MPH fastballs to help him record a strikeout and an inning-ending double play to keep FSU ahead in the eighth inning. For the Beavers, Kleinschmit delivered six quality innings, allowing one unearned run and striking out 11 while allowing just two hits in his outing. Advertisement Oregon State took an early lead, recording its only run of the night in the first inning on a RBI single from Wilson Weber. Arquette reached on a single, and he promptly stole second, which set him up to score the game's first run on the Weber single. Max Williams tied the game for FSU with his fifth RBI hit of the College World Series, a single that scored Jaxson West, who had reached on an error earlier in the seventh inning. Gage Harrelson's RBI single in the bottom of the seventh proved to be the difference for the Seminoles. On a 3-2 pitch with a pair of outs and two runners on, Harrelson lined a single up the middle to score James Hankerson Jr from second base to take a crucial one-run lead. In the bottom of the eighth, FSU loaded the bases with a pair of singles and a two-out walk from Hankerson. West worked a seven-pitch at bat to walk in a run and give FSU a 3-1 lead. Advertisement Prescott remained in the game in the ninth inning, and he struck out the side to close out the win and avoid a repeat of the game one blown lead. Prescott finished with four strikeouts and no hits in two innings of relief work. Game three will be broadcast at 9 p.m. on ESPN2 on Sunday, June 8.
